DCL Member Cruise

This is just what I've been waiting for...kind of.

We missed the previous member gatherings because we already had points reserved and airline tickets purchased. Kudos to DVC for notifying members about the next event and give them much more advance notice than previous events.

We had hoped for a cruise and really wanted to see Key West, so this is perfect...almost.

Anyone else concerned about sailing in September? Last month was a nightmare for WDW and DVC with all the hurricanes. And from what I've gathered from the news, they're forecasting heavy hurricane seasons for the next several years.

I can understand DVC's desire to get people to cruise in September. My only concern is, will they be as generous as reimbursing points for this cruise as they were for people who had to cancel trips to WDW and VB? DH and I don't have to worry about trying to schedule vacations around school vacations, and had said we would never plan a trip to Florida anytime from June thorugh the end of September. Now...we will certainly have to give it some thought. Anyone else concerned about the potential for cancellation due to hurricanes? I'm not trying to put a damper on things, maybe I just need some reassurance. This is what I've been waiting for -- just not the timing I was hoping for.

Mona - yes I will admit to being a tad nervous about sailing in September. The same time frame this year was not a good one.

I think, as with all things, that no matter what Disney does some people will love it and some will hate it. Only you can decide what is best for your family.

For us - we're in. We did the DVC Member Cruise in '03 and Member Homecoming in '04. Looking forward to this as well. If mother nature has other plans we'll face that then.

Heard a loud screech last night and it turned out to be DW yelling about next years BIRTHDAY PRESENT, you guessed it, it's her BD and that means a cruise on the WONDER instead of a trip to WDW. Had her BD stay this Sept. at WDW canceled because of FRANCES, hope nothing happens next year.

Started calling in at 9:00AM for first cruise and finally made it through at 1:15PM and that was with redial going full blast on 2 separate phones.

Going to have 4 phones going this time so maybe we will be lucky a little earlier this time.

Good luck to all on making it through.

John

I'm planning on joining in the fun once again - the last Member Cruise was such a blast and I met the nicest people that I cannot wait to call and make my reservation - sure hope it's a little easier than last time getting thru but I'll be ready!!!

Now I know why I didn't have anything planned for 2005 yet as far as ressies - must have been saving for this one!!!

I have not even asked Lynn yet but count us in, speed dial is all set fr 10/23.

We have already booked the four day cruise starting Sept. 11th. Now I have to think about changing. We were going to go to Disney first so the dates are not a problem but there is a price change.

How does the cash price compare between the two?

I'd love to go, but I won't use that many points for this cruise. I priced it out via my TA (what she would normally charge for this cruise if it wasn't a charter cruise) and DVC's cash prices are nearly $800 more than what she would have charged me for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant in a category 6. Makes the DVC freebies not look so free. :(

Disney Vacation Club Members are taking over the ship again! It's all part of "The Happiest Celebration on Earth," our year-long salute to the 50th anniversary of Disneyland® Park, with events that span the globe. We're thrilled to announce that our magical community will have their very own celebration aboard the Disney Wonder®! Scheduled over Labor Day Weekend 2005 (September 4-8), we've designed an exclusive itinerary with scheduled visits to Key West, Florida and Castaway Cay, plus magical surprises created especially for Members.

Since I can't go , all I can do is be a stick-in-the-mud and point out that Sept 4-8, 2005 is not "scheduled over Labor Day Weekend"; it's a traditional Sun-Thu 4-day cruise. (No surprise there.) If it had REALLY been over Labor Day weekend (e.g. Thu-Mon), I might have been able to go!

We are already booked for the Sept. 18, 2005, 4 day Wonder Cruise . We are a family of 5 booked in a Cat. 3 Suite, the Member cruise would cost us about $2000 more for the same Category. Wow, that is a bit steep and almost another cruise. We will pass on this one.:D

Some day they ae going to have one of these that I can go on! This is the first week of school so I have to be there teh 6th and 7th. Oh well, maybe next time!

We'll be there. We've been wanting to do a cruise -- it will be our first.

How exciting. :Pinkbounc

Same here. Ds will have to start school on the 7th. He loved our Disney Cruise so much, there's no way dh and I could get away cruising without him. :(

Man I'm bummed:( My kids will start back to school during this time. Wish they could have planned this during the summer break.

Oo OOO I want to go! 10/23 marked on the calendar.:Pinkbounc

Oh wow, this is tough. I already have two DCL cruises booked for next year.

Who am I kidding, I wanna go!!!! Let me see what DH thinks of keeping our Member events streak going.

Do any of you (previous DVC member cruises) know if we can book a stateroom for a friend/family member? (If not members of course). Just curious. Thanks.

Another member cruise. YAY!!!!!!

I've just got to figure out how this works using my 2005 points.

I was hoping to do the F&WF next year, but if we do this, then that is out. Decisions Decisions! Well at least we have a couple of weeks to think about it.

Oh boy what timing!!
I will be just getting off the Repo cruise on Sept 3 from CA being on for 2 weeks!! I would love to go on the DVC cruise....but i don't think it is going to work since i really have to fly home on Sept 3rd....for school purpose for my kids!!!
