DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Afternoon, men. Should be a slow few days leading up to Christmas. I am off beginning with Christmas eve and then I'm off until the new year.

My Steelers clinched a playoff spot so yesterday was a good day. Next week's game got flexed to Sunday night. Not real keen on that when it comes to these cold weather game. First world problems I guess.

Thanks for the kind words, Guys! We pray my DW will continue to improve while we are down here in Cape Canaveral until Spring.
I really need to check in more often!
We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!
I think it's time to head out to the pool with a cold one.
:cool1:

Morning All,

Chart house dinner was awesome! 3-0 this weekend. DD team won a close one to go to 4-1. DD got the game saving defensive rebound and hit the game winning shot.:thumbsup2 My team went 2-0 and basically forced a couple of wins when we were not playing at our best. Yesterday we shot 11-55 :eek:from the floor, but scrapped on the defensive end to win by 7. We adjusted our defense to take their top player out of the game. Other coach never adjusted.:sad2::sad2: I love being smarter than the other guy.:rotfl2:

Congrats on the successful weekend. It's great when the kids play well and you realize you are smarter than the other guy. :rotfl2:

We went 2 and 4 to finish 4th place in our last tournament for a bit. School ball will take over for the next few weeks before our club team gets busy again.

I think we ALL know what picture he uses to advertise his services.....:lmao: ;)

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

I was wondering why my gift had not arrived yet.:confused3
.

If you had only posted something sooner. I'm already home and I forgot to put in the mail. And I also forgot to buy it in the first place. :crazy2:

Glad you made it safely. I just throw my bags in the living room and DW does the laundry.:thumbsup2 I have been allowed to do laundry exactly 5 times since we were married and screwed it up each time. :thumbsup2 Now I'm not allowed to do it any more.:woohoo::woohoo:

Brilliant! I wish I had thought of that idea. :laundy:

If you want to back the winner, the Patriots are taking applications.:thumbsup2 The Colts, if they get to the AFC title game would have to win at Gillete. Not likely.
.

Patriots playing well, but not as good as the Seahawks. I would like to see that Super Bowl.

So i watched some of the Disney Evening on Turner Classic Movies last night. Was kinda neat to see the first episode of Disneyland from 1954. Thought it was funny how the hosts were discussing what prompted WED to put a show on about a park that hadn't opened yet. You knew they were thinking it but they didn't want to say it was the worlds first long form infomericial. I found the segment from Song of the South they played very interesting. Very obvious why Disney won't be re releasing that gem in our lifetimes. Wow. It was good stuff and it'll be fun to see what they do in the future, apparently they plan on doing this a few times a year. Also, to see how the link up with TCM turns out with the Great Movie Ride at HS.

Are they doing more of this? I'll def record if they are. I'm pretty excited about the collaboration for the Great Movie Ride.

Holiday day 3 time off Ownage.

Morning all. A stressful week for me starts today with shopping for DW, gifts for both dds and DW for stockings, drive to my parents & crazy Aunt for a visit Tuesday, outlaws Wednesday, & outlaws Thursday. I always look forward to spending my holidays with people we never spend time with throughout the remainder of the year, especially when they are so unpleasant to be around.

Good luck keeping up relations with everyone. :thumbsup2pirate:

I think that I have our Christmas Dinner menu put together.
  • Spiral ham coated with brown sugar
  • Crunchy Onion Baked Potatoes (new recipe)
  • Bacon Laden green beans (made these for Thanksgiving)
  • Hawaiian sweet rolls

For apps, we'll have a buffalo dip pickles and olives and shrimp cocktail.
Dessert will be more Christmas cookies than can possibly be consumed. My dessert will be my rum barrel aged Pumpking. Yum.

Evening or if you want to be technical, Morning.... the lunacy that is our liquor stores and Christmas time is in full swing. Only one more night to worry about (last full shopping day) then the last minute panic day Wednesday. Damn asthma and cough has been taking its toll lately adding to the stress.

Damn but that sounds good. Especially dessert. My Christmastime Beer Stash has grown to comical proportions. Tempted to grab another bottle of Steamworks Blitzen, a BC craft brewery Belgian Tripple style. It went down nice and smoothly. :thumbsup2

The cut loses its sting, the flow subsides, the pain dulls, anguish will yield…
The wound gradually mends as time wears and smooths the sharp edges plying its ceaseless vocation ever forcefully against that which resists most. The heat will dissipate but the structure will never crystallize back into perfect order. Scars are eternal; they tell our stories. Memories are a blanket that surrounds us; shields us. The needs of those we hold most dear will require our attention and draw us out into the light. Heed that call. Though the lingering ache shall never completely subside, the warmth of that light provides the most assured relief.

Hummm… that there be a lot of long words there and we’re but humble Dads.

Basically means: yes.

.

Nicely put. :thumbsup2 The day was a bust, as I started out okay but my temperament fell off a cliff and I was a snarly angry guy all day, it took me by surprise how quick I turned. Once I left work though, I was okay, so it seems to be stress that is setting me off. :confused3 Since then though I've felt remarkably at peace with the whole thing, the first time since I think. But I could be so stressed and wound up from work I just don't have time to grieve :rotfl2:

:cool1::cool1: Hey Brent. We still have our August reserved, but only 50/50 if we will be going through with it. Have fun booking. Bonus this year goes to restocking the savings after that basement project. DW is eyeing the bathrooms and foyer next. Not sure how much my wallet can take.

So far it's still a go, although I've scaled it back just a bit so far. It's crazy, I like using the crowd calendars at easywdw.com and they are now less then a month away from posting the initial August post.

Morning guys. Last full day of work this week :)

Tomorrow is the company's Christmas party and we'll be home after lunch.

It's Tuesday, do you know where your DisDads are?:lmao::lmao:

Thanks. Good Luck with the school ball. DS and his freshman team won again last night to move to 3-0. I coached most of these kids for the last 4 years and they are just slicing through the teams. Have won each game by 20+. It makes you feel good to see that you taught them well.:thumbsup2

AFC now goes through New England! :cool1::cool1: With Manning basically throwing like a 5 year old, it looks like smooth sailing for a few weeks.

:thumbsup2 Sounds yummy.

We shall be having:

- Bacon wrapped Tenderloin
- Prosciutto and cheese stuffed Turkey Breast
- Lasagna
- Glazed Carrots
- Twice mashed potatoes (Mom's recipe)
- Squash
and whatever everyone else brings.

For apps we have assorted dips and cheese and crackers.

Hey Brent. Hang in there, only a week or so left of the crazy holiday season.

Judging by last year, crowds will be 6/7 mid to late August. Kind of going for a drop off, but unlikely based on the reports I have heard.

Morning guys. Last full day of work this week :)

Tomorrow is the company's Christmas party and we'll be home after lunch.

:wave2:

Morning guys!

G'mornin!

Last full day of the year for me. Still a bit unsure about tomorrow and I may have to come in for a few hours one day next week to meet with a customer, but not much else. Looking forward to a good bit of family time.

Morning all. First Christmas today.

Good luck keeping up relations with everyone. :thumbsup2pirate:

Thanks, but there is no hope in who-ville. My family is like a scene from Christmas vacation, with all the crazy and none of the humor. DW believes Christmas should be with her parents (divorced, so that makes 2), grandparents, cousins, aunts, etc. These people are not a part of our lives, except for FB. I think Christmas should be time enjoyed with your spouse and children, which we get for a couple of hours before dashing to the next out-law Christmas. We even have to schedule Mass around everyone else's schedule.

My collection or booze keeps disappearing and I keep replacing. I need to look investigate that.

How are all the children enjoying Christmas? Is Santa still visiting?

Manning's time may be done. He has never been a great bad weather QB, and I imagine age can't help. And to think, Manning took Denver two games further than Tebow. :lmao:

Morning all. First Christmas today.

:

It's interesting. Santa is definitely not a big deal in Poland and our bio kids know Santa is the spirit of giving. The foster parents told the kids about Santa last year, so they keep expecting this guy to appear.

These last few weeks have been very stressful. The holidays are not good memories for these kids and they are all on edge. It feels like we are in constant confrontations between yelling, fighting, crying, etc.

I'm not complaining, we knew what we signed up for. The kids start therapy soon, now that they can speak and comprehend English well enough. I know this will help them deal better with their feelings.

Enjoy the time off. I get the rest of the week off after today, but need to be in the office next week as the finance department MUST be in to close the quarter.:crazy2:

Well then, Happy First Christmas! Here it is just Tuesday.:lmao::lmao:

Let's see, 2 extra games, $20M. Yup. That's about $10M per game and still no Superbowl title. He made a few good throws last night, but I saw some pretty ugly ducks flying around.

Morning everybody. I'm jealous of you guys who have already started your vacation. I'll be in through tomorrow and then done for the year.

Keep fighting the good fight, David. Over the years you will provide so many more good memories for them over the holidays.:thumbsup2
