I agree with you about the candidates. We aren't voting for the best man for the job, we are voting for who will do the least damage.

And Colin Powell brought up yet another facet to this election. The vice-president's job is to be president. Now, which of those two do you want taking over in an emergency???

Becky - Who knows what Mini Tim Burton will want to do when he actually gets out of high school. Right now he thinks he wants to do at least a semester at WDW, so we shall see.

After carefully reading through the choices I don't think I want to work for WDW after all. I bet I could build an absolutely kick-butt business doing in-room sitting. All word of mouth referrals, through the DIS, that sort of thing. Cash only, no WDW affiliation, work when I want to work, set my own rules as far as how many kids I will watch and what they are allowed to do while I am watching. I have read through the guidelines the sitting services have - they won't bathe kids and swimming is sitter's discretion, parks are also sitter's discretion but that wouldn't really be my target market. I will watch LITTLE kids and babies in their hotel room while the parents go to dinner and fireworks or something. Maybe. Or maybe not. We'll have to see how I feel about it in a few years.

I think that is a terrific idea for you. What would DH's dream job be in Florida?

I rarely talk politics, even at home, but Kevin will still voice his opinion around here. I believe his quote was, "Colin Powell's been drinking some crazy juice." The way he said it just struck my funny bone for some reason...must be my sleep deprivation.

Which reminds me...we got this piece of spam yesterday that advertised "sleep like a baby." Not my baby!

I think I could make a comfortable living doing in-room sitting. I would need to get some sort of bonding/insurance and keep my CPR certification current and I would be good to go.

I love crepes. I remember when I took French in 7th grade we had a cooking day and the teacher brought in an electric skillet and made us all crepes. Yummy!

There is a crepe place in the mall. My favorite has chicken, fresh spinach, tomatoes, cheese, raspberry jam and walnuts. But they are like $7 each so it is a treat instead of a habit.

Gary put some of the tile down on the counters & the walls in the kitchen last night. Today he grouted them, it is looking so nice

He has worked so hard on this remodeling & I am so proud of him

Once it is closer to be completed I will post more pictures.

I thought Powell was really interesting. I never paid much attention to him before, but I did listen to him with Tom Brokaw on Sunday. I used to think Tom Brokaw was really handsome, but all of sudden he seems really OLD.

I don't know what his dream job would be, but we know AKL has a chip man (we saw him in August).

I am not very pleased with the outcome of the 504 this morning. They have decided that DS does not show "significant educational impairment" so he no longer has a 504 on file. Perhaps we should send him to school without his meds and see how impaired he is? I told them his symptoms are controlled by the meds, but they said IF he stops taking meds we can revisit the 504. I also told them I am not comfortable NOT having a 504 because I need it to fall back on if I need to protest an assignment. That didn't work, either. They said I can go to the teacher and request a different assignment if I need to. The counselor kept pointing out that he is in pre-AP classes and his test scores are VERY high. I KNOW that! I just don't want him penalized for things that wold have been covered under his 504. We'll see how it goes.

Princess and I have cooking class this morning. At least I won't be submerged in water. Cooking is right up there with indoor pools as far as I am concerned.

Good morning all!

I will be so happy when the election season is over....I never thought I would be looking forward to the return of femine hygiene and viagra ads. The Republican PAC ads are ridiculous...so far there hasn't been any obvious Democratic ones but I am sure that will change.

One of our local tv news magazines has an exclusive interview with Sarah Palin to air on Sunday. From the couple of answers they showed last night I am going to watch it because she was giving straight answers. Probably won't change my vote one way or another but I like to hear from all of the candidates.

I've been watching an email campaign of my own between band parents for earlier rehearsal time on Thursday. The funniest part is that the director has said he was changing the rehearsal time to earlier.....like he had a choice. Our field is actually the whole districts and one of the other HS's soccer team has made it into playoffs as the host team...so they have to use the field at night.

We are back from the doctor. Nicholas has strep, so we stopped and got his meds then picked up Empire Strikes Back at the video store, along with a Wii game rental. He's into this Star Wars kick for some reason. Now I have to disinfect the house.

Elizabeth - Sorry the meeting with the couselor didn't go as well as you had hoped. that things work out.

I am sorry to hear that the meeting at DS's school didn't go well in your estimation. Hopefully you will have some good interaction with the teachers who are in the problem classes and be able to work around the lack of 504.
