DW - Nette
DD- Alexis a.k.a. "The Monkey" 14mo (her second trip already)
DMIL- Gette

Woke at 4:30 to the sound of the alarm clock going off, I've really got to talk to my travel agent about these early morning flights, oh yeah... thats me. Nette and I get up and shower, she goes to get Alex up and ready while I rush to the kitchen to start the coffee and fix breakfast. Out the door at 5:30 and on the road to Gette's house, pick her up and head to the airport, we're there by 6:15. Check in at the counter grab our tickets, through security to the gate where they are announcing boarding, talk about timing. On the plane settling into our first class seats, thanks Mom, where I promptly knock my wifes glass of water off the tray onto her lap. On a side note I did the exact same thing on our honeymoon trip to WDW except that was a hot cup of coffee. DW gets dried off, we take off and Alex falls asleep, land in Atlanta, terminal hop, take off again and Alex falls asleep again (Bonus) land in Orlando, get the baggage, get the rental car and on the road to AKL, after one missed exit and 30 min trying to turn around we finally arrive, bell services grabs our bags and we walk in the door. We've never stayed at AKL before but have seen it on the Travel Channel. As soon as we walk in my DW and I look at each other and say "It looked bigger on TV" we discover that its a good thing that it wasn't any bigger. We check in and find that we've been upgraded from a standard view to a savanah view.:bounce: We then begin the first of many treks to our room, we later joked that if the room was any farther from the lobby we would actually be in Africa, we end up in rm 3376, 2 rooms from the end of the long hall. Everyone is hungry so we decide to head to Epcot for dinner at the Biergarten.
Every trip we've taken we talked about getting a pedometer to find out how far we walk during a day so this trip we carried out our threats and bought one, so you will see our daily pace reports from now on. We take the bus to Epcot unpack the stroller strap the monkey in and head for dinner, somewhere around Mexico she falls asleep again, I didn't know sleeping could be so tiring. We get our table where I have to perform a delicate balancing act of having a 20lb sleeping child on my lap while trying to eat. Total cost for dinner around $120, only $60 for food, the rest was beer and wine, the Oktoberfest Beer was excellent. :)
We then decide to take the monorail to MK for the one time we will be able to see Spectromagic and the Fireworks. Alexis is now awake and we think with the amount of naps she's had she'll make it through.
Now we've made it through the gates of MK down Main Street and find a decent spot to watch the parade in front of the castle, only 30 min till Spectromagic when the monkey decides she's had enough of Strollers, Crowds, MK, and WDW in general, we decide to head back to the room, we simply don't want to be one of those parents who's kid has a scream fest in public, so we pack up, head down Main Street for the exit, on our way out the exit we pass a prime example of what we don't want to be, a two year old wearing only a diaper screaming her head off, being pushed by two arguing parents. As we pass them the kid reaches out and slaps Alex  . DMIL withers the parents with one of her stares and we continue back to the room.

Total Paces Walked 9,316 = 4.5 miles

Wow what a day!

I'm really interesting in seeing how far you walk. I'm betting that we do more miles than we think when we are down there.

about kids.......parents pushing them till the poor kids are pooped.....you did good to retreat.....had to a few times with our grandson......thanks so much.......

Your reports are going to make me laugh, I see. I think everyone thinks the same thing about AKL until they have to walk those long hallways. They sort of remind me of the movie "The Shining" as they seem to expand as your walking down them. Hey 4.5 miles is good for a first day. I haven't read day 2 yeat, but I am almost willing to be that it will be a 6 mile day.

Wonderful trip report ~ Thanx for sharing.
