Daughter turns 3 four weeks before trip

I must be the only person here who has a three year old who when asked her age smiles and hides behind me.

In case the morality police wants to know, she's getting her own ticket/MB in September.

Morality police? Really?

What the OP was suggesting in his first post is illegal. Look up theft of services and fraud..

. . . my daughter turns 3 four weeks before our Disney vacation. I am guessing it is easy enough to say she is 2, correct? . . .

1) Not sure.
2) But, doesn't this come under the category(ies) of
. . . lying
. . . cheating
. . . stealing
. . . conniving
. . . scheming
3) Not judging, just asking.

:cool1:

Yup.

One of those 'rules don't apply if I don't get caught' types. Excellent role model.

I guess being judgmental and mean makes a person a good role model as long as they don't lie? It always amazes me how one can profess to have high "morals", yet have such a negative disposition.

Stating the truth about right and wrong behavior or lawful and unlawful behavior, is not being mean or judgmental. or even being negative. It's merely stating the truth. You don't have to be a perfect person or have "high morals" to be able to state the truth. The worst criminals know that stealing is wrong, and unlawful.

The question asked was basically this: "Is it okay to cheat the system, (which constitutes theft or fraud) if you are unlikely to get caught?

The truthful answer is NO, it is NOT. Doing so anyway, even if there is almost no chance of getting caught, is in fact being a bad role model. It sets a bad example and send a message that it is OK to steal. If one doesn't want to hear that answer, they shouldn't be asking the question on a public forum.

This thread is a bit out of control. Hopefully it gets closed soon. People making assumptions about OP not having savings etc, a little low in my opinion guys. Yes if the child is over 3, a ticket is required and should be purchased if so. Do people lie about this and get away with it? Yup! But to each their own. OP said with helpful advice from this thread that they will now be purchasing a ticket so I think we can all be a little less aggressive and let this be now.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Well stated. There is no need to be vicious.

I think assuming the OP had no savings was trying to find a reason for the bad behavior, it made it a bit better instead of just saying the OP was cheap and looking for a way to cheat to save a few bucks. It is even worse if they can easily afford the ticket and are still trying to steal from WDW.

If you don't want people to judge your morals, don't post a question asking them to.

LOL - being judgmental about a person actively admitting/desiring to skirting the rules? I'll wear that hat. Sometimes the truth is mean. Tough luck.

I'm not a fan of people needing rules actively enforced to follow them or do the right thing. A huge part of being a good role model is doing the right thing, whether people are looking or not. If that makes my disposition negative, alrighty then :rotfl: Everyone is judgmental/makes judgements based on the information they have.

I think the OP got her answer a while ago.
I had a business when I was younger that required bonding because my employees would be in peoples homes...
There were interesting statistics I learned.
A reasonable percentage of people will never steal under any circumstances.
A small percentage of people will steal no matter what - whether the chances of getting caught are big or not.
A small percentage of people will steal form anyone if they feel sure they won't get caught (from family, friends, anyone)
A surprisingly large percentage of people will steal if they think it's "victimless" and they won't get caught. This category includes stealing things from Walmart or lying about ages at Disney. Of course - it's not victimless, but we are not going to change the percentages... it's just the way society is.
I don't agree with lying about your kids age, but I also wouldn't consider someone evil for doing it. I'd just keep my stuff where I can see it when they're around.

We had two options for our trip:

1. Go after my daughter turns 3, in the latter half of August. Crowds would be lower, but we would have to pay for daughter,

2. Go in early August and arrive before daughter turns 3. Crowds a bit higher, but daughter is free.

We went with option 2, as we are there long enough to use 30 Fast Pass+ and thus somewhat mitigate the crowds/waits.

:)

I don't think you're going to get a lot of support for lying about your daughter's age in order to get her in for free.

Exactly this - and I'm sure you already knew the responses you would get to this question so why even ask? If you wish to try then try at your own risk.

The OP quite obviously is telling everyone that they plan on lying and breaking the rules to get their child in for free. You can sugar coat it and throw pixie dust all over it all you want - it is lying and it is wrong - small or big lie - doesn't matter.

You're skirting the DISboards rules about being judgmental, so you and the OP are in the same boat. Me too, for that matter.

What are you talking about? Did I say it was a small lie? Did I say it wasn't wrong? So, please quote the "pixie dust" and "sugar coated" words that I used.

There's no DISboard rule about being judgmental. How do you make a rule about that?

"you may not form an opinion about a poster based off their posts. Because reasons."

http://www.wdwinfo.com/guidelines.htm

And if you really think that breaking the 'sarcasm' guideline (which I'll assume is what you meant?) and trying to find a way around payment policies is anywhere in the same boat you're out of your mind. One is up for interpretation. The other is not. I'm not trying to skirt anything - my post is completely out in the open for MODS to judge.

Besides the morality I would be so embarassed if my daughter said she was 3 and I was trying to get her in for free.

I've seen it happen at Sesame Place and it was super awkward and I didn't even know the people.

I was raised to know that I am no better than anyone else, even if they commit a more serious offense than I did. But, that's just me. Im pretty sure that you break a rule, but of course it wouldn't compare to asking about lying.

The best role models are those that can admit when they're wrong and change, which is what the OP did.

Plenty of kids do that.

Plenty of kids are unpredictable. Would you like to bet the cost of a ticket that your child will always do that forever and ever? Or is it possible she'd be so excited at the parks that she might change behavior?

It's also very age-appropriate for a 2 year old to say he is 9 or 16 or 42. Kids are funny. :)

By the time you wrote this the OP had edited her post to say that the child would be getting a ticket, and she did that yesterday. Her original post did say that, but now doesn't.

Pretty sure, or sure? Because a post ago there was apparently a rule about being judgmental.

Anyone who thinks the OP is going to spend $300+ because of a group of internet posters is naive.
