So today's been a pretty busy day here on the DIS...

Kinda reminds me of pre-other sight days.

Hello gentlemen,
I am officially a mail carrier for the US Postal Service. During the OJT I actually delivered a tray of mail, about 50 or so of the 478 mailboxes, on the route I will be subbing for. As the route I am assigned to does not have a scheduled day off (regular carrier works six 7 hour days) and the carrier does not have any planned time off, I was told I will be trained soon on another route to be #2 sub. I told the supervisor that I am available to work and I was told that when I make it through probation (and possibly before if I show promise) after I have been trained on 3 or 4 routes at this Post Office, I could be lent to others who are often in chronic need of subs, but cannot hire anymore due to regulations.

It has been quite a chatty day. What's for dinner in Canada tonight?

Beef Ribs, rice, asparagus...

Except for my daughter, she had soup and pasta.

She had an orthodontist appointment this morning, and now her mouth hurts (and so does my wallet).

Congrat's Andrew! :thumbsup2

And, the drug industry set record profits last year with record low tax rates.

Thanks. The wisdom of my elders. I'm thinking dues are in Jan, so I may buy them in June or July. The only holdup now is the two trips. I really liked the week in Hilton Head, but if I get an AP, I won't go back there. What other discounts do you get?

oh let see. reg. ap (not the one with water parks) is 10 percent off at world of disney. they are alot of dining discounts (lunches). theres alot.
one thing to remember. when i got my aps, the first day you use it,the first time you stick into a turnstile, thats your renewal date. so, dec 1st comes around each year, i pay for two and they send me a voucher. (you get the renewal price plus the $100 off dvc member discount ) now when i go down in may, i take my voucher over to coustomer servive at dtd and they give me the live ticket. that ap expires dec 1st. if i lived closer, i could go to dtd and get my ticket every dec1st. now, if i dont pay my renewal by dec 1st, i start over again with a full price ap less dvc disount. did i explain that ok?

Ouch- on both counts. My oldest had an orthopedic expander so that was $2K. But, it is paid for. He had several of here baby teeth pulled to open up her mouth. I thought she had a big enough mouth like her mother already. So, we still checks her, but it won't until all the adult teeth come in that a decision will be made on braces.

you explained it well. I checked on another site about dining discounts. I think it is great with I gt my DVC discount dining, but I don't go out of my way for it. I still pick the places I want to eat.

Our decision now is do we want to go to WDW twice a year forever? I really enjoyed that HHI trip, and we saved a lot of money as we didn't buy tickets or much merchandise, but I also missed WDW. If we go AP, there will be no HHI or VB trips.

That's exactly what she got...

How long did she wear it for? And any discomfort?

A little at the beginning when we turned it, but not for long. She wore it a total of 6 months. But, after that was out, he built her different retainers, done multiple sets of x-rays, sent to dentist to have teeth pulled, and keeps on seeing her once a month even though we are paid in full.

DW went to this orthodontist when she was a child, so he is old school. DW still has her retainer from when she was a patient, and it still fits. So, I guess it's working.

Beef!! Awe, I just had a salad with some grilled chicken on it. Good thing I had the back up bag of bacon in the fridge to put on it.

Not looking forward to the days when DD needs mouth work.

A chatty day again today. Maybe I'll catch up this weekend. Hopefully only one more day with the electricians at the house. DW insists I sit and "keep an eye on things" even though they were in there all day with out me. I suppose I should be happy though. The fact that the university if finally bringing the house up to code means it won't be condemned like they did two others recently.

They could take back some of the coach's salary and upgrade them quicker, but that probably won't happen.

Just lovely...discover tonight someone helped themselves to my stash of Coca Cola at work, took it all. Place just gets better and better...:headache::sad2:

On the plus side, when I grabbed the mail tonight, found a PIN code for free dining late August.Sept this year. Wouuld have been nicer to be for next year though. :lmao: Still, been a while since I got a pin, nice feeling, even if I can't use it.

Sure, what our health care doesn't cover, my benefit package takes care of it ;)

Old man talk....

I got a new scrip from my doctor for my cholesterol medicine because he was not happy with how the other one was working. Took it to get filled and they wanted $158 :scared1:

I told them to hold, I was thinking there had to be a cheaper option since I take a minimum dosage. I called the doctor and he gave some kind of discount card. The new price?? $14 :thumbsup2

Who is to blame for these absurd drug prices???

glad you got the discount card!! DD was on Xopenex for a while, and then they stopped covering it. We had to switch, or pay full price. :scared1:

So, an actual Disney question. Someone check my math please for 2 trips a year.

An AP, for 4 with DVC discount is $1676. That would be approximate equivalent of a 3 day ticket ($928) and a 2 day ticket ($672).

An AP renewal with same discount for 4 would be $1096. That would be approximate equivalent of a 2 day ticket ($672) and a 1 day ticket ($340).

I never realized the renewal was that much cheaper. We like to do parks every other day. The downside is the initial payment, but the renewal certainly makes it make more sense. We did Hilton Head this year, but probably will do WDW more often. What am I missing here?

That point about the renewals has me reconsidering the purchase. Bottom line is that we won't decide until we get there. Going to purchase MYW tickets ahead of time, and if our budget allows, AND if it makes sense, bridge them to APs.

Thanks. The wisdom of my elders. I'm thinking dues are in Jan, so I may buy them in June or July. The only holdup now is the two trips. I really liked the week in Hilton Head, but if I get an AP, I won't go back there. What other discounts do you get?

Allears has a couple of PDFs that break it down. One for dining, the other for non-dining. Compares DVC, AP, and TIW.

NON-DINING: http://allears.net/pl/disc_other.pdf

SO thanks to all of you for the welcomes. Dues are in the mail.

As mentioned before I am sharing my love of Disney with my students at school all the time. I got a report today that one of my former students auditioned at Disneyland Paris today and was hired. She contacted her mom who is a colleague of mine and asked her to let me know!

So excited that I have passed on the CM legacy to one of my "kids"!

Welcome!! Congrats to your "Kid"!!

Congratulations on the job!! does this mean you'll be making little voodoo dolls of various postal workers to get them to take time off??

so... the expiration date is one year from purchase, but renewal date is one year from first use?? Or is what you are saying is that your very first AP was used on dec 1, and that's why it's your renewal date for all subsequent APs??
