The pixie dust was floating in the air yesterday, because my waitlist came through! We were supposed to be in a 2 bedroom @ SSR for 12/13-12/16, then move over to OKW thru 12/20. Yesterday OKW 2 bedroom lockoff came through for 12/13-12/16 - so now we don't have to change resorts!! Maybe the cancellations are starting to roll in. It made my day, so I'll hold good thoughts for everyone else!

People who want to stay on a cash basis are having trouble. I think maybe the tax incentive checks that came in May and June might have another hand in it. I know at least 3 families that called the day they got their checks and made a ressie for Nov/Dec.

I haven't been on this thread in a while as I was extremely lucky to have my waitlist come thru, but I need to ask, what is up with this December? We were there last year, the first two weeks of December, stay at SSR and the place seemed empty. Flash forward this year, as we are going back the same two weeks. My mother in law was just diagnosed with a devastating illness, and they are coming with us. Since the diagnosis, my sister in law expressed an interest in coming the same time so she and her family could enjoy what could possibly be her last trip. I called MS today, just to see because you never know, and SSR is completely filled. No DVC rooms (which I already knew), but also no cash rooms either. I find that extremely hard to believe. I knew the chances of getting a dvc discounted room was zero, but no rooms at all? Anyone offer any incite?

I think much of this is due to all of the extra developer points in the system. Many of those points expire and cannot be banked, so people need to use them or lose them. Since the 'next' inexpensive season is really December/Janurary, and it's a high travel period, I think many are using their developers points. Certainly, if I just purchased this year and had a few hundred extra points, it is what I would do. I might even get an extra Studio or two for family, etc.

Do most people extend their waitlist until 7 days before they travel? I am thinking about calling and extending mine. Are there any problems or issue with doing this other than you may not know where you are staying?

I extended ours until 7 days before. I have heard of some people getting their room that close too. I would have a back up room!

Agree; it's possible, but make sure you have a Plan-B in place. If you have a cash ressie, those can usually be cancelled 5 days out with no penalty fwiw.

I am not sure Developer Point's is the reason for being so booked as they can only be used at the 7 month booking window and most of them are for SSR only. The waitlists for alot of people started soon after the 11 month window.

I hadn't mentioned it on this thread, but 3 weeks ago I was actually able to get a studio at VWL for 12/12 - 12/15 (3 nights). I waitlisted for the 15th so I could stay there 4 nights. It came through today. I was very excited because I figured I had no chance.

It's a MIRACLE! My Dec 31-Jan1st waitlist came through (SSR studio)! I feel like I just won the lottery. However, I just changed all my plans to fly out of Tampa as my family have decided to stay in Fort Myers until Jan. 5th. I hate to give this up after it came through.... Maybe I'll bring the entire family up for one night!

I am still waiting for any studio 12/28-1/2 or a studio for 12/30-1/2. I still have my one bedroom for 12/28-12/30 and 1/2-1/2 and paying cash for two nights (which I really do not want to do)

Hopefully something will open up soon. I extended to 7 days before check in.

I let it go and went on a waitlist for two studios for SSR(which is where we are staying 12/7-12/12). I don't want to have to move for just one night. We may just pay for the one night at SSR in a studio if we can't get the wailist.

We have a 1bdr reserved at SSR for 12/12 to 12/18 but have a waitlist for a 1bdr at OKW for same dates. Has been in place for about 6 weeks. Looks like we will be shortening the time to 12/13 to 12/17, maybe that will help the waitlist clear.

Make sure there is a room that you can pay for . I need one night at OKW and there are no rooms for cash. I even called Disney and not member services.

I am 10 days away from 45 days out, and I am praying that any bounce back and package offers that have not firmed up are going to be cancelled....I am totally shocked-I have had an easier time getting Christmas week that the 2nd week in December.
I am hoping that Disney cancells some of their DVC reservations

I know I made somebody very happy - I canceled Dec. 28-Jan. 2 - (2) Studios OKW.......decided to go in January - why fight the Xmas crowds? - But now I'm finding just as difficult for Martin Luther King weekend??? - I have reservations - but had to split between SSS and OKW - and waitlisted for either to come thru so we can be together at the same resort!
I just can't believe how busy Disney is ..... no availability, anywhere, for (2) studios for that weekend??? - WOW! the stock sure doesn't act like it's so busy???

My wait list will probably come thru for only (1) Studio at either Resort.... (I do have (1) Studio confirmed at both resorts - the first wait list that comes thru - I'll cancel the other resort!!) -

I find the reservation tele. process very bad - I need (2) Studios at the same time for the same resort - When I reserve (1) Studio - they have to finish the reservation - by the time they do that - the OTHER Studio is gone!! How bad is that??? Why can't tey put a 'hold' on the both Studios and THEN finish the reservation process???

It's really annoying to keep calling and calling!!!

After 17 yrs. a member - I've never seen it this bad...I'm getting really disappinted in Disney!!
