DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning boys.
Finally got some rain last night and the city has me to thank for it.
For the past week or more, there's been rain in the forecast so have held off on watering the lawn. Finally watered it for 3 hours last evening/night. That did it. Rained all the rest of the night.

Man, I'm behind on reading posts. This week's been a tough week. I've been working 10 hour days this week,
Yup, that'll do it alright.
The good news is that we are in a super hot market, with only one other house in our subdivision for sale. And, we are on the growing side of town in a top school district. It should sell quickly, but the issue is "as is" vs renovate/update. And, if we update, then who is doing the work.
I guess it depends on "Do I want to maximize the $$$$ I'll get for it, or minimize the amount of effort I want to put in selling it."
Probably somewhere in the middle. Up to you to figure out which end of that scale you're gonna sit at.
Top O the Mornin Dads! Hope all here are doing well. Trip has been great with almost perfect weather. Some meet ups with fellow DisDads has been good as well. Here’s from last night outside Rose & Crown.
Bunch of reprobates!

Hopefully your agent has a good idea for ROI...

When we were selling our house in GA, DW decided she wanted everything she'd ever felt wasn't perfect to be done before we sold. One of the items was new windows and doors, which cost almost 25K. I GUARANTEE we did not get 25K more for the house as a result. Also, because of everything she thought HAD to he done, we missed the best sell time(spring) and hit the worst(fall).

I can't prove it, but with what I spent vs. What I got, figure we lost 40-50K in the process.

I've heard the housing market is pretty crazy right now. A real seller's market. I'd probably lean towards selling as is with the demand out there.

Good work, fellas. Hope you're having a great time.

Hey, maybe I should try that! My grass is turning brown already and the weather hasn't even gotten hot yet.

Ugh. If I put that much into renovations, I'd want to stick around and enjoy the new stuff! :rotfl2:

Jeez, leave for a couple of days and the clubhouse shuts down for lack of participation.

Glad to be home, Jodi and I have come to the realisation that Disney, like fish and visitors goes bad after 3 days...

Last hard day of work at home, removing the last of the hoard, then played tennis with dd, them cut the grass, and then took a nap. It's been a good week and get to go back to work Monday. Got my schedule for June, and I work 2 or 3 days per week, which was what I wanted. I'll be on the new 10 hour shifts. USTA tennis match for me tomorrow AM. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Another DDC convention in the books.

DW just wants to sell as is. I certainly don't want to do the work, but I recognize that there needed to be some minor things done to make the house more attractive to buyers.

Realtor agreed, but had a shorter list than I originally thought. She recommended new paint, carpet in living room, 1 BR, and new floors in the bathroom. She also has the business contacts and a crew to get cheaper prices and work completed quick.

I like the house more now that we have gotten rid of the hoard. Still, it doesn't matter. We will be gone in August, assuming the house sells.

Huh? Disney went bad after 3 days? I think you may be doing it wrong then.

So who went to the hospital with the nail through the foot? You or FIL?

Nothing that serious, although it scared the crap out of me. When I put in a nail, the air deflector came flying off the end and caught me in the neck just to the right of my Adam's Apple and under my jaw. It hurt but nothing too bad.

Welcome to the disdads club!!!

Your official disdads number is 1.

Please see page 1 for rules and other places we can be found online.

Okay, you're gonna have to clarify that.
Short story long... We are AP’s members, this trip we stayed off site. AP members only get 3 park passes if staying off site. We had the 1st part of the week covered and were waiting to make more as we used them up... Then like 3 days before we get there, Disney changes the mask policy... and just like that, park passes are gone...
We did our 3 days in the park and really had a great time, best part was when we hung out with the other DisDads who were there. And we were fried! So we came home early. Sure we could have done other things while there and maybe get into the parks later in the day if passes became available, but we had nothing planned... and I swear to the gods, if we don’t have something planned, Jodi and I will sit there and say “well. What do you want to do?” Over and over and over... and we were fried! Next time we will stagger the park day to every other day and plan another activities if we can’t get passes again.
It was kind of a perfect storm kind of thing. If we had any idea this would have happen, we could asked someone staying on site to add us to their reservations.
😏 we’re just not as young as we used to be. 🤣

I had no idea.
I mean I knew about the mask policy, but not about the 3 days only and how you would be affected. Huh.

What? When did that happen?
Yes, we went to Canada...

They spelled it backwards. That's how I know you took this from the other side of the border.

Morning, Gents! Schedule wise I had yesterday off, so I got to sleep in to 5am! Woohooo! 5am! Man that felt good. 😆 Spent most of yesterday morning getting some much needed things done with the DW. At some point we stopped off and got some beer and lunch, so, you know....the essentials. I then waited for the DW and d waited for the DW to leave for school, she teaches part-time, before I sat down in my chair and inspected the inside of my eyelids. The DD and DW came home from school, and because it was so nice outside I took the DD to the beach for a couple of hours. Today we're going to head to New Bedford to visit the Whaling Museum, so looking forward to that. That's kind of the plan for the day. Have a good day, gents.

Morning all. I really have enjoyed this week off from work. I forgot what it was like.

Can't wait until I can experience that again. Glad you had the time off.

Made another run to the giveaway store to get rid of the rest of the hoard, just in time for the realtor today. We still have a hoard, but maybe now it is just a normal hoard. :lmao:

Oh I so need to do that.

That's nice when that happens.

I won't be on 10s until June. And then, it may be 3 days a week. I like the idea, as like you said, the extra day off a week is great. For us, the extra start time is nice to be able to review charts. It's the hour at the end of the day, which was a deal breaker, with coaching HS tennis.

I'm going to stay PRN for awhile to see how many hours I get and whether or not I like it. If I don't get enough hours, then I may have to consider returning to full time.

It's a tough thing because each schedule has its advantages. I like getting out at 4pm, but having a day off during the week is nice, too. So I go back and forth.

How many hours have you been working? Have they cut your hours down to much?

Morning boys.

I laughed hard at this because this has happened to me a few times. "Hmmm. We need rain, so I think I'll wash my car."

Yup, that'll do it alright.

It's been an exhausting week. I don't mind working 10 hour days, but this was tough this week. It's been this week, more than others, that I realized that I really need to lose weight. Losing weight will help with my trip to Da World! :thumbsup2

Hopefully your agent has a good idea for ROI...

Nice! :)

You and me both. :sad2:

Eventually, Disney may let us return to normal. Sure, Dr. Fauci (CDC) admitted he lied and that the previous advice of wearing masks after double vaccination was pure theater. I guess Disney will virtue signal a bit longer.

Glad you're ok.

My June schedule is 2 or 3 days a week. Combined with my retirement, it comes close to my previous income between the 2 jobs. 3 days a week may be better for me, although, not sure I can always get that.
