And you didn't even declare "B"ownage...:lmao:

Totally accidental this time... :confused3

Awwwww… I say go for it.
We get so few little wins on a day to day bases.

Thanks, Rob, but I need so little encouragement to misbehave!

Every year we have a kid and dog friendly New Years Eve party. It is so that the Parents that want to go out and have a good time without drinking can..with thier kids. We set up a tv in one of the kids rooms and put the dvd and game system in there. Then the adults and thier dogs if the bring them have the rest of the house to play, talk and relax. This year we will have 2 big screens to play MW3 and anything else.
For food we have eaveryone stop by thier favorite restraunt and order the "Sampler Platter" and bring that. YUMMY

Sounds great! I'm working a 24-hour shift on Friday and another on Sunday, so if the hospital is still slow (and I hope it is!), I'll probably be burning through another thread.

Baby New Year! We've all seen pictures of you in the shower, Carl :scared1:

But the card was great! Didn't realize all your kids had "B" names!

Speaking of pics in the shower we are due for a photo blitz Do we want to do it here on FB or both? I was thinking of new yrs eve... We could all post our midnight(or close to midnight for some of us ) pitures..... what you guys think we are way over due for one!

I have never stayed at either.

We are staying at POR in August.

If you check the resort board, there's usually a thread on comparing the two...

We chose POR because from what I've read, people say they prefer it. It's a bit bigger, more spacious. Nice gardens, and paths. Yeehaw Bob plays in the restaurant. And it is currently being refrubed so all rooms have Queen size beds.

With that said, I believe POFQ has already completed the refurb, and all rooms do have Queen Size beds. The counter serve also has Beinettes.

My friend is going the exact same time as me, and has booked POFQ. He has never been to WDW.

We stayed at POR last August, and then for a single night back in Nov. (The single night was because we did one night there, then the rest at OKW.) We have not stayed at POFQ, so I cannot compare the two from personal experience, but for POR:

POR has a nice, relaxed feel. Nice paths, and we had a refurbed room on our second stay, which was very nice. (Not sure we had a queen bed though, but the trundle was a big plus for DD.) As a family, we loved the bathrooms - double sinks, but outside the shower/bath area, with a curtain that can be pulled to screen the sinks from the rest of the room. There can be a bit of a hike to a bus stop, however it is no worse than some of the other resorts, and actually better than OKW.

It is a bit of a hike to get the beignets, but there is a boat service between the two, although, as it typical of the boats, you can often walk it faster than riding. And the layout can be a little confusing, but again, after a day or so, we knew our way around.

We've stayed at POFQ twice and will be staying at POR when we go back down in 2 weeks. We preferred POFQ because all the rooms have already been refurbed and they have queen size beds. We liked the smaller resort size of POFQ and would have booked there again, but they were already sold out.

I did a LOT of research on this for a client earlier this year. NOT all POR rooms will be getting Queen-sized beds. Apparently, they couldn't get the Queen beds to fly with the fire code in the Alligator Bayou rooms that have the trundle bed. Two queen-sized beds + trundle bed = not enough clear floor space for safe evacuation.

I see there is only 9 posts on this page.... I guess we will have to wait untill we get 5 more before we hear back from certain people :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

Hi everyone, new member here. Not sure at this point what all goes on here. But this thread has 51 pages in just over 2 weeks so what ever goes on here must be good. LOL

My name is Bill, age 52. Married with 2 DS's. First went to Disneyland at the age of 8. All I can remember of the trip was It's A Small World, thus that attraction is still my all time favorite. Been to WDW 6 times now, with my next visit coming up in January, a solo visit as none of the family could go. Have loved anything Disney my entire life. I truly believe that WDW is the greatest place on earth. Probably on the low end of wage earners here in the club thus the reason for the few trips. But Disney is always part of my every day life. Hope to make some new friends here. Thanks for letting me join.

Uh oh! Looks like I've been slacking here. Sorry I missed your original post, Bill!! Welcome to our little club! You are member # 672! :thumbsup2

:welcome: WELCOME TO THE DIS DAD'S CLUB! :welcome:

You have been added to the DIS Dad's Club list :thumbsup2

We are overdue for one! But I worry that with the low census around here (with vacations, etc) it might not be that well attended. I say do it, but let's plan for a Superbowl one as well!

Someone needs to kick start this thing :lmao:

Good morning dads!!!
Hope everyone had a good Christmas, and may your New Yr be a good one also.Hope the FB crew got their Christmas greetings from Santa.Lets ALL hope that baby new year doesnt decide to stop by to wish us a happy new yr.:rotfl2:LOL
I would just like to say sorry that my cards got out late. They were on my to do list and got knocked to the bottom of the list.

Don't worry about. That was a great castle pic on your card.

Whoever had the card exchange idea deserves a big :thumbsup2. It was neat to read the cards from other dads.

It looks like AB and the Royal themed rooms in the Mansions are the last to be updated. Only about a 1/4 of the AB rooms have been updated. Do you know if its just the trundle rooms in AB that are keeping double beds? I thought I remember reading that it was actually hard to get a trundle room in AB because it's one of the few moderate rooms that sleeps 5. If only those rooms are keeping doubles it seems like unless you specifically requested one of those rooms you'd be much more likely to wind up with a room with queen beds in it.

I'm up for either (the photo blitz here or on facebook, not shower pictures.)

Been a crazy last couple of months (no trips planned to WDW yet). Not sure if I will be able to get back on before mid Jan. Wanted to wish all the Dads and their familys a great new year.

Nice to see ya, Mark! Happy New Year to you and yours! :cool1:

Thank you all for your thoughts. You have made my decision so much easier.:rolleyes2:rolleyes2

We are going with 2 other families and I am trying to make a educated, logical decision for all families (not that I have the final word, but they trust me- no idea why?)

If you check the resort board, there's usually a thread on comparing the two...
There is a resort board here? :confused3 :lmao::lmao:

Yep. I like FQ more but just by a little bit. FQ is smaller and easier to get to anywhere you want to in the resort. I also like the theming there more. Bus service is quicker because you only have one stop. It does on occasions run to POR but that has only happened to me a couple of times. That was a while ago.

POR is a much larger resort with multiple bus stops. I prefer the mansion’s sections. It has a sit-down restaurant, better pool and the rooms are bigger. And Yeeha Bob performs in the lounge (Love Bob). Not sure you want to bring the little one but he gets younger kids involved and Juliana might like it. Landscaping can not be beat. It is beautiful with lots of nice areas to stroll around. Buggy rides are available but I have never done that.

Chances are you will have a refurbished room with Queen beds in both resorts.

Edited to add a couple of Pics of FQ room

Thanks for the pics.... The rooms look really nice and different from the pics I have seen. The PORFQ pics I saw of the rooms were VERY busy... kinda gaudy IMO. DW saw those pics too and said there was no way she would stay in that room. Does each section of PORFQ have different themed rooms?

Thanks for the info! Looks like I'm going to need to do a little more research... :surfweb:

I expect a full resort report when you get back! :lmao:

We aren't looking to go till the end of next year so all the rooms at POR should be refurbed by then.

We first stayed at POFQ back when it was the only “Port Orleans” (POR was originally named “Dixie Landings”. It is our favorite spot at WDW, but POR is just as good. I think you’ve seen enough to make a decision (so I’m probably repeating what’s already been said, but I’ll sum up the differences we’ve encountered…

FQ is smaller and easier to navigate; none of the rooms are vey far from the main building, pool, or restaurant. It also “seems” a little quieter and calmer (but the difference is relatively minor). It is closer to DTD (via boat), has only one bus stop and buses come here first (so your more likely to get a seat) and often don’t then head over to POR (and when you coming back to the resort from any of the parks, the bus will always stop at POFQ first as well). Lastly, all rooms have queen beds.

POR is absolutely gorgeous and a bit better themed. The pool is better (and there are additional quiet pools nearer to some of the rooms), there are more playground areas and you can rent boats, bikes, and surreys (the folks at FQ can as well, but they have to take the boat up to POR first to do so). Most of the rooms should have queen beds by now (but we ended up in double beds in Dec 2010). It is much bigger, so depending in where you are assigned the trek to the main buildings and amenities can be a bit of a hike (it’s a beautiful walk, but a good bit longer). Being much larger, there are four bus stops and depending on where your room is, the busses may well be nearly full once they arrive.
Thanks for your review!

How long of a walk is it from POR to PORFQ? Is it a pain to head from one to the other to swim or see BOB or get beignets? :confused3
