‘Morning all…
Break’s over, back on your heads.

Hey Guys,

Have to say this is one crummy trip in the Keys. The weather has sucked. Yes, for all of you up north, it is warm but we are talking 24/7 rain since we got here. Puts a damper on anything you want to do. Sea conditions suck. 4-6 foot seas and visibility is crapola.

The worst was the Brit sliced part of his finger on a defective chair (long story) and a lot of time was wasted in Emergency Rooms. One to take the sliced part of his finger off and the other to get the bandage changed. Even if conditions were tolerable, he couldn't dive. Not the getaway I was hoping for.

Not looking for a pity party, just venting.

Internet is intermittent and will catch up on what I missed when I get back to Miami. Hope the last few days are going better for everyone else.

So it is possible to be miserable in the Keys…
Who’d a thunk.

Sorry for the misery and especially for the Brit. I’ve been to the ER for a mangled finger before.
***shudder***

Morning guys !!

We. Started out our day at AK yesterday, we had some FP set up already and jumped right in. The safari was first up and was great very active animals...some a little too active. A group decided to block the road and stop the vehicle for about 10 minutes. Kinda fun to see how the driver handled it. She called in for back up but they decided to clear out before back up arrived. Next up was Everest, I went with DS this time and it was awesome as usual. Then shot over to Dinosaur, we let the kiddos go alone because we only had two FPs left because we used the others at Everest. We walked around a little and had an ice cream and it was time for our Festival of the Lion King FP. Our return time was 12:30-12:50 and the show started at 1. We got in line at 12:40 and had a line up for FP and stand by. They let us in and we were about 5 rows back. Not bad idea if waiting with little ones is an issue, but with my kids being older I would probably just wait stand by and use the FP on something else. The show is IMO the best show on property. Just plain amazing.
Next up was some pool time and then some more F&W time. We actually had my cousin and his family here at the same time, they were staying at the Swan, his kids are very young 6 and 1 so they travel very different than we do, we actually travel well together because there is no pressure from either side to travel together like a Borg collective. We meet up when we can and leave it at that. We walked around the world had a few drinks and some snacks and had some fun. We were planing on hitting 12-2am EMH but we were all a little pooped and I checked the wait times and it seemed pretty crazy still.
Off to bed to make rope drop!!

Another good day by my reckoning.
Keep it up and again, thanks for the pictures. They help a lot.

We had Trunk or Treat at church last night. Perfect weather!!!! I think we had 30 cars participating this year and the number of kids was more than I had seen at this event in the past. EVERYONE ran out of candy! The guy beside of us and his family did a Fozen theme, and ours was The Incredibles...well his battery died and he didn't have any jumper cables...but guess who did! Yep Mr Incredible to the rescue!:rotfl2:

“Show Time…”
That’s the way to be prepared. Sounds like a good time all around.

I'm sorry I have to admit there was a point where I stopped "tasting" and I was just "drinking" ;)

:lmao: :rotfl2:

I had a great football day. Was able to meet up with a few different friends to tailgate before the Steelers game and then got to see a highly entertaining game.

I thought Brady had a heckuva day until I witnessed Roethlisberger put up 500 yards and 6 TDs. Not sure I'll witness anything like that again.

The amusing thing is that last week the locals were calling for heads ranging from coaches to players. This week the sports shows will be full of callers talking about the team being SB contenders.

Certainly a better Sunday outcome that what we generally see around here.
But my Saturday’s have been going considerably better than expected. Western Carolina normally averages around two wins a year (or less) but is currently 6-2. We’re all still scratching our heads to tryin’ and figure that one out.

Sorry to hear that. I feel bad that they’re issuing warnings and taking down such posts here. I think their problem isn't that anyone is selling anything so much as it’s driving the conversations away from the community board. They’re losing their traffic which is the same as losing customers in their monetizing model. Since I’m currently booked on the same cruise as you, I’m part of the same thread you’re talking about. It’s been open since Mach of this year yet has only 77 total posts right now. The last several cruise threads I’ve been part of had conversations spread across thousands of posts by this point and that is what’s scaring the folks that run the boards. They see that their community is dying.

I’ve also joined the group out on the other site and for the majority of folks with the right personality; the natural extroverts who enjoy living their lives out loud, it’s a convenient and very easy environment for them to keep in touch with all their interests. But as a minority introvert, here’s where that trend disables me…

Over here I know who I’m talking to and what their connection to me is. I also know that folks who aren't taking part or aren't interested generally don’t even show up. Over there, most of the commentary on posts comes from an individual posters inner circle of closer friends and family and I’m left feeling like I’m rather intruding in their world instead of being part of a specific larger group. I read along with the groups I’m part of over there, but I feel almost compelled not to add to the conversation because of the vast array of outside folks who I’m unfamiliar with and who am pretty sure (in my mind) don’t want me interfering in their private party. It frustrates me to the point of almost giving up.

I'm right there with you. I'm not a big fan of facebook, myself. I tend to keep most of my posting over there to closed threads rather than the general newsfeeds. And even at that, I rarely ever use facebook unless I'm just really bored and sitting around with my phone trying to kill time. :rotfl:

Top O the Mornin Dads! :coffee: Another Monday has brought an end to another nice weekend. Get to schedule FP+ this week so not all bad.

Well played Disney... Well played.

Morning all. Younger dd's team finished 2nd in soccer tournament this weekend. They lost in a sudden death OT, which I've not seen as usual rules of soccer. Still, season is over and on to basketball.

Sorry to hear about the family funk, not sure I get the the "allowed" -- hang in there.
.

It is the longstanding dynamic that we consistently argue about. Her family prioritizes BIL and revolve all their activities and decisions around him.

The guy beside of us and his family did a Fozen theme, and ours was The Incredibles...well his battery died and he didn't have any jumper cables...but guess who did! Yep Mr Incredible to the rescue!:rotfl2:

Steve to the rescue. Great work superhero.

I'm sorry I have to admit there was a point where I stopped "tasting" and I was just "drinking" ;)

Is there a problem with this? :lmao:

Ultimatums and misspelled tattoos. Not a great way to start Monday.

Well guys according to multiple sites Legend of Jack Sparrow and The Sorcerers Hat are getting the axe, Sparrow by early Nov and Hat as early as January.

Never checked out Sparrow but heard a lot of negative. I know The Hat was mixed but I've always liked it. I guess they want the Chinese Theatre to be the focal point again.
Was Legend of Jack Sparrow right next to TSM? That thing you just walked through? We did it once. It was just ok, but it had some neat effects. I liked the sorcerer's hat. Oh well.
I had a great idea for next year's trip. FIL is taking both families (4, 6, 2) to Universal & Sea World in the summer, whenever his heinness, King BIL, decides to take his vacation. BIL plans to let us know in January sometime. My idea is to add a week at WDW following that trip for a 2 week vacation.

DW's response - we might not be allowed to do so. :headache: :furious:

When does his heinness, King BIL, who mooches $20K of his mother's retirement funds, $5K from 88 year old great-grandmother, and unknown from everyone else, get appointed king? Or better yet, when does King Mooch BIL get to decide when my family goes on vacation? But, this one is on DW. She still worships the King and her family of origin. Then, we rank in there somewhere.
That sounds super annoying.

I'm still available for a second year of Chris. I've got a lot of ideas for your money. :lmao:

Normally, we zip thru MNSSHP. We've been able to do the three mountains and all our plans before. This year was way crowded, not sure if it was sold out, and we did not ride nearly as much as we wanted. So, just have your game plan of what is most important - waiting hours for picture(s), premium parade/ firework seating, rides, candy, etc.
Get your plans off my money! As long as CJ doesn't realize you have his credit card, you've got all the purchasing power you need.

As for MNSSHP, I'm sure they've raised the "capacity" since they clearly have a great event. It bugs me that the exclusivity of it may be waning though. DD really wants a picture with the dwarves so that will crush our ride plans. I figure we'll catch the late parade to hit rides at that time instead. I guess it will be ok though. I've got FPs for 7DMT, Splash and Space before the party even starts.
Sorry Steve, looks like Facebook is where most of the dads are posting these days anyways.
Drag. I'm not a facebooker. There are a lot of very entertaining posters who just don't come around here much anymore.

Well played Disney... Well played.

I get one this week!! Although I take mine with vanilla and orange swirl. Perhaps an adult version at F&W!

I know in order to be a part of a group, it's Important to renew my membership from time-to-time.

and, ya know... now's as good a time as any.

Ever since my computer moved out of my living room, I spend less time on the boards.

If I were funnier, I'm sure you'd all miss that. But, since I'm, well, square, my absences is rarely missed, I'm sure.

I'm thinking of going as Pavlov for Halloween. Some may not get it, but for others it will ring a bell.

I managed to get thru 70 work emails this AM. But, since I'm in the mega-bureaucracy, there were really less than 10, with the original message being forwarded by each boss. :teacher:

That's not a perfect float IMO.... needs the pineapple ice cream. popcorn::

You're both wrong. The best is pineapple/vanilla dole whip swirl in pineapple juice.

The last time I updated my fb status was almost 2 months ago on my birthday. I'll post in ddc fb more often than my newsfeed.

Enjoy your last year of Chris trip :thumbsup2

For all these trips I went in with the attitude that it's ok to miss something because I'll be back in a few months. Now it's like I need to do everything because I won't be back for a few years. Is it weird to be depressed heading in to a WDW trip? I think I'm going to turn our AP's in to Christmas ornaments as a way to remember this year.

Anyway, I may try to hold off on returning until they do whatever it is they're going to do with DHS. In the meantime, I'll think about a cruise.

I mean aside from being at Disney on a Monday.

Add rum and any of those Dole Whip options will do just nicely.

Afternoon gentlemen,

Stretch and Peanut, together known as Chaos and Mayhem, are officially 6. Saturday was their party and yesterday we took them the the Mall of America to pick out their presents. I will not be leaving work early any time soon.

Hope all are well I hope to be posting more once I get the house put back together later this week.

Like the ornament idea a lot :thumbsup2 You are on to something with DHS - it sounds like it could be a mess for a while. Let us know how MK and the hub is, or anyone else that has been there lately as we are going to be there Dec 28 - Jan 1 and I am concerned that the Hub construction is just gonna be a cluster during that time of the year.
