Happy 4th to our neighbors to the South, (Yes Norm, to honor America, I am spelling things the "right way" today :D)

Today, we celebrate our Independence Day. That might have been close to that movie quote from the Independence Day movie, right before Cousin Eddie flies a plane into the alien spaceship. :lmao:

My prayers for all of you and our country this day as we celebrate our freedoms.

You know, it never once occurred to me that it was a typo.
I just thought "bug show"... huh. Sounds cool. What is it?

Yeah, I'm not that creative. The most unusual thing that happens at our July 4th party that happened July 2 was while we were sitting outside around the fire pit, I said something stupid as usual, and DW threatened to brand me with a marshmallow skewer. That may have been called the butt show. :sad2:

Morning chaps, from sunny London. Happy 4th July to everyone over that side of the pond, and there's not too many sore heads over there. If you are having second thoughts about this whole independence thing, apparently we have a slot that just opened up....

Let's get Brexit vote going here. If one party is against the idea, then the other one has to be for it.

Happy 4th everyone. Ribs and chicken are on the menu today then fireworks tonight. They are viewable from the house so I don't need to go anywhere. May all of you wake up tomorrow with the same number of fingers you have today. Be safe.

Not sure we have a menu tonite. I'll let you know. I'm sure beer will be included.

Thanks. It is easy for my little brain to translate.

Come on, DD, no-one would seriously take a decision of such epic proportions without a rigorously vetted comprehensive plan of action.:rolleyes1

Kinda like building a wall, invading countries, bailing out banks, and passing massively expensive health insurance legislation. You all don't have exclusivity on stupid.

Been away a bit but still on the green side of the sod. Though I am sure I will miss the answer to life, the universe and everything, I am not going back to try to find it. Took a week off to head north to visit relatives...an uncle on my wife's side, two aunts on my side, and to attend my nephews graduation party. In the past 8 days, I have spent a minimum of 4 hours in the car (an Elantra) for 5 of those days. :crazy2: Needed to be done though. Neither aunt nor the uncle are doing well so it may have been a last visit with any or all of them. We did get to see some sites along the way and hit Goat Island at Niagara Falls for an hour though so it was something resembling a vacation for the kids. We left the kids in WNY with the grandparents (one to each for a week and then swapping for another week) so SWMBO gets two weeks of peace and quiet in OH and I have 4 weeks to finish up projects here before they all return for school. That was a quick summer.

I also managed to get a quote for a new roof on the "vacation" :headache: home today. $7600, about 30% higher than I was expecting. If I was 10 years younger and DS was a few years older we could do it ourselves, but at this stage in life I have learned that sometimes it makes sense to spend the money to have it done. Now I just need to come up with the money.

Take it all a day at a time a time gentlemen.

Sorry to hear that. I know saying goodbye under those circumstances can be difficult. Last summer I spent one last weekend with my grandmother when she was not doing so well. The day I said goodbye, I knew it was probably the last time. She passed a couple weeks later. Always hard, but looking on the positive side, I'm glad we had the chance to say goodbye.

Ouch. Home repairs are rarely inexpensive. But I am the same as you, I just suck it up and pay someone who knows what they are doing. I learned long ago that regardless of age, I just don't have the natural talent required to do home construction projects. Painting is as far as I go.

Happy July 5, the day some Mericans celebrate returning to work hungover with less fingers. I will be celebrating 4 more glorious days off to burn up some vacation days. Sadly, it won't be near any topless beaches.

Yup, that guy.

That guy could do hamlet and all I'm going to be thinking is........sh*tter was full.

::yes::

Prayers for your family, and good luck with the roof project. I couldn't have done that ever. I'm ok on roller coasters, but heights like being on a roof get me. And, yes, summer is way too short. I still think school should get out Memorial Day and start back after Labor Day.

Good to see some of you are up and at it after a holiday Monday. Hopefully you are all like Norm and have a few more days to recover.

Hope everyone had a good 4th yesterday. Our grill ran out of gas while cooking lunch yesterday and I had to make an emergency run to Wal-Mart for more. Doh! Fortunately, it was just the 3 of us. Made home-made ice cream too which turned out well. I think it's about the 3rd time we've used the machine since getting it years ago.

Top O the Mornin Dads! And it's goodnight for me over here down under - hope the states based dads and there families had a great 4th of July and that the Canaucks and Brits and their families had a great weekend as well.

That's a great pic Bud, enjoy the vacation

Heat index is 107 today. Have a lot of crap to do around the yard so I don't want to spontaneous combust.

And how do we know that is Sydney, Australia? That could just be a picture from Finding Nemo. :lmao:

I have one of those electric ice cream makers. Made a few batches over the years. It is time consuming and expensive for all the ingredients, but it tastes great. DW said she had a hand crank one as a child.

Life of CJ. Make sure you post when it is 60 degrees in the dead of winter. :sad2:
