YEAH!!!!

I got the night of Dec. 4th! OKW studio!

I am still waiting on one night.

We were just able to add two nights (December 5th and 6th) to our trip!! We went on the waitlist last week and I decided to call yesterday just for the heck of it. We got the nights!

So, we will be in a one bedroom at SSR December 5-12th!

Congratulations! Did the room that you got match your waitlist? If it did, did MS offer any explanation as to how there was a room available that matched your waitlist?

To be honest with you, this is the first time we have ever waitlisted. I was reading this thread and decided to call just to see and the one bedroom was available. Waitlisting is all new to me. But, we were waitlisted for a one bedroom for those two nights and that is what we got. I was so excited to get the two extra nights that I didn't think to question anything.

We're waitlist for ANY 1 bedroom at AKV or VWL for 12/19-12/23. We currently have a 1 BR at SSR, but would REALLY like some place a little more special. If there's any pixie dust available, we'd appreciate a sprinkle. Thanks.

I just called and asked her about it and the CM said yep, I see the waitlist request there and that was it. Conversation lasted perhaps 20 seconds. I was hoping she would check actual availability again.

For me it is hit or miss. Some CM's will check for me and sometimes I get the same response that you get. I only end up calling on weekends because I am just way to busy at work to remember to call.

Nope even in Febraury I couldn't get a cash night for the 7th at AKV also tried a few times since and still no joy

I just call in and ask for an availability check ... then I have them verify that my waitlist is still active. Then I thank them, wish them a magical day, and move on.

I always call and just ask if anything is available for my dates and then have them check on my waitlists to make sure they are still there. I just usually say something like I am paying cash for these nights and it is important for me to check and they understand.

I did call yesterday and the CM was very nice and said they are seeing some cancellations coming in for December so good luck to everyone waiting!

I haven't been on this thread in a while as I was extremely lucky to have my waitlist come thru, but I need to ask, what is up with this December? We were there last year, the first two weeks of December, stay at SSR and the place seemed empty. Flash forward this year, as we are going back the same two weeks. My mother in law was just diagnosed with a devastating illness, and they are coming with us. Since the diagnosis, my sister in law expressed an interest in coming the same time so she and her family could enjoy what could possibly be her last trip. I called MS today, just to see because you never know, and SSR is completely filled. No DVC rooms (which I already knew), but also no cash rooms either. I find that extremely hard to believe. I knew the chances of getting a dvc discounted room was zero, but no rooms at all? Anyone offer any incite?

I have been wondering the same thing! What is up with this December?! We've gone during the first two weeks of December and stayed at our DVC for a couple of years and I have never had a problem getting a room but this year is totally different. I am on every waitlist for a studio and nothing has come up. We can't even get a cash room at the All-Stars! I spoke to reservations and MS the other day and they can't seem to believe it either. It seems so incredulous to me that the nation's economy is in deep trouble but people have plenty of money to go on vacation. JMHO

I know exactly what you mean. Last year I was moving rooms around with DVC and regular resorts for my December trip, with no problem - up to a couple of weeks out. I think alot of it has to do with all the developer points that were given out as incentives. I must say, it is frustrating. Lately, the lack of flexibility with DVC has become very stressful.

I had emailed ms about the bus issue and when they called back I asked them about the availability issue as well. The answer I got was that the word was out about the first two weeks of December i.e. Christmas Decorations etc. I don't buy it. We were at Disney last year, the same two weeks, stayed at SSR and it seemed almost empty. The pools were never busy, never encountered alot of foot traffic, only occasionally were the busses full coming back from the parks. She denied that it had to do with developer points. She said it was too many people trying to go at the same time! Don't really buy that as well, since there is waitlists posted on here for just about every month! Hopefully its just a fluke because this almost seems ridicilous! Good luck to everyone waiting..... here is some pixie dust for luck!

The pixie dust was floating in the air yesterday, because my waitlist came through! We were supposed to be in a 2 bedroom @ SSR for 12/13-12/16, then move over to OKW thru 12/20. Yesterday OKW 2 bedroom lockoff came through for 12/13-12/16 - so now we don't have to change resorts!! Maybe the cancellations are starting to roll in. It made my day, so I'll hold good thoughts for everyone else!
