D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

I THINK I know this one and as I am sure I wont find the time to confirm it by reading in the PTR I'll just write it down:

WOw!! Amazing! I caught you online the same time as me!! And BINGO! Give that girl a point.

Have you heard from your sister since she left?? Did she arrive safely in London??

Does she go back to work after this break before she moves??

Posting from my phone while sitting on the terrace of a Pub with half a pint of ale. So, yes, I did arrive safely and had a great Day so far. Tomorrow morning I will go and See Buckingham Palace!

Sorry for spelling, phone wante me to Write in German.

WHAAAAA??? You're online while hiking the wilds of the English coast line?? Truly, this post shocked the pants off me. Not really. It's bedtime, and my jammies are on anyways.

Glad you arrived safely (assuming you made it) and you're enjoying a carefree start to your week!

ETA: I see you edited after I hit reply. Glad you're there, and WOW!! what a nice start to a vacay!! ENJOY!!

I am in London until Thursday ;) but I think the English countryside is a bit more civilsed than the Steppe!! ;)

What is something we Lady Soldiers are looking forward to doing in WS’s Japan, besides eating at Teppan Edo??
If Teppan Edo affects you the same way it did Zzub, I'd say clearing the pavilion with a raging number 4. Other than that, all I can think of is pearl picking.

Biscuit's back, as golden and flaky as ever!! Trust me... twice churned scallops, and I'll be doing some of my own Illumin-rumi-nations!

Without even looking this one up, I'm going to take a wild guess based on my terrible memory. Here's my answer:

Pick-a-pearl

By the way, Liesa. I've thought of a little something I'd love to get from you when you're in Germany. The item I speak of is, very simply, a postcard. A postcard that depicts one of the best things you experienced while you're in Germany. Then, you must explain it's significance in great detail when we meet in D.C. Good luck on thy quest! :thumbsup2

Liesa,
Again relying on my personal experience (and the fact that I still have the pics on my Skype profile) you are going to do the one thing that I always do in Japan...Pick A Pearl and turn it into some kind of jewelry most liking in silver :)

a point behind.... :rolleyes1 That'll teach me for taking a couple of days off the DIS! :)

I think the answer is:

pick a pearl? It is on my list in my head! :)

DC is about 4.5 hours from here and there are cheap buses that go directly there...and it is somewhere Joe and I have wanted to visit....! It is very, very tempting. I'll talk to him about it tonight!

Maroo - I'm sorry to hear you had to cancel the vacation for that family! But, I'm glad to hear it's not completely out of the question and is just a matter of timing. I'm certain you'll snag an awesome deal and the timing will line up!

Liesa - I so feel your packing woes. We only had about 1.5 weeks before we saw our stuff again that was ENOUGH, I can't fathom 3 weeks! BLAH!

Congratulations on registering for the 5k! Tonight is a run night for Joe and I, still on 90 seconds since this past week has been busy with visitors. What 5k did you register for?

Answer - Pick a Pearl - I look forward to seeing your ring, this is something I have wanted to do as well!

That is some really freaky grocery store telepathy going on there!! :scared1:

We discovered that we lived very near to each other in NC, but I don't think our years of living there overlapped (or if they did, it wasn't by much). That was about the only grocery store in the area, so it wasn't too much of a stretch!

Great Guess!

That will be a fun little project! I can easily do that, I like to talk, in great detail. :lmao:

I think the answer is:

I had a feeling at the beginning of the game that it might come down to those who make the most guesses. ;)

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You really should give it a try!!! 4.5 hours by bus is really very close! PLUS, if DC is a place you'd like to see- why not??
(See Glenn's smilie below)

I took a picture of our "pile" of stuff, and will post it later today. It's so very odd to go from 10 years of a full house of everything we needed to 14 boxes.

I totally forgot to mention which 5K I'm doing!! It is in Bowling Green through a nice sub-division called Olde Stone. The running club there is called the Road Runners, and the take care of the timing and race logistics.

QUESTION TO ALLWHO'VE RUN a RACE:

I"ve never done a race before, what can I expect when I arrive?? What is some race etiquette I need to be aware of?? Is this going to be sort of "easy to figure out"??

GREAT job on your runs!! Don't worry about how long each "week" takes you. I sometimes spent up to 3 weeks on one week due to life!

Phew! You guys had me pretty worried there!

This has got to be

Sho nuff is. ::yes::

I love the idea for the window! On the couple trip, we were in the triangle at the Dolphin and I had a black mickey head with the DIS written on it for all of the BW to see.:lmao:
It's a little past my bedtime (1:30!:scared1::scared1:) so I'll have to come back for the game tomorrow.:goodvibes

:rotfl2: That is a great smiley! It did kinda look like that tonight when I spoke to Joe...;) We didn't fully talk it out, but he did seem interested - it would be a quick trip, just a weekend sorta thing due to him not having any extra vacation days...and it's REALLY close to when we leave for WDW, but, it is not out of the question! :goodvibes I'll talk to him again tomorrow and we can price hotels, etc. to see if it will work out....I'll letcha know! Are you gonna be at the meet Glenn? My hubby would like another guy to chat with so he isn't just defaulted to "baby duty". :rolleyes1

When you mention "Bowling Green" I instantly think of the last stop in Manhattan on the 6 train. It's near Wall Street. Why it's called Bowling Green I have NO idea. It is near a park though...

I bet if I researched what the real Bowling Green was it would make more sense.

Oh wow! It DOES make sense. Who woulda thunk it? ;) It's actually the name of a park there, but not the park I mentioned above - it's more like a small area of pretty brickwork with a tree in it-a plaza, and the famous "Bull" statue. I had no idea that was called Bowling Green.

Okay, back on topic.

I REALLY want to come to the meet. I hope it works out!!! If we can find a decent hotel at a decent price + know we can get SOME touring done on Saturday it just might be a go!

14 boxes? That's IT?! Wow. We didn't do that well with downsizing! It is strange to see everything from your life packing away into boxes though...sometimes hard decisions on what stays/goes can be emotionally draining as well. I'm a "tosser", but Joe is a "keeper", so it took him a LOT longer, but he never ever has to say, "Whatever happened to (fill in the blank). Oh ya...I threw it away..."

Morning Liesa!

I'm heading to bed... just wanted to get my answer in b4 it was too late!

Answer::: You are going to pick a pearl! PICK A BIG ONE!!!!!!

HI Barbara! WOW! 1:30 IS late! Hope you get a good night's sleep!

That's funny you hung it in a place for all of BW to see! :lmao: Good idea!

come back tomorrow for the game- it tends to go a bit faster during the week. ;)

Glenn IS coming- I just got he and Judy's RSVP today! And I"m sorta thinking it's the other way around. I think Glennbo would be OVERLY thrilled to have another guy there, so he has a bit less 'splainin' to do to Judy. :rotfl2: Also, Rob (My_Pal_Pluto) is seriously thinking of coming, as well as The Capells. So, could be up to 4 guys?

Everyone coming is just making it a quick trip- overnight or less. I wish I could just invite you all to crash at my sister's house, but well, she doesn't know you, and that might be kinda weird.

I love doing research like this!! It's amazing what you can find out, if you take the time! However, having said that, I have not looked into why Bowling Green, KY is named that. I assume it's because of a park or such as well. I just know they have lots of horses and the Corvette Factory, which I'm pretty excited to visit this trip.

I REALLY want to come to the meet. I hope it works out!!! If we can find a decent hotel at a decent price + know we can get SOME touring done on Saturday it just might be a go!

I REALLY hope it works out too!! It's shaping up to be a really nice bunch of folks, whom most of which have hung out for a while now on the DIS. I have no doubt we'll have as much fun together in real life as we do online.

I think you could spend ALL day (and more) on the Mall. I LOVE the Smith (free!) and my favorite memorial is the new-ish Roosevelt one. If you want to go to the top of the Washington, you'll have to get there FIRST THING as it's a ticket thing now, and they are gone by like 10:00 AM.

14 is how many we're shipping ahead of us. Of course, we're also allowed the one per person on the plane as well, so in total 19 boxes (Rubbermaid Totes) and our carryons. The rest gets sold, tossed or given away. Period.

It's VERY emotionally draining, and is definitely causing a bit of friction in the household. If you think about it, could you remember us in that area. I'm sure you can read between the lines there. ;)
