D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

First of all, I am praying for Elizabeth!

Did she make it to Istanbul? What a nightmare!

I know! It's like serious bad mojo- first MNSSHP, then IaSW, and now THIS! :scared1: oh yeah, and One Man's Dream too. :headache:

Good grief!!!!

Hi Maroo,

I'm glad to hear you finally have a diagnosis. I was diagnosed with IBS when I was around 27 years old. I am much better now and rarely have issues - so hang in there and it should get better!

You are so right! It does force you to figure out how to keep your stress under control. I know a lot of people who could pin down food triggers, but mine seemed to hit me without rhyme or reason. You are much better as well?

Yeah! I am working on the stress issue for now and just taking the medicine they gave me when it really is hurting.

I had a bad "attack" yesterday, but it has been doing much better today.

I spent the entire morning convincing an insurance company that a pt needs immediate surgery. They can be such a pain sometimes!

One of the ladies in my office said something a bit stronger....that they are acting more like a**es. I finally talked to a doctor at the insurance company and his name was.....

Dr. Butts!!

It made me laugh so hard! And Dr Butts finally saw the light!

Sending along prayers for safe travels and healing for your friends little girl...

So you like, uh, laughed your (Dr.)Butts off??? :lmao:

Sorry, you tossed it up there, I just HAD to hit it!!! :rolleyes1

I was just about to post exactly the same thing - somtimes it is scary how much we think alike! :scared1:

Liesa, I understand what you mean about it not fitting in really. You could at least get "Rule Britannia" which for me is the quintessential British song since I once saw it on TV during the last night of the proms. Besides that: Something by Händel like the firework music - this was composed during his time working for the English king. Or possibly some Gilbert & Sullivan? Oh, and something from the Mary Poppins soundtrack!!

I am looking forward to finding out about your selection for Germany! ;)

Sisters can be like that! I am with one of mine, the other, I just don't get. They are twins, so how odd is that?!

I'll look for that one, Rule Britannia. Gotcha. And I ADORE the idea of something from Mary Poppins! Super pick there. I love that song, Feed the Birds!

Sorry I didn't see the earlier post so I could help with the prayers for the situation. It sounds like things are progressing, so that is good!:woohoo: Will send up prayers for safe travels, successful surgery, and quick and complete healing! :goodvibes

Sounds like, ironically, they are on the first flight they COULD have been on anyway- even with the insurance delay!! And even so, they have an overnight spell in The Big City. Poor little thing. I talked with Belinda (the mom) today, and she says they casted the upper part of her arm too tightly before knowing she has a fracture there, and that it had swollen, making her more uncomfy. :headache:

Oh, can't wait to hear the responses to this, and hear all about if you go. This is one of my potential ADRs for our DEC trip. Trying to decide if I should cancel this one or the one at BOMA, which we love. Never tried Y&Y and we are trying to do as many new places as possible.

Nothing yet.... HELLLLLOOOOO Yak and Yeti diners!! What'd ya think?? What'd ya get?? Was it good??

And it's always good. Besides, you can never do it all anyway, which just means another trip to be planned!

So true, Marv!

Yeah, we've been invited to a WC Championship Game party on Sunday. DS13 plays club soccer and a lot of the group are planning to get together and watch. The people who invited us said we have to pull for Netherlands though if we go. Personally, I quit caring a whole lot once USA got bounced again, but DS13 watches every game he can.

I just wish it were on at a decent hour for me to watch!

Okay, enough with the bread talk and pictures! I have a weakness for bread, especially fresh baked, and I haven't had breakfast yet!!!

Sorry. But hey, it coulda been the 'Ohana bread....:rolleyes1

Well, that is really good news....in an odd way! Hopefully time is all it will take.

I thought so too. Time is so much easier than surgery, or PERMANENCY!! (I'm certain that is spelled terribly wrong!) :scared1:

I hate when that happens!!! I'm just glad us guys don't have any rips, or it might be something else we grab while hiking.....or watching TV.......or.......

Hips, rips, zips... what a difference a letter can make...:rotfl2: I was going to "BAD" the other night instead of "BED" I guess. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

First of all, I will be praying for Elizabeth. Poor kiddo. :confused3

Secondly, you must use Beatles music for the UK. I have a great story about that, but it's part of a trip report, so PM me. ;)

Thanks, TK. I'm sure this will be something she'll remember for a long time!

Hmmm..... THIS I must hear!

Well, it is "Rippe" in German - so an easy mistake to make... :confused3:goodvibes

And I just looked my typo up and realized its amusement value... I better go back and edit it. :scared1:

Awesome! One more word that might come in handy in a few weeks. BY the WAY!!!! We finally sat down and planned out our Nuremberg itinerary. I want, no NEED your feedback, and will PM or call you in the AM.

Thanks for the amusement. :rotfl2: You know how much we all LOVE it around here.
I have a CD at home by the Voices of Liberty but they are called something else outside of Disney but it's the same group....make sense? I'll look tonight, their stuff is AMAZING. :cloud9:

I MUST hear about this! MUST, I tell you!!! PLease the name! I barely missed them on my last trip and am determined NOT to do that again!

Prayers for your friends daughter. But I'm glad to read that some progress has already been made to get her proper treatment.

Now I forget what else I wanted to post on while getting caught up.

I didn't notice what music was playing in U.K. at Epcot, but I was pleasantly surprised at all of the Beatles stuff that was in one of the shops. (I'm a big fan. I've seen Sir Paul in concert 3 times.) You haven't gotten to your AK music yet, but I was surprised to notice that in the Anandapur section of Asia they play a sitar-only version of the Beatles' "Within You, Without You".

They're in the Big City right now, as far as I know... at least there is a good clinic there if she needs something in the night before their morning flight.

I like the Beatles too, and have seen Sir Paul as well, but only once. I have the entire Beatles collection somewhere in my garage in Portland (where our stuff has been stored for the last 10 years! :scared1:) I wonder if there's a way to digitize cassette tapes. THere's even some rare German tracks that they did in the collection!! I can't wait to dig it out!

I did do my AK, you can find it HERE

I have heard taht you cannot get most of the BGM because Disney has leased it from the original artists and it would violate their terms of lease if it were to be sold... Blah, blah, blah. Whatever. There's a craving public!

First I am praying for little Elizabeth.

I love all your music. I am excited to hear about all the Beatle stuff in England. I :lovestruc the Beatles. TK I am excited to hear your story when you get to that part of your tr.

Thanks for your thoughts for her! Such a hard thing for a little 4 year old!

I've never been to excited about seeing the knock off band, because, well, frankly, I like MoRockin' WAYYYYYYYYYYyy better! Even if I dont' speak Arabic. :lmao:

First, I am praying for little Elizabeth...how awful.

Great choice of songs again. Can't help on the UK. I guess someone's suggestion of a Beatles song is good (although...here come the flames...I am not a Beatles fan and probably couldn't name five of their songs :scared1:).

Thanks, Kathy, I know they do appreciate it!

No flames comin' from here, (see below)

no Off-Kilter???

praying for Elizabeth

My turn for the flames... I really don't care for Off Kilter so much. WE stopped and watched almost their entire set last time, and it was so loud, we could not even understand what they were saying. I do like their one version of Amazing Grace, but the rest I can live without. :confused3

First of all, I am praying for Elizabeth!

It made me laugh so hard! And Dr Butts finally saw the light!

Thanks for lifting Elizabeth up! As far as I understand, she'll be on her way to Istanbul in about 7 hours. Not like in the States or Europe where the ER is a 10 minute drive away. I'll be glad to be back!

:lmao::lmao::lmao: That was worth staying up late for!! :rotfl2:

Sending along prayers for safe travels and healing for your friends little girl...

THanks so much, Kim!! I just wish she had some better pain relief until she gets there!

So you like, uh, laughed your (Dr.)Butts off??? :lmao:

Sorry, you tossed it up there, I just HAD to hit it!!! :rolleyes1

Great minds and all that.... :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

Poor little Elizabeth! I hope she is able to get the medical care she needs in Turkey!

OH, I have GOT to tell you something I did, speaking of idiotic!! I can't even BELIEVE how stupid I was!! Remember the whole train ticket fiasco?? and using my maiden name?? Well, that same credit card I used to purchase the tix, was accidently sent with Andrew as an emergency card in case they got stuck somewhere!!!!! I had to pay my mom $100 for her to DHL it back to us! :scared1::scared1::scared1: but I look at it this way... If we had to pay the 15 Euro penalty to re-book times, 10 tickets, we've already "saved" by having it sent back. UGH!! What a giant doofus I was!

:headache: Totally sounds like something I would do. On one of our last trips to WDW, I drove through an ATM at the bank before we left to get some cash. Then pulled away, and when I got home realized I had left my debit card in the ATM! :headache: I called the bank as soon as I got home and was reassured that if the card is not removed in so many seconds, the machine sucks it back in and shreds it. So luckily nobody else found my card or used it, but it was still a pain to be without it on vacation.

Mine too. So sad. BUT I may try Y & Y which wouldn't be all bad. Any comments anyone??

So sad about Flame Tree, I think that is my favorite CS in WDW. As for Y&Y - are we talking CS or TS? We had CS on our last trip and thought it was just ok. We love Asian food, and it just wasn't what we are used to. But I think I would still eat there again rather than another "typical" CS meal of burger, chicken, fries, etc.

Oops. I did see that post because I remember the Poly and POR stuff, but I must have missed the AK stuff. I guess I should have posted my "Within You, Without You" info. in response to that post.

Sometimes the ease of technolgy makes it more difficult too. If that makes sense. Carrying cash sure was easy.

I didn't know that about the machine sucking it back in; that's actually great to know!

I was actually thinking TS. I might need some A/C and a real table for an hour at AK in early Sept. ANd the menu sounds pretty good.

No problem. I totally know you're skimming. :rolleyes1

Well, I am at work. Shhhh.

By the way, I just looked in on my TR and saw Marvin quoting you....I honestly thought I had clicked on the wrong TR!!! I'll have to reply to those later! Holy moly!

Yeah, I was just about to tell you to run back to your TR and put out the flames over there. SEriously, if hucifer's going down the scarf lane, there's stuff to follow... :rolleyes1

That's horrible!

Maybe we should get glennbo to ask. He would have ten pages of responses by now....

Sorry. But hey, it coulda been the 'Ohana bread....:rolleyes1
Oh you just HAD to go there, didn't ya???

Hips, rips, zips... what a difference a letter can make...:rotfl2: I was going to "BAD" the other night instead of "BED" I guess. :lmao::lmao::lmao:
I saw that, but I was afraid to correct you in case it was one of those code words spouses are famous for. I just smiled for your hubby's good fortune! (Another man thing)

Thanks for the amusement. :rotfl2: You know how much we all LOVE it around here.
It is such a rare commodity....

I know... he's the go-to man for stuff like this!

Yeah. And I won't mention the pretzel bread at Le Cel either.

:lmao: I thought of a few remarks on that too, but refrained myself. However, I did not on Glenn's playground. :scared: THat was about man stuff too. ;)

NOt on this thread! We have over 550 pages of amusement.

I'm sorry, what's the Yak and Yeti thing? You know I've got my hands full today. And then there's work.

I actually knew you didn't like them, hence the comment! You wouldn't survive at my house, Tay is lucky we actually like alternative rock! He wants to hear a full set off Off Kilter while we are there and we will happily oblige.

Feed the Birds! I LOVE that song

Wow Liesa, your list keeps getting bigger and bigger. I'll have to get started now to get something like that done for our March trip, :lmao:

So sorry about your friends kid. Prayers heading their way. That is so scary.

Hey, Liesa
I still have a LOT to catch up on, but thought I'd comment on the music, first.
I love listening to Disney music! When I can't sleep, I'm trying to go another mile on the bike, etc. My favorite is Soarin'!
Wow, I thought I had a lot. I love the idea of getting something from each part of the park.
Aww, poor Elizabeth! Praying for her!
We ate at Yak and Yeti for Thanksgiving in '08 and loved it. You can't get anything bad here. Our food was amazing and the food at other tables looked great, too. Next trip we're going to try the CS. I'm pretty sure this is true, but don't quote me. I heard somewhere that a lot of things at the CS you can get as a snack credit! (eggrolls, fried rice, etc) That way you can save a CS credit if you eat here and use some snack credits.
I'm sorry to hear about all the refurbs! I'm bummed about IASW, too. It's uaually our first ride of the trip. Now, the Haunted Mansion will be our first.

Just catching up!!! I ate at Y & Y once it was Okay I thought the staek was overcooked and the rice was not to good but the Friwd wonton dessert was YUMMY!!! I fyou like I'll repeat thos 10 times so you feel like it is Glens thread !!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'm sorry, what's the Yak and Yeti thing? You know I've got my hands full today. And then there's work.

I was asking about people's experiences at Yak and Yeti since Flame Tree is NOT an option for my trip! Have you eaten there? Did you like it? What'd ya get, etc.... ??

yeah, work. stinks, don't it?

I couldn't remember if I had mentioned that or not. I guess my issue was the volume- combined with bagpipe, which I can only take so much of anyway.

I'm going to finish it up today with the rest of EPCOT's WS. It's been so fun to build it up, but I haven't added to it in several months- ever since Amazon cut me off.

You're back, Barbara! I like Soarin' too, but I think I like the Fountain of Nations song better.

IaSW wasn't a deal breaker for me, but MNSSHP sure came close to being one. I was really, really bummed on that one.

So , another good review on Y&Y! Good to hear you enjoyed it. The lettuce wraps look yummy, but so does that dim sum basket!

I won't be getting steak, so I'm good there. Not much of a steaky sort of gal. ;) I like the theming I see here, and that's as much as, or more of the experience for me.

I didn't go back to far but saw a question about Y&Y. I've had the honey chicken 2 times and it was good both times. Mel had the shrimp lo mein and liked it a lot and I also had the pork egg rolls that were good too. I think it gives flame tree a run for its money. :) Although I still love that pulled pork sandwich. :goodvibes

Isn't 2:00 AM kinda late for you?? You're starting to pull stunts like me! So, did Mel go to FL? I guess I should go to your thread and check. Congrats on your new niece/playmate for Jul!!

This sounds like the CS side- I was thinking of a TS meal here. I'm sure they have a lot of the same stuff, though, and CERTAIN they use the same kitchen, so if the CS is good, I can be pretty sure the TS will be too. :)

Although, maroo had the honey chicken and WILL NEVER go back it was that bad. So, that's why I want it for my solo day. ;)
