D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

Liesa, another great list! :goodvibes

Hi Kat!! I love my music- but need more!

Good evening, Liesa! ;) Right after I posted here saw your FB post - this is not good news. :sad2: I am so sorry, but hope and pray time will provide healing.

Oh no!!! That's too bad!

Selfishly hope it is open by December as it is the one place I really want to eat on our list!!

no, it's not, we'l have to see what happens in the long run!

It IS sucky!! Now, I need suggestions on where to eat- other than Pizzafari, which is already on my list for AK Day 2. Hmmmm.....

Ooh....I love Flame Tree. We've not been the last two years and I was upset that it is closed the day we will be there (actually that is the last day it is supposed to be closed, it reopens on September 20...and for those wondering it closes on August 9).

Your "barbecued beef" sandwich looks heavenly, Liesa. I'm on my way up to our cafeteria for breakfast and now I want one of those and I know they don't have them. :rotfl2:

Me TOO!! NOt only for the num-nums, but for the most beautiful setting on property to eat! Right down there by the water. :cloud9:

BBQ'd beef for breakfast?? YOU BETCHA!!!!

Great music list. On the weekends when I don't have class and Marc is off to his part time job, I hop on the computer with Disney music playing...it's my favorite time of the week. :cloud9:

Your beef/pork looks so yummy!!!

Thanks, Leslie!! My 8 year old had 3rds, so I guess that says something.

Morning Liessa !!! Or middle of the night:lmao: How long is FTB closed for ??:confused3 I hope it is open in October !!!:worship:

It is closed August 9 - September 19. :)

Thanks, Kathy! Wouldn't you know it, opens just days after my trip. :sad2:

Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you get it looked at?

The cheater version of this.

1-2 pork loins tossed in a crock pot. 1 cup of salsa, 1 cup of BBQ sauce. on low for 8 hours, high for 4-5.

Also works great with chicken breast. I'll go in about half way through to start breaking up the meat and then back again a little later.

We use Pace Medium chunky style and Sweet Baby Rays.

I like this version too!! Easy is my game! Thanks, Cynthia!

No, it's not an infection, but rather nerve damage, I fear. The area at the base of my thumb kills to flex backwards, and the whole hand is very sensitive to sudden touch. I really, REALLY hope in this case, time will heal it!
Sounds like it needs a lot of rest. Of course, how in the world are you supposed to rest your hand while packing and getting ready for your big trip coming up....:confused3

Of course, time at Disney can cure a lot of things. Maybe a quick check-in with :smickey: as soon as you arrive. Until then, sending some pixiedust: to help ease your pain!

Mmmmmm, mmmm!! Flame Tree BBQ!!
Oh yes, also one of our faves! :thumbsup2

fresh off the field honeydew melon, which are just coming into season!! BEST MELONS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!! I digress....
That's saying something if you can beat the honeydew, or any fruit for that matter, at WDW! Always a priority during my meals when we're there.

Here's ours served on fresh bread cooked over a dung fire. Really. ;)
:scared1: Looks like some really good bread, but one of my favorite things is smelling bread in the oven. Not so sure if I would get the same effect from that one.......

I know! It's like serious bad mojo- first MNSSHP, then IaSW, and now THIS! :scared1: oh yeah, and One Man's Dream too. :headache:
They're getting everything all spruced up for my trip in December! Sorry the timing affects your trip though. :rolleyes1

Very interesting recipe, thanks for posting it! The bread looks very much like the turkish bread that is sold here. :goodvibes

What a shame that FTB will be closed during your trip! I wonder wether the refurbishment will bring a menu update? Recently it seemed that CS restaurants got more varied menus after refurbishments, but FTB is already very special...

LOVE homemade bread, not so sure about that dung fire though. hmmm.... I'll have to try and make some chicken sandwiches like that. But first I need to learn how to make gluten free bread for my little man. I've got the yummy pizza down. :-)

Again, great play list.:)

Good morning Liesa!!

Just got back yesterday from a last minute trip to visit my sister in Boston and catch the fireworks. We had a great time.

Great water slide photos. I love water slides!! My son and I went to Blizzard Beach on our trip 4 years ago and had a great time. I'm often guilty of sunglasses in the water as well!

The hike pic - too funny! Men caught in action!!

Sorry to hear your son got 2 tick bites. My son has been bitten by ticks at least 3 or 4 times - once in the scalp. Had to take him to the hospital for that one. I was too scared to take it out myself! If you get it off within 24 hours they say it is pretty safe. My son's father had lyme disease - had to be on antibiotics for 6 months. He is fine now, but didn't not feel good for those six months!

What a border experience!! Although it seemed like you had quite the "characters" surrounding you to keep you amused for... at least an hour or two! :lmao: It sounds like your husband had a really rough wait - exhaust, disgrutled drivers, and random urinating!!!! :scared1:

Tomato Soup River! :thumbsup2

The pictures of your puppies are so adorable!! I wish I could adopt one! I'm sorry to hear that 2 have died.

Great job with the music lists! such a great idea!

That is just horrifying. I'm pretty sure that if that ever happened at my house when DH is not home, I would have to run out of the room screaming, shut the door, and possibly even leave the house. What a brave woman you are, I probably wouldn't be able to think clearly enough to get a vacuum.

Thanks - I had no choice - I had to go in there and take care of business!!:rotfl:

Hi Maroo,

I'm glad to hear you finally have a diagnosis. I was diagnosed with IBS when I was around 27 years old. I am much better now and rarely have issues - so hang in there and it should get better!

I have/had IBS (which is how I know how the barium tastes, bleh!) lol.

At any rate, a lot of it is stress related and foods definitely trigger it.

If you can start keeping a food journal it will really help a ton as you can then isolate your triggers.

For me IBS was actually one of the best things that ever happened to me as it actually forced me to learn how to better manage my stress. I changed my eating habits to avoid my triggers and have found, over the last decade, that I don't need to avoid them like I used to as I manage the stress so much better. Too much of any of them and I will get some symptoms but too much of anything is bad anyways!

I hope you can get to the triggers soon and am thrilled that the medication helped so quickly.

You are so right! It does force you to figure out how to keep your stress under control. I know a lot of people who could pin down food triggers, but mine seemed to hit me without rhyme or reason. You are much better as well?

Morning All!! I'm ready to roll this morning, if anyone is still up :)

Hang on, replies and some fun coming up on 2 minutes...

That is a big bummer! :sad2:

Big time!

Yummy! Your BBQ looks so good. I think I could eat BBQ everyday.

Me too!!

THE GOOD NEWS IS:

To fill our BBQ hankerins' we STILL have Hoop de Doo!! Of which I am over-the-moon excited for. So silly. So fun!

Sounds like it needs a lot of rest. Of course, how in the world are you supposed to rest your hand while packing and getting ready for your big trip coming up....:confused3

If it is NOT better by the time I hit the States, you KNOW I'll be seeing a neurologist or a ??? hmmm... not sure who to go to on this one. When my son was almost 2 he had his thumb slammed in a door, and it came clean off at the top knuckle. I suppose the doc who reattached it (mostly) who specialized in hands might be a good option. :confused3

Meantime:

I have a request for you all:

Yesterday, one of our good friends' (who live in a city north of us) 4 year daughter fell from a table and gave herself a compound double fracture of her forearm. They are fighting with the insurance company on the medivac, as the local hospital has admitted that they cannot fix it here. Could you please pray for little Elizabeth?? She is in A LOT OF PAIN, as the only that they can get (no one will give her anything better/stronger) is ibuprofen! :scared1:

Thanks! I know broken arms happen all the time, and normally it's no big deal, but when it happens here, it is complicated and well, downright dangerous; they are very fearful of bone infection at this point. Around here, and I do not exaggerate.. they would amputate at the FIRST sign of infection.

Oh yes, also one of our faves! :thumbsup2

Mine too. So sad. BUT I may try Y & Y which wouldn't be all bad. Any comments anyone??

That's saying something if you can beat the honeydew, or any fruit for that matter, at WDW! Always a priority during my meals when we're there.

I need to get a picture of the semi trucks lined up along the road stuffed full of them where they are sold. It's amazing!

:scared1: Looks like some really good bread, but one of my favorite things is smelling bread in the oven. Not so sure if I would get the same effect from that one.......

I've never noticed the smell from the bread cooking part of the bazaar. I think they used VERY dried stuff with not much odor at all. It is HEAVENLY fresh out of the oven.

They're getting everything all spruced up for my trip in December! Sorry the timing affects your trip though. :rolleyes1

I had really hoped that AT LEAST the fall decs. would have been up, but I'm really thinking that is not going to happen for our trip. Ah well. Need to keep that perspective of, "I'll be happy with whatever I get" - it's a trip to WDW. :goodvibes

I think you need a good orthopedic physician.

Praying... It's so horrible to hear about little ones in pain. Can't believe they resort to amputation with a bone infection - horror!

Morning, Magdelene! So it will be the Nederlands and either your team or Spain, right?? We didn't watch the game (too late for us) but I did read about it this AM.

When we were in Turkey a few years ago, the ladies were making the breads at the roadside cafes everywhere. But they were more like pita- flatter that what we get here. Then of course, there's the guys that walk around selling the round sesame seed covered things on their heads. I have a pic somewhere, and will try to find it later.

I am sad it will not be an option to sit down by the lagoon and rest -HOWEVER, depending on how hot it is, I am actually starting to get kind of excited about trying Y&Y this time. I looked at the menu last night and can easily see myself getting a dim sum platter for 2 (for just me!) and a dessert. Remember I don't eat breakfast so much, so by 12 or 1, I'll be STARVING!! This could be a good thing... :confused3

Chicken is even easier because it doesn't take quite as much cooking to get it shredded up. I've heard gluten free bread can be tricky. Good luck!!!

Good morning Liesa!!

Just got back yesterday from a last minute trip to visit my sister in Boston and catch the fireworks. We had a great time.

So glad you had a fun time! You must have driven- how close it that to you?? Is it near DC per chance?? Hmmm.... what'd you decide on the Meet??

Great water slide photos. I love water slides!! My son and I went to Blizzard Beach on our trip 4 years ago and had a great time. I'm often guilty of sunglasses in the water as well!

Well, it was either wear them or not see where I was going. Yes, all you smart aleks.. I DO know I was going "down", but I wanted to have a view on my ride. Besides without them, there was no "cool factor".:lmao:

The hike pic - too funny! Men caught in action!!

Boys will be boys.

Sorry to hear your son got 2 tick bites. My son has been bitten by ticks at least 3 or 4 times - once in the scalp. Had to take him to the hospital for that one. He is fine now, but didn't not feel good for those six months!

6 months!!?? I had heard that people suffer with this for YEARS!!! We got it out within a couple hours, so hopefully, it won't even be an issue!! <insert crossed fingers>.

What a border experience!! Although it seemed like you had quite the "characters" surrounding you to keep you amused for... at least an hour or two! :lmao: It sounds like your husband had a really rough wait - exhaust, disgrutled drivers, and random urinating!!!! :scared1:

Crazy lady was the most amusing. Well... so was "brewery lady". We had nicknames going for all of them.

The pictures of your puppies are so adorable!! I wish I could adopt one! I'm sorry to hear that 2 have died.

It'd be a long trek for them, I'm afraid! Plus, US Customs requires a boatload of shots and documents- I doubt we could get all the paperwork and stuff together from our city.

Great job with the music lists! such a great idea!

My favorite is coming up on my EPCOT day.

Thanks - I had no choice - I had to go in there and take care of business!!:rotfl:

You do what you gotta do.

Praying... It's so horrible to hear about little ones in pain. Can't believe they resort to amputation with a bone infection - horror!

yeah, an ortho guy/gal might be a good idea. Wasn't sure where to go on that.

Thanks for thinking of our friend. I'll let you know later today what they end up doing and where they go. I think it'll be Turkey.

So glad you had a fun time! You must have driven- how close it that to you?? Is it near DC per chance?? Hmmm.... what'd you decide on the Meet??

Boston is about 3 hours away from me. DC is approximately 7 hours. I definitely want/plan to come - I'm just trying to figure out who I can get to come with me - I love to drive but I don't know if I want to do 7 hours by myself.

6 months!!?? I had heard that people suffer with this for YEARS!!! We got it out within a couple hours, so hopefully, it won't even be an issue!! <insert crossed fingers>.

Well - you're right - I guess he was actually sick for longer than that - he had to go to a specialist downstate in order to get a diagnosis. But once he was finished with the 6 month course of antibiotics he felt better. He has some short term memory loss which he blames on Lyme - I wish i had an excuse! :lmao:

You do what you gotta do.

Amen Sister!!

Amen Sister!!

Hmmmm....someone to come with you on the Meet? I have no idea where you actually are---- family nearby?? Your son can't come, or will he be in class already?? A good friend who needs to be Disney indoctrinated some?? Let's keep thinking!! I really would LOVE to meet you!!

I'm in Albany - upstate New York. My son might be in class already. I'm going to try to coerce my sister into doing a mini road trip - the only snag will be whether she can get the time off from work. I would love to meet you as well - I'll come up with something! :scratchin
