DDA Chapter 13

Ive really liked having these few hours off this afternoon, but i am completely dreading going back tonight for conferences..too bad its not friday :)

your first set of parent teacher conferences with your own classroom....how fun.

If it helps...most parents dread going to PTC conferences too!!;) :lmao:

So I think I have found Dawn's real sister. I always told her she must have been adopted. :rotfl:

Does that mean Ms. Selfish and Diva are actually YOURS?

I know we are all hating this political season but I thought I'd tell you all why I like it:

My girls are able to articulate why they like one candidate over another intelligently and have developed their own sense of what they believe politically. Cassidy moreso than Abi but she is also closer to being able to vote.

DS knows where he stands on the issues because DH and I have explained to him where we stand. Right now he agrees with us, even though his friends have parents on the opposite side so he has heard about both choices. Some issues are negotiable (or I don't have a strong opinion either way), but as far as the ones that aren't, I hope he continues to agree with us. He has to write a 2 page essay about why he is choosing the candidate (not just because his parents are) so that should be interesting to read. He needs to get busy assembling that election notebook. As soon as the stupid SMU brochure is done.

Since Jim and I vary so far politically it's very interesting to see where my kids fall. Cassidy is actually more liberal thinking than the liberalest of us 2. Abi is more an issues girl but she will more than likely fall more in the middle of her 2 parents. Though they both are rooting for the same candidate as their mom. We have always taught them to think about the person and not just vote party or male/female.

Tammi - I hope to hear that Nicholas is feeling much better soon

Anne Marie - Lot's of PD to you for your upcoming move. I grew up as a "military brat" so moving was the norm. I much preferred moving in the middle of the year, it was much easier to meet new friends that way.

Elizabeth - Sorry about the outcome of your conference today, hopefully DS will do just fine.

So, I thought of a question that might make for some interesting reading.

What was the strangest gift you've ever received?

I think mine would have to be the large jar of Greek Olives I received from my MIL.

Hi, Debbie! :) Do you like Greek olives?

I can't think of anything really weird I have received. An ex boss gave me a container of little glass Christmas ornaments, even though she knew I do my tree in Hallmark. The only thing I have been able to come up with is that sometimes people will fill a big bowl with ornaments and use it as a centerpiece and maybe she thought I might want to do that. :confused3

i can't think of any weird things DS has received, either.

my creative juices have just about dried up...this is all I could come up with...
I am not offended if you don't want to use it

So would one of our designers who is still designing care to tackle a request for me? I would like something to give to Bob and my dad for their Segway tour. Not quite an invitation, more like an announcement, that it's their Christmas present, something Segway-y and Christmas-y. Clear as mud, huh? The date of their tour is Dec. 3 at 7:45AM.

mushroom spores with mud mixed with cow pooh....I had never indicated a desire to grow mushrooms....

a guy I grew up with...he's like the mean brother I never wanted :rotfl2: I gave him an advanced sea monkey set....sad part is...I think he liked it.

for years a rubber chicken kept making the rounds

Who gave you such a thoughtful gift? And how did you reciprocate?

You definitely have me beat with this one. :rotfl: Actually I've never tried Greek olives, those sat on the sn\helf so long they got thrown out.

ohkay then!! That one is better than mine. Jim gave me a troll doll our first Christmas as husband and wife...that's it.

I HATE troll dolls (they scare the living daylights out of me)

Tammi I hope Nicholas is feeling better soon :wizard:

Anne Marie good luck with the potential buyers :wizard:

Debbie I cannot think of a strange gift I have ever received, guess I haven't lol

Jen I am sure you will do wonderful with the P/T conferences tonight!

Elizabeth sorry things did not go as you hoped with ds counselor today. Sounds like he is doing very well in school though!

Thanks for the ditto-able post Janet.

Debbie, my strangest gift would have to be post it notes, a wrist band tape dispenser and a wrapping paper cutter. From my in-laws for Hanukkah one year. I think FIL forgot and just picked up what ever he saw as he left work (he worked at CVS!)

I am headed up to get the girls bathed and ready for bed. And then I think I am headed to bed myself. I must have only held the cold off long enough to get through the trip. I have been shivering all day and getting that yucky feeling in my throat and head. Have a great night!!

I want my own closet.
Me too!:yay:

Thanks, that's good to hear.

Well it's not too strange but the only thing that comes close is a pop up book of Disneyworld (kids book) that Dana gave me one Christmas. He was buying me Walt Disney's bio & the book was right by the register & he thought it would be cute. I like it but my extended family thought it was a wierd gift.

Anne Marie good luck with the potential buyers :wizard:
Thank you!

As a gag Hal wrapped me a blue rock and gave me that first before he gave me a new vacuum cleaner!!!!!!

I hope I make it through the night....Christopher leaves tomorrow for a 3 day school trip...he is sooooooooo wound up:eek:

Robyn I hope with a good nights rest you feel better tomorrow :wizard:

Kristine I like the design you posted!
