I just saw a movie on this - THE CONSPIRATOR - Very well done.

I highly recommend it.

When I saw Andrew's post about Mary Surrat I was going to suggest this movie to him...we watched it a few months ago and I liked it. Makes you look at things a whole lot different!

Reading your comment made me go back and read a little more info on her. The Surratt house which has been turned into a museum was the family farm that she wound up losing after her husband passed away. She moved to downtown DC and that's when she got involved with JWB. Growing up near Surrattsville Highschool and passing the Surratt house every day on the way to school I just assumed that that house was the one that was involved in Lincoln's assassination.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. The DC Boarding house is where the plot was born. I am not sure but I think Booth headed to the farm after the assassination. Weapons for the conspirators where stashed there (Again, not positive). That is the area where Mudd lived.

From Wikipedia the address is at 604 H Street NW. Here is a link with the picture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mary_E._Surratt_House.JPG It looks like it is still a Chinese restaurant. You can see the plaque just to the left of the door that identifies the house.

Interesting stuff nonetheless. Had to look it up to make sure myself after your post.

Tonight is date night...going to go see Americas Got Talent winner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr....have a good evening everyone~~~

Would love to hear what you think of the performance! I didn't think he'd pull off that win, but he's got the talent. Hope he stays humble.

Great movie :thumbsup2

Good morning guys :cool1:

Morning, guys! Don, he was raving about it on FB overnight.

I promise to behave today and not to try for ownage! Anyone else see the NYT article in this sunday's magazine talking about 4-5th century monks and distracted minds? Fascinating similarities to today's office worker!

I received a gift from my supervisor (a woman) last week and just got to opening it this morning. It turned out to be an "under cabinet" calendar that fits nicely in that tiny space under my cubical cabinet. Very simple, thoughtful gift. Mark would enjoy it... 12 months of bridges (no, not of Madison County). Then I open it... And the first month is March :confused3 Second month is April :sad2: Third month is March again :lmao: Apparently, whoever made this calendar decided that March, April, September, and October are VERY important months for 2012! :rotfl2:
Can't wait to show this to her when she gets back from vacation. :stitch2:

I would just like to say sorry that my cards got out late. They were on my to do list and got knocked to the bottom of the list.

Has anyone stayed at both POR & PORFQ??? I think we have narrowed down to these resorts. What did you think of each? What are the plusses/minuses of each? Any other info I should know?????? :confused3:confused3 :confused3:confused3

We first stayed at POFQ back when it was the only “Port Orleans” (POR was originally named “Dixie Landings”. It is our favorite spot at WDW, but POR is just as good. I think you’ve seen enough to make a decision (so I’m probably repeating what’s already been said, but I’ll sum up the differences we’ve encountered…

FQ is smaller and easier to navigate; none of the rooms are vey far from the main building, pool, or restaurant. It also “seems” a little quieter and calmer (but the difference is relatively minor). It is closer to DTD (via boat), has only one bus stop and buses come here first (so your more likely to get a seat) and often don’t then head over to POR (and when you coming back to the resort from any of the parks, the bus will always stop at POFQ first as well). Lastly, all rooms have queen beds.

POR is absolutely gorgeous and a bit better themed. The pool is better (and there are additional quiet pools nearer to some of the rooms), there are more playground areas and you can rent boats, bikes, and surreys (the folks at FQ can as well, but they have to take the boat up to POR first to do so). Most of the rooms should have queen beds by now (but we ended up in double beds in Dec 2010). It is much bigger, so depending in where you are assigned the trek to the main buildings and amenities can be a bit of a hike (it’s a beautiful walk, but a good bit longer). Being much larger, there are four bus stops and depending on where your room is, the busses may well be nearly full once they arrive.

No worries, Carl! :thumbsup2 The card is great! Oh... my DW has been noticing all the DIS Dads Christmas cards this year. She says "Gee, those DIS Dads cards are all fancy this year! Maybe we need to get fancy next year?" :lmao: I told her we'll need to go back down to WDW and get better pictures then... I got "the look" :rotfl2:

So being chained to a desk was just as boring fifteen hundred years ago as it is today. Stunning revelation. It’s why I check in here so often. Nutty as the rest of ya’ are… y’all help keep me sane (well… the sanity thing has long left my grasp, but y’all do make the day more survivable).

Very cool. I’ll have to go back and watch it more closely once I get home (I can't turn the sound on here).

What is everyone doing for New Years?

Every year we have a kid and dog friendly New Years Eve party. It is so that the Parents that want to go out and have a good time without drinking can..with thier kids. We set up a tv in one of the kids rooms and put the dvd and game system in there. Then the adults and thier dogs if the bring them have the rest of the house to play, talk and relax. This year we will have 2 big screens to play MW3 and anything else.
For food we have eaveryone stop by thier favorite restraunt and order the "Sampler Platter" and bring that. YUMMY
