Melinda, I see you found the thread!

I won't bother posting it over on our other thread then.

PS ?Does it not seem that DVC plan these events so that Families can't make it?

For my cruise on Sept.11, I am paying $1950 total for two rooms. DH and I will be in one and MIL and both boys will be next door. We will have a cat.11. It was cheaper to bring my MIL than it was to get a bigger room for just our family. I thought that was cool.:p

Just did the math. It's not going to happen for us. The one week difference is $1208. We will stick with the old plan.

yeah, after i got freaked when you post it on the other thread, i immediately went to investigate and came here!!! :hyper:
My DH wanted to go but we really couldn't since we wil be in CA 10 days before the cruise already!!! We would have been gone a month if we go on this cruise!! Yeah, they really pick some good timing don't they???!!!!

Ok, short of us not making it in (possible, but unlikely), I am calling the DIS meet. Same rules as last time. I'll go post something on the Meets baord later, after dinner and digging out the post from the last one.

Ohhh this is so sad. The Fedora family would just love to be able to attend this member cruise, but again the numbers don't work out for us. DVC cash rate for our family is $798.75 more than another 4-day cruise in Sept. Unless the DVC member cruise gift is ten more DVC points, the give-aways are not worth that much extra money to us.

Looks like we'll be sticking with our 7-day cruise plans for 2005. We rented out points to pay for our value season 7-day (418pts). It's turned out our 7-day cruise cost us 62 fewer points than DVC's 4-day (480pts).

Imagine that!!

We had decided the next member cruise we would be on but wouldn't you know, they scheduled it for the day after we return from our repo cruise. There's no way we can be gone longer than the 2 weeks. It sure would have been nice if they had chosen an different date.

We were on the last cruise. Would love to do this one but don't see it happening. DVC stated they didn't know how 4 or 5 non-members made it on the cruise, but they guaranteed they would be members by the end. There were so many that wanted to go that didn't make it last time, I myself would let them have the reservation before non-members as it is a members only cruise - If it is anything like last time, they will be sold out within a day. This is just my opinion as its not fair to the members wanting to go. Thanks.

Well, here's the thing - we made a reservation for this very cruise a few days after we got back from our first cruise a couple of weeks ago. Made it through Tim at the Cruising Co. I just went back to my paperwork and verified everything and yep, it's that cruise.

At the time I thought it was weird because I couldn't get that date to come up anywhere to check pricing before I made the reservation.

Sooooo - I'm confused as to why they let us make our reservation already. Now we ARE DVC members, but still - doesn't seem fair to the rest of you! Seems that perhaps DVC hadn't notified DCL yet - and that's maybe how non-DVC'ers got in last time?

Well, I'm just hoping and praying they don't take our ressie away, because we haven't got to do any DVC member stuff yet and I was SOOOOO excited when I read the Oct Member Clubhouse. And even better that it's going to Key West instead of Nassau!

Keeping my fingers crossed - I've emailed Tim to have him check it out... REALLY hoping to meet you all there!

Can you pay strickly cash??? or do you have to use some points???

Zurgswife - you can pay all cash. I noticed in the small print that cash reservations must be paid in full at the time of booking. I used points for the last Member Cruise, so I'm not sure if you had to pay in full when the reservation was made.

Still trying to decide if we will use points or cash for this one - leaning towards cash so I can save my points.

Not trying to complain, but does anyone else find the dates for this cruise a little annoying for families with kids in school?? When I saw Labor Day weekend we all got excited until we pulled out the calendar. Would have been really nice if they could have set sail on Friday or Saturday. We started school Aug. 3 this year; however, I have family and friends up north whose kids don't usually start back until the day after Labor day. Seems like a lot of DVC families are going to have to miss out on this one because their kids will be starting the first day of school that week, since Disney is family oriented would have thought they might have taken this into consideration. Anyways, good luck to everyone on Oct. 23!!!

Beth B - sorry to say but I think you might get bumped. I remember on the last cruise that someone who was booked on it got bumped. As others have said this cruise is a little more costly than a regular 4 day. I'd say that your best thing is to call DVC and see what they say.

Kim - you can pay all in cash, but the payment must be in full at time of booking. Not sure why but that is how it was on the last cruise and it appears that is how it will be on this one.

To Gail, Mary, Cheryl, Beth, and everyone else we sailed with on the first Member Cruise - I'm so excited to see you guys are coming. We will have a great party.

To Cindy - if you thought Homecoming was fun - wait until we take over the ship!

This is a possibility for us. We actually have reservations to go to Yellowstone during this time period, but no plane tickets yet.

It looks like we'll be forever in the borrowing points mode, we just added another "beginning of Oct. weekend" to our next years plans.

There were DVC members on the last cruise who were in your situation. They had booked the cruise before it was a DVC cruise. If I remember correctly....They got bumped. They had to call along with all the other members on the member cruise booking date. DCL did offer them a different date with upgrades on another cruise. If I were you I'd wait to hear from DCL. They might offer you a better vacation opportunity for your "inconvienience".

Good luck

I can't get on the member website, so can anyone fill me in one what the differences are between a standard cruise and a member-sonly cruise? We heard about all the great things that happened this past May when there was a member-only event at WDW, so I'm wondering if the cruise will be as great that. Anyone have any info about the plans for this cruise, or can you tell me about the last one?

We're considering this one, too. It would be our first member cruise! Thanks for all great information, too!

Does anyone know if it's the higher end or the lower end staterooms that tend to go first? I don't hold out much hope that I would be one of the first to get to MS that day.

Looking back at posts from that day it appears the cat 6 & cat 7 were the first to sell out. The fastest mover were the cat 6's mid-ship.

We did a cat 8 on that cruise based on the points we had available at that time.
