Delicious Bites, Halloween Frights & Character Delights. NEW PTR HAS BEGUN!

I love the Little Mermaid! It is the Disney movie I remember watching over and over again when I was 10 or 11. I have the soundtrack that I play in my classroom. I really hope they do a traveling show (and that it comes someplace close to me). :goodvibes
I hope so too!

I am all caught up. I will do a PTR when I know for sure that we are going. It is 99% sure but I am just waiting to see if my dh's vacation is approved. It should be (I hope so I already bought plane tickets:rolleyes1) but I don't want to start it then have to cancel it. I love the list of your favorite characters. Alexia and I watched both Caseys yesterday. She wanted more. :rotfl: I love old disney cartoons, much better than the new ones, though I do like Phineas and Ferb. I balled the first time (and still do) I saw Pollyanna. Do you remember when the ABC channel out of Portland used to show the old Disney movies after school? We used to love watching those. During the winter every weekend my dad would go and rent the old Disney movies and we used to watch them all together. Those are some good memories.
Oh I understand wanting to wait to start it. I won't start one until I know for sure that it's happening. Oh yes! I do remember that Portland channel that showed the old Disney movies. Yes, those older ones were the ones my Dad actually didn't mind watching. Sometimes for Christmas I give him the ones that he used to watch as a kid.

You should try to get a chance to see the Little Mermaid on Broadway. I just went last weekend with the family for my mother's birthday. It was wonderful. I think that I liked Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King a bit better but Mermaid was still wonderful. If you check out broadwaybox.com you can see if they have any discounts running for it. We had seats in the mid mezzinine section and they were great. We had a wonderful view of the entire stage.

The woman who plays Ursula was wonderful, as was Sebastian. They made Ursula Ariel's aunt in the Broadway version, so now my nieces keep calling me Aunt Ursula. :rotfl: My younger niece loves Ursula. She kept telling me during the show that "Ursula isn't really bad." She thinks she just gets a bad rap or something I guess. :lmao: Even when she was younger, about 3 or so, when we saw the Little Mermaid show at DHS, the rest of the kids would be screaming when Ursula came out, and she'd be clapping up a storm. She's a little odd sometimes.

Next week we were going to take the girls to see Mary Poppins to celebrate their birthdays, but they don't have any good discount codes running for the matinee shows. I think we are going to see Shrek instead, which is supposed to be pretty good. I'll just have to see Mary Poppins by myself.
Oh I am so jealous that you got to see it!! That is too cute about your neice and her love for Ursula. Hehehe. I didn't realize they had a Shrek show! Cool.

:rotfl::rotfl:

I dont think you are heartless at all. In fact I totally get what you are saying. Both my grandmothers were very sweet women, however, DH has one that is the same way.

Now that she is older and in bad health he has tried giving her the benefit of the doubt and tried being nice. Although some days she does not know who you are on the days she does she will look straight at you and say "You sure have gotten fat." this was normal for her in the past before the dementia. Unfortonately, the dementia has not made her any nicer.

As a child she would send my DH two sisters and his Mom a Christmas gift and not send DH anything because she just didnt like him. Can you imagine a Grandmother doing that.

Mean little lady, thats all I have to say.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:
Oh yes...I can imagine a Grandmother doing that. I can also imagine her skipping your bridal shower and wedding and giving all the other grandchildren presents for Christmas except you, oh and I can imagine her favoring your brother and always telling you that he was the better kid. Yep. I can imagine. In fact, my mom went to visit her this weekend, an activity I do not endorse and she had to commentate on my life to my mother. I was married and divorced a few years ago and she still doesn't understand why...the woman who is on her THIRD husband. Okay. I'm done now. :rotfl2:

Hey LL:

I don't know how I got soooooo far behind on your PTR, but I did. I am so excited that you are staying an extra night. 6 nights is so perfect. I know you are going to love POR. That was my first on site Disney stay and I have very fond memories of it. I can definately see you staying in one of the mansions cause you have that whole southern belle look going on (even if you are a northerner ).

I have no suggestions on your plans and ADR's. Everything sounds great to me and I can't wait to read your final itinerary.

I hope you have a less hectic week this week!
I want to be a southern belle, my other grandmother the non-Ursula one is from Texas and I swear I was meant to live in the South. If only I could convince Marc to move!

We will be there almost the exact same time, we get in on 9/26 and leave 10/3! I am glad you posted your thoughts on your schedule because I didn't realize EMHs had changed until I read some of the comments. I don't think it's going to change my plans, but it is good to know. :thumbsup2

I love  the look of the Mansions. We stayed at POFQ on our last trip and when we were on the bus I would look out the window and dream about staying in the mansions one day, my DH would rather stay in Alligator Bayou but until he starts handling the planning, that won't be happening. :rotfl: The list of places that I want to stay is much longer than the budget is going to allow.
It is good to know what is going on! I love the look of the mansions, they seem so magical.

AGREED!! I'd be willing to head into NYC with you to see The Little Mermaid. I don't know when I'd fit it in but we can try. I have to see it!
Oooh! Maybe we can work something out. It's going to be TOUGH though. I was looking at my calendar and don't know when I would fit it in. :headache:

Soo sad about the Little Mermaid on Broadway !! :sad2: I, too, was also hoping to see it someday.... I know we won't be out by August though because there is a Red Sox game we need to go to and I think you know which one is more important to my DH! :lmao: I know just what you're talking about with the relationship with your grandmother, but it is good that you can find humor in that situation!! My grandmother and I have little/ no relationship due to the fact that she is extremely judgemental and well.. mean! She is nothing like Ursala though... imagine Emily Gilmore from the 'Gilmore Girls' and you have my grandmother
Yep, my grandmother is mean too. Oh I love the Gilmore Girls...I can't imagine having Emily Gilmore as a grandmother but I've always loved the show!

Oooh! Maybe we can work something out. It's going to be TOUGH though. I was looking at my calendar and don't know when I would fit it in. :headache:

Tell me about it. I'm trying to plan this wedding AND buy a house. Talk about a filled calendar! :faint:

:confused3

I think you may be related to my DH, yep, I am pretty sure you are cause he has the same Grandmother.
Last time we saw her she told DH how fat he was, then looked at me and said "You must feed well." :lmao:

Tell me about it. I'm trying to plan this wedding AND buy a house. Talk about a filled calendar! :faint:
I hear ya! I have bunch going on at work and then tons of family things, it's a headache!

:confused3

I think you may be related to my DH, yep, I am pretty sure you are cause he has the same Grandmother.
Last time we saw her she told DH how fat he was, then looked at me and said "You must feed well." :lmao:
We must have the same one! Too funny. My grandmother knows better than to comment on my weight to me...she just does it behind my back, the little darling.

I think it is just awful that your grandmother has/does treat you like that! As someone who never got a good chance to know either of my grandmothers, I think it is downright deplorable that she is living and is incapable of having a good relationship with you! Your Ursula comparison had me cracking up though!

As for your plans, they all sound great. But, who am I kidding...just being in Disney sounds great to me!:goodvibes

LOL!!:lmao: Love the comparing of your Mema and Ursila!! That poor woman and poor you for having to deal with her! But I'm with you, some people just aren't nice.....Marc's comments were pretty funny though when you were watching the movie the other night.

I noticed that The Little Mermaid was going off in August....I was hoping to see it too....there just isn't enough days in a week!!!:guilty: Hope you get to see it, doesn't look like I'll be able to make it...unless we do a MA carpool!!;)

Oh, if I were you, I would TOTALLY find a way to go into NYC and see the show!!!! I wish I could come with you too!!!! I have never been to NYC....we drove through it, but that is about as good as it gets!

I am so over searching for reasonably priced flights!

I want to fly Southwest. I like their airline, I don't have to pay luggage fees and it's a lot easier for Marc to drive me in to Providence or Manchester Airports instead of Boston. In fact that was his only request, he didn't want to have to deal with driving into Boston. Deal.

Here is my predictment.

Right now the optimal flight times I want are super expensive.

Sept. 27 Arrive in Orlando at 10:40AM

Oct. 3 Depart Orlando at 3:15PM

Total $321.20. :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Now I could do this....

Add a night on Sat. Sept 26 at Pop Century for $93.07

Sept. 26 Arrive in Orlando at 7:20PM

Oct. 3 Depart Orlando at 8AM

Total: $275.87...that's everything! $45.33 cheaper!

I'm willing to take the early flight on Oct. 3 if I am getting extra time earlier in the week.

To be fair...I could still do these flights but they are not making me happy.

Sept. 27 Arrive in Orlando at 10:40AM

Oct. 3 Depart Orlando at 9:30AM

Total $289.20. Still more expensive than adding the extra night by $11.33.

Or

Sept. 27 Arrive in Orlando at 10:40AM

Oct. 3 Depart Orlando at 8AM

Total $237.80. Bah. I hate this option. It's the worst because for $38.07 I can add the extra night, come in on the 26th and get a full day in MK on Sunday with a good nights rest.

I am so frustrated.

What would you do??

If Marc doesn't care than I would add the extra night provided you can get the value room. Pack a carry-on bag that will get you thru late afternoon the next day when you move to OKW. I have to ask my DH tonight if he minds me switching my flight to Orlando from 540pm to 810am....only $5 more, but then I get more time to go to Epcot for Food and Wine (mid-week to boot). But I have child care to worry about that's why I just can't book it now :headache:

That's a tough call. As long as you can get the time off, and it's not a problem for Marc, why not just add on the extra day. If it's going to cost you more to fly on your chosen dates, you might as well get some extra Disney time out of it.

I would go for the extra night. Saving money and an extra night, that works nicely!

Allyson

I would totally add the extra night. When do you get an opportunity to spend a day in Disney for $38.07?

I think it is just awful that your grandmother has/does treat you like that! As someone who never got a good chance to know either of my grandmothers, I think it is downright deplorable that she is living and is incapable of having a good relationship with you! Your Ursula comparison had me cracking up though!

As for your plans, they all sound great. But, who am I kidding...just being in Disney sounds great to me!:goodvibes
Yeah, she's a piece of work. The thing that really kills me about the whole situation is that she is my only living grandparent and I had such great relationships with the other three that have passed away. It's hard to be okay with that, if you know what I mean...??

LOL!!:lmao: Love the comparing of your Mema and Ursila!! That poor woman and poor you for having to deal with her! But I'm with you, some people just aren't nice.....Marc's comments were pretty funny though when you were watching the movie the other night.

Seriously. We should! I really want to go!!! :worship:

Oh, if I were you, I would TOTALLY find a way to go into NYC and see the show!!!! I wish I could come with you too!!!! I have never been to NYC....we drove through it, but that is about as good as it gets!
I have never been either. It kinda intimidates to be honest.

I was planning on packing the carry on with everything I could need. The moving all around is a pain but...I think I'd be okay with that. I'll figure it all out somehow.

LL, honey, add the night.
I just have this little voice in my head from Marc that this was a 4 night trip and now it's a full week! Sigh. I'm going to show him the math tonight and see what he says.

That's a tough call. As long as you can get the time off, and it's not a problem for Marc, why not just add on the extra day. If it's going to cost you more to fly on your chosen dates, you might as well get some extra Disney time out of it.
It's a Saturday so I am already off so I don't have to worry about that. It's probably easier for him to bring me on Saturday too since he doesn't work that day.

I would go for the extra night. Saving money and an extra night, that works nicely!

Allyson
I think so too!

I would totally add the extra night. When do you get an opportunity to spend a day in Disney for $38.07?
What a wonderful way to look at it!

I agree with the rest I think you should add the extra night and get in the night before and get a full day of rest and enjoy some more MK time!!

Extra night sounds like the way to go! It makes the most "cents." :lmao: What a dork I am :rotfl:

Tracy

I'd have to go with the majority here and say the extra night makes the most sents, or as Tracy said, cents.:thumbsup2

Um, hello more time in Disney-its a no brainer. Add the extra night!!:yay::yay:

We had the same issue when I added DH and changed our dates. We went from flying on Wednesdays to Sundays and the airfare killed us. I will never do a Sunday-Sunday trip again.

I think you should take a personal nurse just in case your feet hurt again. For a few extra thousand you can take me along with you in case you need me to bandage your feet or anything. :rolleyes1

Mos def add the night...it's that Fuzzy Disney Math working your brain overtime. It does make the most sense...doesn't it....
