Morning

Maybe the contract takes down those oil derricks for you.

Haven't seen those suckers for years, apparently they were a hazard of some kind (falling over I think, or possibly used to smash in the doors :rotfl2:) So the board removred them years ago. I suspect the photo was old. DW thought it was my old store, looked just like that, save for the banners out front, a city by-law prevents most stores from having them around here (unless they are older stores)

And for the 5 or years they were up, we never did strike oil.:sad2:

I just saw on Twitter Disney is opening the park up at 4:30 am on the 24th for a preview showing of Monsters University. You have to sign up and have park admission. I'm not going to try to make it. Way too early.

EDITED: Made the mistake of telling the kid so she sent them an email. Will see if we registered before it filled up.

EDITED AGAIN: Filled already. Must have just missed it. Looks like they are limiting it to a low number. Not saying I am broken hearted about it though.

He starts this fall at Western Carolina University up in the Smokys near Ashville NC, studying Music Performance and Music Education. Its one of the best arts and performance schools in the region (and close enough to home that his momma would allow it).

Good for him. Gorgeous area.

Cool that someone picked up their dinner. Do you think this is your new SIL?

Umm, NO!

I took DW out to lunch today. Just to keep the weirdness going, she tells me that FIL called her this AM and said that he wants to have a retirement party in 2015. She said he plans to retire earlier that year, and to celebrate, he wants to have his two children, their spouses, and his grandchildren all go on vacation together...

Let the fun begin. Not sure what I would think about doing that.

Going to be a long night.... Already got my work done. Only six hours to go!

It seems like he is hanging around a lot. What other reason could there be?

And, as if it couldn't get weirder, BIL and SIL will be having their 4th child. Let's see - still renting, momma pays $20K to get their cars un- repossessed, FIL pays for their Disney vacation and gives them is truck to drive down there along with his credit card for gas, and they are having yet another child they cannot afford. And, we get to go on vacation with them. I have mixed feelings. I don't have to pay for it, so that is good. But, I really don't want to be around them. DW wants to go, so I guess I have to be there. Maybe I'll recommend Miami and I can go over and hide and your house.

That sounds like my usual day. Smartphone time.

Back home from tournament soccer weekend. Team won both games today, and has two games tomorrow in order to win championship. DD didn't score a goal, but she played well in both games.

Afternoon gentlemen. I'm way behind on the boards. We are just wrapping up a garage sale. We exceeded expectations on sales. I was taking a nap yesterday while DW ran the sale and the kiddos were watching Disney Junior. Apparently they thought it would be a good idea not to disturb us and help themselves to the BIG box of fruit snacks. :scared:

Hi everyone. Looks like I'm 20 pages behind. Hope all is well with everyone. I've taken the last few days of from the office job and been working on the farm. Just finished a 16 hour day and laying in bed unable to sleep. We've been racing the rain and I hear thunder right now. Only 70 acres of corn left to plant, but it is wet ground that we just worked up this evening and it needs to get some more air and be worked up again before we plant it. We could be done with corn early tomorrow afternoon if the rain holds up. Still a few hundred acres of soybeans left to plant though.

DS has been riding with me in the tractor again. Thought we were going to have to go to the ER last night when he shut his finger in the door. I don't think it is broken, but I'm pretty sure he'll lose a finger nail. He screamed like crazy and after we went home and cleaned it up, he wanted to go back with me instead of staying home with mom. This morning, he was supposed to go to the sitter, but asked to go with me instead. He stayed in the tractor all day, even after it tried to take his finger yesterday. He definitely has a new respect for that door now though.
Glad he had such a good time.

It’s an interesting day in our miniscule world down here.

There’s been one of those major shifts in reasoning that occurs within those households blessed with young’ens. Today is the day that all arguments officially (and legally) move away from the notion of “Because I said so…”, and land squarely in the realm of “Hay, my house, my rules; don’t like it… well then there’s the door”. I am no longer the legal guardian of anyone other then myself (and maybe the cat… I was never in charge of DW and that’s a good thing).

According to the laws of the land my son became and adult today; responsible for his own actions, and due the same benefits and/or constraints that befall all the rest of us (with the exception of having a beer, which in my opinion is wrong, unfair and improper… either you are an adult or you aren’t… but I digress).

Anyway… I’d like to publically wish my son a happy 18th Birthday.

:bday:

May god have mercy on his sole.
:rotfl2:
Happy Birthday Max. Welcome to reality.

She said he plans to retire earlier that year, and to celebrate, he wants to have his two children, their spouses, and his grandchildren all go on vacation together. The conditions - it has to be within 1 day driving's distance, everyone has to agree, and no fighting among anyone.

The good news is that he is paying.
The bad news is that it is with the mooching BIL.
The better news is that BIL and I just do not speak at any family functions, so we get along great. :lmao:

So, we are probably looking at July of 2015. The other good thing going is FIL does not like the ocean. Obviously, I suggested WDW. I think BIL would be ok with Disney, but his even more evil wife will probably say no to Disney, just because she knows that is where I want to go. So, hopefully I can get them to go to Universal, and then I can add a few more days to WDW at the end of that trip.
Good luck with that plan.

Well done. How is DD taking not being coached by you?

Anyone need some Father's Day gift ideas?

Congrats to DD and the team. Sorry about the family issues. It doesn't sound like BIL and SIL are that ambitious so maybe they will be just hanging out in the room and you can enjoy your trip.

I like yard sales. I get to get rid of the crap DW buys for the house and get some extra cash. If it doesn't sell, then it goes to St. Vincent de Paul and I get tax deduction and still get rid of stuff.

She doesn't like it. Even when her team wins, if she didn't score a goal or at least have some offensive opportunities, she gets all whiny. But, her coach isn't really teachg them anything. He asked me to help with practices, and I did the first 5 of them - different skills, drills, and fun for the players. After that, I missed a couple with work/being sick, so he just stopped having practices. :worried:

Congrats and good luck tomorrow.

Thanks.

Yeah, FIL said we had to agree on a vacation destination within a 1 day drive. So, DW suggested that we just each name three places each. BIL suggests San Antonio, Williamsburg, and Universal. So, it looks like we'll go to Universal and then see if we can add on some Disney days after all the idiots leave. They just hate me so much, that they will refuse to allow me to go to WDW, and try to to Universal with a 15 month old baby.

Saturday night ownage.

We went to Logan's Roadhouse for dinner tonight. I got their original roadies - mini burgers served on those great yeast roles. Neither dd wants to eat off the kids menu anymore. So, we got steak & ribs with two sides, and one ate a steak and fries and the other ribs and fries. When did your kids stop eating of the kid menu? Mine are 11 & 8.

DS 11 quit about a year ago. He goes through fazes though. I've seen him get filled on a bowl of ceral and seen him eat 3/4 of a Litttle Ceasars pizza in one sitting. DD 9 still eats off the kids menu

Pretty quiet night. Guess I will call it a night and put in Fort Apache. popcorn::

Rarely post in the Dad thread, but thought I would stop by....

It is a good time of years....springs sports are all wrapped up, school has about 3 more weeks and Disney is a mere 29 days a way....and my mother dropped off two pressed Cubans.
