DDA Chapter 9

Excuse me while I climb in my handbasket and begin my descent. :headache:

We agreed that DS needed to be ON his meds over the summer because he gets so surly without them. DH just picked him up from camp and he is in a big old snit because he didn't do well in camp today with hitting and catching. If he was on his meds it wouldn't bother him NEARLY this much. But DH does NOT comprehend that. He has a complete failure of understanding when it comes to keeping DS on meds when he doesn't have school. The pharmacist told me NOT to take him off cold turkey, but DH hasn't bothered to give him a Focalin in 6 days. Of course he is snarly and obnoxious! We learned that over Spring Break! GRRRR!

I realized last night that I never copied those forms to submit for proof of eligibility for the health insurance. :scared1: DH dug them out and told me the deadline has passed. :faint: He called the number on the forms to ask what we should do and the lady told him the deadline is AUGUST 22, not JUNE 22. OK, so that's one good thing!

I am starting to think I need to go home regardless of what's happening here because things are starting to rapidly unravel at home!

for your own sanity...in one ear..out the other. men don't always deal with stress in the best way...I am sure he's feeling a tad helpless in regards to trying to help you...and it comes across not in the best way

you could give him the "this is where rubber meets the road and he has to man up" speech....but I do try to save that one. It's the in case of emergency break glass talk :rotfl:

Well, DH lost his mom almost 17 years ago and I wasn't very sensitive. Of course I was a whopping 21 years old, so there was definitely a lack of maturity involved. But maybe he figures it is time for passive/aggressive payback. I do need to go home, but I need to make sure there is some sort of a game plan in place here. Which is difficult since I haven't heard anything from Mom or the doctor. They discharged her last time without the doctor even looking at her after the OR, so it sounds like maybe the doctor doesn't make daily rounds to see all of her hospitalized patients. No telling.

Guess I should get in the shower since I will need one no matter what.

Good morning, everyone! I'm baaaaack!!! Thanks for worrying about me (again!), and thanks, Vicki, for calling to check up on me!

I'm fine, just swamped! Katie and I got home at about 9:00 on the 10th, and were informed by Alan that we had to leave for my parent's house by 7:00 the next morning. Alan was hired to do a job for my dad that we thought would start on the 16th, but they moved it up to the afternoon of the 11th. So, I spent that first night home, doing a couple loads of laundry so Katie and I would have clean clothes, and then packing for all 6 of us, and getting everyone up to be on the road by 7:00.

The trip was amazing! We had a great time and saw wonderful things! I can't wait to share it all with you. Unfortunately, I'm still trying to catch up on all the house maintenance that didn't get done while I was gone. I spent yesterday doing 15 loads of laundry. Still have a couple to do today, and then I can tackle the kitchen! Luckily, Alan is understanding when he sees takeout on the table at dinnertime. I'm really hoping to find the sink today! Ick!!!!!

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know that I'm home and well. I'm uploading pictures, so I can share some experiences with y'all.

Meanwhile, I need a "catch up" please. I know that Jennifer had the babies and that all is well with them. That makes me so happy! Can someone tell me what else has been going on? Thanks.

Bernadette,
Beautiful creations!!!
Hope Lizzy os feeling better today.

Tammi,
Congrats to Nicholas. Sounds like he really loves the game! Enjoy the rest of your time off.

Elizabeth,

Sounds like you are being pulled in 2 right now.

It is good you are there for your mother & making sure the Dr's are keeping on top of things. Hopefully today will bring better news for her so you can go home.

Wouldn't you know, I had just got done putting the dye on my hair when the kerosene delivery came. It must be a guy thing to show up at the wrong possible time. So will have to mail the check, instead of giving it him today.

Jennifer - the bracelet is beautiful! We have a jeweler that sells Pandora up here and there is some great charms for those! You have the start of a wonderful collection!

Jennifer-beautiful bracelet:goodvibes

Jennifer -The bracelet is lovely!

Jennifer your bracelet is beautiful!

Thanks! I like it :) I don't think I'll add much more to it, if anything. I'm not a bulky charm bracelet kind of girl, but I did decide that it is SUPER cute for a daughter (or two). The booklet that came with it showed this adorable bracelet with a charm for each of several important milestones, birthdays, etc in the child's life. I love that!

Thank you for checking in. I can't wait to hear more about your trip!

Today is Katie's graduation. The ceremony was held this morning & now she has gone to their beach/pool party at a local private beach club:rolleyes2 :snooty:. We do not belong to this club so it is a real treat for her to go there. Although we had a "discussion"
1.gif
before she left regarding suncreen. She sees no reason for it, I of course disagree & I won in the end, covering her from head to toe in it.

She was given the President's Award for Exellence keeping an A average for 4th, 5th, & 6th grade. We are very proud of her...I just hope she keeps it up so she can get into a good college & hopefully win some scholarships. Just my college has gone from $8,000 a year when I went to $23,000 now. We have been saving for all 3 since they were born but the price just seems astronomical. I told Katie to take up the tuba:laughing: so she could get a scholarship for that as alot of kids don't play the tuba...:) (It worked for Patti Lupone)

I'm back from my appointment. Just a little change from last week; now I'm 4 cm. dialated, still 60% effaced. She offered to strip my membranes (sorry TMI, Tom!), but I said, "no thank you!" :)

I forgot another reason I wasn't ready to have Noah. I'm not ready to diet! :rotfl: For whatever reason, I'm not one of those people who loses all her pregnancy pounds while nursing, so I'm indulging a little bit more this week. :teeth:

hey there's nothing wrong with the tuba:headache: :rotfl: :rotfl: I fully expect it to pay for Abi's schooling!! (that and the fact she's as smart as a whip!!)

Congrats to Katie on her award!

Elizabeth - :grouphug: for both your Mom and you

welcome home Glynis

Thanks!

Actually Lizzy was up in the middle of the night vomiting. Poor kid. She feels OK this morning and was upset that we won't let her in the pool for swimming lessons this morning.

I hope she's continuing to feel better today!

She's in Chicago!! We are getting together tonight

Have fun!!!

Excuse me while I climb in my handbasket and begin my descent. :headache:

 I hope your day is improving somewhat, Elizabeth.

Good morning, everyone! I'm baaaaack!!! Thanks for worrying about me (again!), and thanks, Vicki, for calling to check up on me!

Hi Glynis! :wave2:

Wouldn't you know, I had just got done putting the dye on my hair when the kerosene delivery came. It must be a guy thing to show up at the wrong possible time. So will have to mail the check, instead of giving it him today.

Are you going blond, Heidi? If so, please post pictures. :teeth:

Congratulations to Katie!

And I hope you continue to win the sunblock war! I can send her a picture of all my brown spots and freckles, since I was too cool to listen to my mother. :rolleyes1

Jennifer what a nice gift.

When Leighanna was born, I got my wife a necklace with a charm on it of a heart with a mother holding her child. It came with note that said something like, "Although you didn't grow in my tummy, you grew in my heart." She still treasures that necklace.

Glynis, Welcome home! Can't wait to hear all about your trip.

Amy, glad to hear that Noah is still holding on. I don't even know what stripping the membranes means, (and I don't want to know either!)

I think my cooling off break is almost done. I have been working out in the yard, and I still have more to do. I also have to mow and trim yet. It is supposed to rain tomorrow, and I have to work extra this week to prepare for the 4th of July sales. So I need to get this off of my "to do" list today!

Have a great day all!

My BIL is a music teacher, and he is always saying that if you want a guaranteed scholarship have your kids learn the oboe, bassoon, tuba, or euphonium. Those are difficult instruments, and bands and orchestras always need them. Worked for his daughter. She can play the euphonium, tuba and bassoon, and got offered full ride scholarships to 3 universities!

Abi has the marching band euphonium/tuba kids begging her to ask the director if she can join them a year early (you can do it in 8th grade). Boosted her ego::yes:: It helps that she is moving into her 4th year playing.
