DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Yeah, we walked past the $3 quarts of ice cream to get to the $8 worth of ingredients it took to make one batch. But it's fun and tastes great, so it's worth making some every once in a while. Ours is the kind where you freeze the bucket. When I was a kid we had the electric kind where you had to keep adding ice and salt while it spins.
DS was so happy when he got to lick the paddle though. That was always my favorite part.
We had the electric ones growing up, although I did have the "privilege" as a child to use the hand crank variety once. I guess I was suckered in on how much fun it would be to turn the crank...... but the final result sure was worth it! :thumbsup2

Worked with a guy who had one of the new ones where you freeze the bucket that made some really good ice cream..... no ice or salt required.... although it didn't make a large quantity. I need to try and find one of those for myself.

We arrived in Sydney Sunday am local time and did have the day to take in some sights and force myself to stay awake. Other than that no vacation here all business 12 hour days and planes, trains and automobiles .
And hopefully no getting your hands stuck between two pillows....

Hey Guys, know what day it is?

world-kiss-day.jpg

It's International Kissing Day!

Have fun!
Dang! Sorry I missed that!

Kissing day and hump day at the same time. Should get interesting.;)
And I'm REALLY sorry I missed THAT! :sad2:

Good Morning! Hope all the dads have a great day. it's almost time for another weekend.

Eep! Nope. One more degree before everything catches on fire, right?

Pretty much. Got a text from Verizon noting that we are now over our data limit for the month:headache:. Immediately followed by a text from said DS that he is sorry, but there is no WiFi where he is in Mississippi:mad::mad:. It's going to be an expensive month for cell usage.:sad2:

Last day in the office for me, off to another basketball tournament tomorrow.

DS and DW have a shared plan and they are constantly hitting their limit and probably going over. We were driving home the other night and he was watching a video clip on his phone. I said to DW "he knows that he is using his data, right?" The reply was "We've had this talk."

Glad I don't share mine.

Happy Thursday, which was better referred to as Thirsty Thursday at the bar, which made me wonder how everyone went to work on Fridays. :lmao:

I am. At least that is what SWMBO tells me. Maybe it doesn't mean what i think it means.

I just try to be worth more alive than the life insurance policy. :lmao:

It wouldn't be an expensive month for me, but would be for my dds. I told them any overages come out their bank account. My oldest left one of her apps running and I caught it before we reached the limit, but she doesn't have much left until it resets. I'll turn it off before that.

We only have a 6 GB that we share 4 ways, so yes, everyone uses Wifi wherever possible.

Well it's Friday, Ausie time anyway. One more day here and then head home Saturday morning local time getting home Saturday afternoon back home so I get back the day I lost heading over here. Finish off the work week and enjoy your weekend gents.

18?!?! Holy crap!

 Please say you told them "no".

It should not be too bad. 4 of the group of 18 are in that 19 - 23 age group so most likely they will have other plans, after the 2nd day we will be down to 9 for the remainder of the trip (5 adults & 4 kids ages 6-10) The biggest task is to get on the new Frozen ride, no fast pass, so it's a 1st thing in the morning be one of the first ones through the gate, with the park opening at 9 I want to be through security by 8 before it backs up:thumbsup2

Starting to plan our next trip, Oct 1 - 4, Oct 1st is MKs 45th anniversary not going to miss that:dancer:

I had the same situation with DW and DD16, they have a shared plan and were always going over (I don't bother with data on my phone 'cause I'm an old fogey and don't care). Anyway, I read the riot act and amazingly it worked, they stuck to their limit. I have no idea what I did that time to make it work. If I knew, I should have written it down for the next time...

Morning Gents, from a very humid London. Everyone smells very special on the underground this morning. I'll let everyone know when it's 5 o'clock our time, and then I suggest we all clock off and go to the pub. One out, all out. Who's with me?

I go away for 2 weeks, and suddenly you guys are all posting about taking flights to kiss each other? :sad2:

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

My question is whey to the Belgiums hang their beer?

Well, I certainly wouldn't want to drink a live one.

I'll let everyone know when it's 5 o'clock our time, and then I suggest we all clock off and go to the pub. One out, all out. Who's with me?

'Afternoon all...
Long week... the down side of taking time off: getting back into a routine (that you don't really want to be in).
Just a few more hours and I can get back to my mater plan of vegetating for a bit.
(Right... like that's gonn'a happen)

The kid met distant cousins in Holland and they took a train to Brussels. My question is whey to the Belgiums hang their beer?

Nice that she's still able to travel and see the world a bit. Good to add perspective.

Now then (and this is entirely you're own fault for asking a question and allowing me to hear it)...

They don't hang all beer, just that one; marketing gimmick actually. "Gentse Strop" translates to "Ghent Noose"
A noose is the unofficial symbol for the city of Ghent and the locals are at times refereed to as noose bearers
I'd explain why, but I can tell from everyone's blank expression that y'all really could care less.
If you just can't stop yourself though, go on ahead and google: "Revolt of Ghent 1539 "

I like it, but if I try to duck out of here early my overlords will string me up like one of those Belgian beers...

I can guarantee that the only person I was considering kissing was my Mrs...
Can't speak for the rest of these miscreants.

Welcome back to purgator... errr... I mean, welcome home.
looking forward to to hearing about the latest adventure.

Happy Friday. Or, maybe a sad Friday for me as vacation is over. Bad storms this AM and county declared state of emergency with many losing power. We are all safe here.

Maybe they lost a game of hangbeer? :lmao:

Get working on those stiff arms for the mad dash to Frozen Maelstrom. Would the IG entrance be easier?

A Dad win. Savor these moments.

I'm already drinking.

You're just jealous no one is flying to kiss you.

Afternoon boys.
Just getting ready to start work. But before that...

It does.

So let the chips fall where they may. I hope that video clip was worth it. $$$$$$$$$$$

I just try to be worth more alive than the life insurance policy. :lmao:

How does one go about getting a policy for $1.95?

The kid met distant cousins in Holland and they took a train to Brussels. My question is whey to the Belgiums hang their beer?

I see this has already been answered, but... damn. That's weird.

Everyone smells very special on the underground this morning.

I was trying to think of something witty to say here, but.... I couldn't get past "ew".

One out, all out. Who's with me?

I'm out. Gotta work. How's next week for you?

I go away for 2 weeks, and suddenly you guys are all posting about taking flights to kiss each other? :sad2:

Well, sure. If you're not here, then we have to kiss someone else for a change.

Actually that was interesting, but your failure to follow through on the whole story allowed me to postpone working an a tedious year end report that is due soon and google the Revolt of Ghent 1539. It was about taxes.

Glad all are safe. Storms hitting here and flickering. I may cut out early.

Fascinating, I need to send her the info. We were both stumped as to whey they did it.

Goggling right after I post this.

I was trying to think of something witty to say here, but.... I couldn't get past "ew".
There's nothing like the warm smell of someone about 2 inches from you on a packed central line to make you love the concept of working from home.
I think all of us over here could use a drink right now.
About 3 ahead of ya, CJ. Long week.
I'm out. Gotta work. How's next week for you?

We need someone to keep us on the straight and narrow. Literally.

So you're sayin' that my keeping my mouth (at least somewhat) shut actually turned out to be a public service...

Not surprisingly, this ain't the first time I've had that pointed out.

It was about taxes.
Yup...
And dispite the protest they got taxed anyway.
and a bunch of them were executed, and a standing army was stationed there to lord over them, and they lost their cathedral, and most of the city walls, and nearly all their guild rights and it voided every treaty they had prior to that point and so on, and so on...

Despots can be just a mite vindictive.

I think all of us over here could use a drink right now.
That's an irrefutable fact.
I just can't have one quit yet...
