D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

My birdie clock just tweeted that it's 1AM - I'd better get to sleep or I'll be dragging myself to work in the morning! I was just going to say good night - but I forgot it's Good Morning to you!!

Good morning Liesa, I will pray for your friends daughter, I hope she will heal quickly and that she will be able to get all the medical care she needs.

I also hope that your hand will improve. At least you have the knowledge that you will soon be back somwhere where you have access to modern medicine.

Morning, Magdelene! So it will be the Nederlands and either your team or Spain, right?? We didn't watch the game (too late for us) but I did read about it this AM.

Yes, the Netherlands made it through to the final. Tonight is Germany's big night against Spain. And then the final is on Sunday. The last two world cups Germany made it through to the semi-final as well, in 2002 they then lost in the final against Brasil and in 2006 (in Germany!) they lost the semi-final against Italy but then won the game on the third place and were celebrated here as if they had become world champions. :goodvibes I guess, you can see, why everyone here is really hoping that they finally make it this time!! :cheer2:

When we were in Turkey a few years ago, the ladies were making the breads at the roadside cafes everywhere. But they were more like pita- flatter that what we get here. Then of course, there's the guys that walk around selling the round sesame seed covered things on their heads. I have a pic somewhere, and will try to find it later.

That's what they look like here in Germany:

I am sad it will not be an option to sit down by the lagoon and rest -HOWEVER, depending on how hot it is, I am actually starting to get kind of excited about trying Y&Y this time. I looked at the menu last night and can easily see myself getting a dim sum platter for 2 (for just me!) and a dessert. Remember I don't eat breakfast so much, so by 12 or 1, I'll be STARVING!! This could be a good thing... :confused3

Especially on a hot day a break in the air conditioning might be preferrable. You can still look wether the seating areas are closed as well and if they are open, just get a snack or a drink from a cart in the vicinity and take it down to the water and have a break! :goodvibes Your Y&Y plan sounds good, too! Due to the time difference, I usually have an early lunch since my body just claims that now is the time to be really hungry. And I have found that getting to the park for rope drop and then having a lunch break at 12 pm works great! :thumbsup2

Hi Kim, sorry to hear that you have trouble sleeping!

Ooh - now there's an idea... ROSIE...where are you? :rolleyes1

I'll go post something on her new thread...

My birdie clock just tweeted that it's 1AM - I'd better get to sleep or I'll be dragging myself to work in the morning! I was just going to say good night - but I forgot it's Good Morning to you!!

Oops, I kept you out too late. Have a great day at work, Tracy!

Uh-oh! More "stuff" huh, Kim? I"m so sorry to hear it; I'm not doing very well in this area either. My DH gets stomach issues, I just can't sleep when stress comes our way.

Puppies are doing ok, we've gone to supplemental feeds for the runt. I bought a nipple and we're sticking it on an emptied out vanilla bottle. Seems to be working ok. Their eyes are just opening now, so hopefully the squishing is done. :scared:

OK, really, I AM going to the tikiman site now, to check it out!!

NEVER be sorry for hijacking here- we like lots of banter to read. And keep up happy late at night. :goodvibes

Good afternoon- by now.

We just got word that Aetna (the insurance co.) has okayed her to be flown to Istanbul. They did find the second break, and the x-ray showed that although the bigger break is "aligned" it is not "set". So, I think their priorities are infection prevention, pain relief, and a proper setting. They are a little concerned that the second break higher up may be on a growth plate.

I also was chatting with a doctor friend of ours in the States this morning, and told him about my hand. He says that ligament and nerve damage both can take MONTHS to heal. That actually reassured me some, in an odd way.

Again, it will be on too late. We had thought about going to a cafe with a TV to watch it and have some good shashlik, but 11:30 is too late to START watching a soccer match. I'll have to wait til morning to find out whether Germany is celebrating or not. Let's hope it's a better outcome than in 2006!!!

Ours is very similar!! And ever so yummy!

True, I can always just do as you say... grab a snack and head on over for some rest and nice pictures. I totally agree, I"m thinking I'll get an ADR for 12:00 and go from there. Who knows, I may only be hungry for my CREAM CHEESE PRETZEL and an eggroll anyway. Although, you said your roll wasn't so nice.

That's good news on the evavuation. I hope they will be able to set everything right in Istanbul! :goodvibes

I once fell on some rocks and bruised my ribs. It was extremely painfull even though nothing was broken and it took 6 months until I did not notice it anymore at all.

Although, you said your roll wasn't so nice.

I am not sure wether it might have been an issue of it just not being very fresh, so you might be luckier. It was tasty!

Now I do feel better. I'm sure in time it will be all gone, and only a tiny little scar will remain. If even that. My wrinkles, I'm sure, will sort of hide even that, I think! :lmao:

Maybe the eggrolls are a hit and miss item. Hmmm.... Y&Y is sounding better and better all the time.

Fall in Troops! We have some more music to march to!

Today I wanted to share what I have for EPCOT's Future World and some of EPCOT's World Showcase! This has been the most fun to collect, actually. Some of it is the real deal, some is a best guess. I had thought of that, but somehow it doesn't seem to fit in with the other stuff. Maybe an instrumental of Strawberry fields?? :confused3

I was just about to post exactly the same thing - somtimes it is scary how much we think alike! :scared1:

Liesa, I understand what you mean about it not fitting in really. You could at least get "Rule Britannia" which for me is the quintessential British song since I once saw it on TV during the last night of the proms. Besides that: Something by Händel like the firework music - this was composed during his time working for the English king. Or possibly some Gilbert & Sullivan? Oh, and something from the Mary Poppins soundtrack!!

I am looking forward to finding out about your selection for Germany! ;)

I have a request for you all:

Yesterday, one of our good friends' (who live in a city north of us) 4 year daughter fell from a table and gave herself a compound double fracture of her forearm. They are fighting with the insurance company on the medivac, as the local hospital has admitted that they cannot fix it here. Could you please pray for little Elizabeth?? She is in A LOT OF PAIN, as the only that they can get (no one will give her anything better/stronger) is ibuprofen! :scared1:

Thanks! I know broken arms happen all the time, and normally it's no big deal, but when it happens here, it is complicated and well, downright dangerous; they are very fearful of bone infection at this point. Around here, and I do not exaggerate.. they would amputate at the FIRST sign of infection.

Sorry I didn't see the earlier post so I could help with the prayers for the situation. It sounds like things are progressing, so that is good!:woohoo: Will send up prayers for safe travels, successful surgery, and quick and complete healing! :goodvibes

Mine too. So sad. BUT I may try Y & Y which wouldn't be all bad. Any comments anyone??
Oh, can't wait to hear the responses to this, and hear all about if you go. This is one of my potential ADRs for our DEC trip. Trying to decide if I should cancel this one or the one at BOMA, which we love. Never tried Y&Y and we are trying to do as many new places as possible.

I had really hoped that AT LEAST the fall decs. would have been up, but I'm really thinking that is not going to happen for our trip. Ah well. Need to keep that perspective of, "I'll be happy with whatever I get" - it's a trip to WDW. :goodvibes
And it's always good. Besides, you can never do it all anyway, which just means another trip to be planned!

Yeah, we've been invited to a WC Championship Game party on Sunday. DS13 plays club soccer and a lot of the group are planning to get together and watch. The people who invited us said we have to pull for Netherlands though if we go. Personally, I quit caring a whole lot once USA got bounced again, but DS13 watches every game he can.

That's what they look like here in Germany:

Okay, enough with the bread talk and pictures! I have a weakness for bread, especially fresh baked, and I haven't had breakfast yet!!!

I also was chatting with a doctor friend of ours in the States this morning, and told him about my hand. He says that ligament and nerve damage both can take MONTHS to heal. That actually reassured me some, in an odd way.
Well, that is really good news....in an odd way! Hopefully time is all it will take.

I once fell on some rocks and bruised my rips. It was extremely painfull even though nothing was broken and it took 6 months until I did not notice it anymore at all.
I hate when that happens!!! I'm just glad us guys don't have any rips, or it might be something else we grab while hiking.....or watching TV.......or.......

First of all, I will be praying for Elizabeth. Poor kiddo. :confused3

Secondly, you must use Beatles music for the UK. I have a great story about that, but it's part of a trip report, so PM me. ;)

I hate when that happens!!! I'm just glad us guys don't have any rips, or it might be something else we grab while hiking.....or watching TV.......or.......

Well, it is "Rippe" in German - so an easy mistake to make... :confused3:goodvibes

And I just looked my typo up and realized its amusement value... I better go back and edit it. :scared1:

I have a CD at home by the Voices of Liberty but they are called something else outside of Disney but it's the same group....make sense? I'll look tonight, their stuff is AMAZING. :cloud9:

I was just about to post exactly the same thing - somtimes it is scary how much we think alike! :scared1:
Well, not the word I would have used...........

Well, it is "Rippe" in German - so an easy mistake to make... :confused3:goodvibes
Cool, I don't have to go just to glennbo's thread to get German lessons!!! :cool1:

And I just looked my typo up and realized its amusement value... I better go back and edit it. :scared1:
You caught that reference, huh? I think Jeff Foxworthy covered that subject when it comes to wives. I think it's a man thing! ;)

BTW, too late to edit....it has been recorded for posterity already. :rotfl2:

Prayers for your friends daughter. But I'm glad to read that some progress has already been made to get her proper treatment.

Now I forget what else I wanted to post on while getting caught up.

I didn't notice what music was playing in U.K. at Epcot, but I was pleasantly surprised at all of the Beatles stuff that was in one of the shops. (I'm a big fan. I've seen Sir Paul in concert 3 times.) You haven't gotten to your AK music yet, but I was surprised to notice that in the Anandapur section of Asia they play a sitar-only version of the Beatles' "Within You, Without You".

First I am praying for little Elizabeth.

I love all your music. I am excited to hear about all the Beatle stuff in England. I :lovestruc the Beatles. TK I am excited to hear your story when you get to that part of your tr.

First, I am praying for little Elizabeth...how awful.

Great choice of songs again. Can't help on the UK. I guess someone's suggestion of a Beatles song is good (although...here come the flames...I am not a Beatles fan and probably couldn't name five of their songs :scared1:).
