Daughter turns 3 four weeks before trip

If you can't afford to buy the appropriate ticket and meals, then you can't afford to go to Disney. Period. Work overtime, save up longer, tell the family sorry can't do it, whatever. If you are willing to lie to save $300 then I am guessing that any thought of a savings account, emergency fund, etd don't exist, therefore, you can't afford it. And sacrificing morals is not a way to pay.

Oh more assumptions! I am actually saving to build a house so my spending money is tighter than normal.

Due to everyone's input here I will be buying the appropriate ticket, again thank you to all you gave valuable advice.

Shades of Green is actually on Disney property. I'm not sure what kind of discount you have received, but it is possible you could find cheaper accommodations off site. If you need to save money to make the trip work. Cheating and stealing is NOT the way to make a trip affordable.

In a nutshell:

Can you do this? Yes
Is it against the rules/illegal? YES
DO people do it? Yes
Do they get caught? Sometimes
Are people going to tell me how they did it (if they did)? NO
Are children's lives ruined by the mom lying about their age? Not usually

My friend adopted her youngest from China. The girl is of very small stature. My friend used to stick the girl in the stroller, give her a sippy cup, and put a blankie over her lap… up until the daughter was 6. :worried: Never stopped by a CM, although you could tell by the raised eyebrows and shaking heads that they knew. When the child was 7, she asked her mom to pleeeeeease buy her a ticket. The kid had more morals than the mom.

There's a thread over on the community board about topics that start "fights" on the DIS. I think I'll mosey over and add "lying about kids' ages" to the list if it's not here already!

I wouldn't have posted that question on these boards but I would have done what ever I needed to do. What that is, no one here would know cause I wouldn't of asked a bunch of strangers their opinions on this

We were there a 3 months ago and we were never asked, that's why it didn't seem like we would have any issues

They don't need to ask. You know how old she is and you purchase admission accordingly. If they happen to ask, then answering honestly won't be an issue.

I will not give any judgement on this. All I will say is, when we took our boys who are 3 and 4 in April, my youngest was 3 and 4 months and he was never asked once. Neither was my 4 year old actually but I have little guys- they were only 38 and 41 inches tall at the time.

We had a double stroller and they sat in it at the entrance and would stand up in them to scan their bands. Even if their bands didn't scan right away I think the CMs just assumed they were 2 and my kids were just scanning them to be included since everyone else was.

Again, not recommending or condoning, just giving my own experience.

If she turns 3 before the trip then she is 3 as far as Disney is concerned. I know the DIS does not encourage lying about a child's age to save a bit of cash, so the thread is probably going to be short-lived. Some CMs have learned to ask the child how old they are, since 3 year olds are usually very proud to be 3 and don't lie unless they are coached to do so.

Just so you know, you can have your child evaluated fora speech delay now, if you so desire. Our daughter started speech therapy right before she turned two and was serviced by Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) through MHMR. At three, they graduate to the public school system where they head up to the elementary school for an hour a week (or however long is determined necessary vie the IEP) and receive services that way. You don't have to wait if you don't wish to and, as is the case with most things, early detection and treatment is often best. Good luck.:goodvibes

Talk t your pediatrician, there is a wonderful birth to 3 program that offers a lot of early intervention services. Best of luck!!!!

Oh yes, I remember when my nephew was a little guy. His speech was really difficult to understand, so I get your "version of English". LOL! WE called Timmy's "TImmish." He never used a consonant :confused3. :confused3Speech therapy started early, and his speech was the least of the changes that took place. He used to get so frustrated when we could not understand what he was saying, and the Dr explained that he knew the issue was his pronunciation, so he acted out occasionally. I cried when he actually called me Auntie Nancy. He used to call me "ACIE.

This thread is a bit out of control. Hopefully it gets closed soon. People making assumptions about OP not having savings etc, a little low in my opinion guys. Yes if the child is over 3, a ticket is required and should be purchased if so. Do people lie about this and get away with it? Yup! But to each their own. OP said with helpful advice from this thread that they will now be purchasing a ticket so I think we can all be a little less aggressive and let this be now.

Ok I know plenty of people do not agree with this and will say it's wrong but my daughter turns 3 four weeks before our Disney vacation. I am guessing it is easy enough to say she is 2, correct?

That's because plenty of people here have a quality of character that would not allow them to be dishonest. If you feel OK with skirting the rules, so be it, but I certainly am not going to reassure you or provide any information that might encourage your insinuated plan to cheat the system.

One of my DD's is 3 and when asked how old she is she either doesn't respond or utters something in whatever version of English she speaks. We understand her maybe half the time strangers almost never. Yep speech therapy coming in my future soon. So not every child excitedly shouts THREE.

I am a speech-language pathologist and the best advice I can give is call the Special Education Department of your local school district and request an evaluation of your child. Specifically ask for a speech-language evaluation and a hearing screening. If hearing issues are suspected, follow-up with your pediatrician and then an otolaryngologist. Your 3 year-old will qualify for speech therapy now and your local school district will provide the services.

I'm glad you have decided to go this route. You will avoid a lot of stress and be a good example to your family. Have a great time.

We took my twins two weeks before they turned three. CMs would sometimes ask DH and me and sometimes they would lean down to the stroller and ask the twins. They would usually hold up two fingers. CMs were always kind.
Be prepared, they do ask - repeatedly.

so you KNOW that what you want to do is not only immoral but is also against stated policy and yet you want what? validation?

way to be a role model by advocating lying about your child's age. I suppose that the reverse is also okay with you? that she will get a fake ID listing her age as 21 when she is 17 so she can go out to clubs and get drunk?

Also consider having her hearing tested. I was once a child who could not speak well and it was because I could not hear well enough to produce good speech. I spoke the way I heard... but all that was remedied with speech therapy and hearing aids.

Oh I LOVE this answer ! Perfect come back While we're at it I will be 60 in Sept but I REALLY want to stop working, I can collect Social Security at 62 How can I get around this ;) and get it now ? I mean it's just a " rule " right ? Shouldn't apply to special ME

Kids are who they are...honest babes who when asked will fess up to their age...This coupled with airline regulations, knowing date of births...I would go with honesty is the best policy even if its more expensive.

Not only is it lying but it's stealing. A child of 3 is required to have a ticket. Lying to get a 3 year old in to receive the benefits of a ticketed person is theft of services isn't it?

I think you should update your first post so people will stop replying.
