Still mourning this news that broke over the weekend...

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/11/starbucks-locations-at-magic-kingdom-park-epcot-set-to-open-next-year/

I don't make it to WDW very often... and I've never done the DP, so I was really looking forward to visiting the Main Street Bakery during our visit in early February.

Guess I'll get my gooey cinnamon rolls at Gaston's!

Not thrilled about this either, but Starbucks has zero appeal to me, I don't really like coffee. :crazy2: DW really enjoyed spending the last hour of the EMH sitting there enjoying an icecream-cookie sandwich while I run around getting rides in. We'll have to see what changes are made.

What I can't figure out though, is why change an institution like the Bakery?

Very sad news indeed. While I know this is not going to change anything... it sure felt great to give my opinion! :lmao:

Cant wait to see this movie I love the new Bond, Daniel Craig is a perfect new one!

Ok. Got to bring this to everyone's attention. But when you fictionally eat an entire body like in this situation. There would be bones laying around? Entire body would not fit inside one walker so is there more fat zombies? But again like when they ate T-Dog they left all them bones and still parts of him everywhere and there were two walkers there.

But it was a REALLY fat zombie! HAHA! :rotfl2:

Maybe he ate the bones too?

I'm with ya, but still enjoying the show.

Seriously wrong. I had to chuckle about it though. I guess this is just a sign of Main Street USA trying to keep that feel of how Main Street feels in just about every other town in the country. Next thing you know the emporium will be replaced by a CVS and a Walgreens across from each other.

I would be just fine with the concept of it if they would just serve Starbucks coffee and keep the bakery's menu, but it doesn't look like that's the case. I know I have to attend a couple of conferences every year and for one of them Starbucks is the only breakfast option. I typically buy some juice and some kind of over hardened not so good pastry.:confused3 The other conference has a Starbucks in the hotel and a McDonalds about a block away, so I make the walk rain or shine. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I'm not a coffee drinker, but for those that are, I welcome the addition of Starbucks. I just wish it would be integrated in a more harmless way, kind of like how the Mc Donalds representation in the parks was in the Outpost, not in Tony's Town Square.

Very sad news indeed. While I know this is not going to change anything... it sure felt great to give my opinion! :lmao:

Petition for Main Street Bakery
After last week's election and butting heads with corporations over a couple of other things this past week, I'm not sure my opinion is worth the time it takes to express it. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

OK. So the neighborhood coordinator (I guess that's what we call her as she seems to have appointed herself:rolleyes1) decided we are having a Christmas lights competition this year. We have about 40-50 houses in our little cluster so I'll send some pictures once everyone gets going. I for one took advantage of the 50 degree day yesterday and put lights on the house while cleaning the gutters. My wallet did not appreciate the cost of the new LED lights.:headache:

Does anyone else do this? My first thought when I heard was the light cannon in the grinch movie. :lmao::lmao:

2 things:

1. Happy to see Starbucks coming to WDW, they Really need real coffee there, sad that it's taking over Main Street Bakery.

2. I guess I don't need to see this weeks Walking Dead, or last weeks ether.

Oh, wait, 3 things:

3. The Pork Shank Rock!

Live in an apartment, dont do lights. Some do their balconies, but ours faces away from the main roads, we'd never see them.

Thank goodness this is a short work week. Boss has decreed that to save $$ we shorten the night shifts by one staffer. Never mind that:

1) 80% of the day staff leave things for the night shift to finish, it might interrfere with gossip/talking/milling about

2) He adds more tasks to the nights, since apparently he thinks all customers go home at 6 (In reality, we do almost 1/2 the business for the day in the last 4 hours) so there is nothing to do.

3) Half the people who works nights are on modified work, meaning you have to cover for them to begin with.

What the beverly......

I put lights around our house... no contest in the 'hood, though. Just white C9's (haven't switched to LED's yet... but probably should as it saves $$.) The biggest pain (and time) is attaching clips to the gutter so the lights have a "uniform" appearance. DW likes it that way... so I comply. ::yes::

Little do you know, he wields that kind of power, lol

I'm not super excited about it, but I can't imagine that Disney would put anything in there that will be in bad taste. I'm hoping they would just add the Starbucks coffee menu and leave in the Disney selections, but it looks they are going more with a Starbucks menu.

In a way, they are. I'm not cancelling the cruise. The school will either be giving us a 2 week vacation or a 1 week vacation.

The power of the Dark Side.

I do believe , norm holds that power! Haha
I fully agree, I'm joining that boat, I'm waiting for DDs future school system to put out next years schedule before I can go forward with oct DL plans, well also waiting on that 7month window and my dvc contract to be finalized but that beside the point lol the schools need to have this stuff figured out so us dads can make Disney plans or we just go rogue like norm lol

Can't wait to try one in 89 days!

How different is it from the Turkey leg? (besides the obvious difference in that its not turkey....:))

I never had the turkey leg at Disney, seems to much work with the bone things to try to eat around. The Shank is big enough for two. A very big chunk of MEAT! It falls off the bone. They did a wonder job of seasoning that gave it a great flavor. For $8 well worth it.

Maybe he ate the bones too?

Everybody knows they grind up the bones to make their bread. Or maybe that's Ogres. Or Giants. Whatever.

David - good luck on the adoption. I'd lend some advice, but DD's adoption was completely different so there's probably not a lot I can help you with.

I've tossed my two cents out over on FB regarding Starbucks. As Stopher pointed out, the location was set months ago and just released last week. Disney, Starbucks and I'm sure an armada of corporate lawyers sat down to hash out just what type of signage/menu/location/foot traffic/etc each place would get. Look at the two that have been announced so far - the bakery and the Fountain View ice cream shop in Epcot. Right in the middle of the main traffic areas in each park. Starbucks wants as many people as possible to walk right past their shops. I have faith that the Imagineers make the signage tasteful and unobtrusive - unless the Starbucks corporate lawyers make them do it otherwise.:sad2:

I probably should have taken advantage of the weather to do the same, but I just can't do Christmas lights until after Thanksgiving...

Yes you do... There is way more than what we are talking about!

We still have our Halloween decorations up. :rolleyes2 Talked to DW and we decided that when we finally have the free time (this weekend. hopefully), we'll just box up the Halloween stuff and go straight to Christmas. No sense in packing all that stuff away in the basement, then 3 weeks later pulling all other stuff out.

Some of ours qualify as Halloween/Thanksgiving/Fall/Harvest decorations. But some are ghosts and gobins and witches and Disney characters wearing costumes. It's hard to convince myself that Eeyore wearing a witch hat is actually a pilgrim. :lmao:

Pic as promised. Hopefully it comes through OK. I have been trying to get the pic to post since Friday.:confused3

Great. A new pic for my dartboard, Nemesis. Good to put a face on all the nemie stuff. Sounded like a great meet. I need to work out going to a game at Fenway next year.

I don't drink coffee but people I know hate the stuff they sell at Disney. When I was a DL, we went into Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Cafe which is their "Starbucks" location. Other than a discreet signage you would't know it. It was also well themed. I'm sure (or hope) they will do the same on Main Street and keep a lot of the Bakery's food offerings.
