D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

Almost exactly 1 month from now, there will be some GRAND fun going on! Won’t you join us?

For months now, I, and a bunch of other GREAT DISers, have been hyping up a DISMeet in the DC Area, and now, for those of you who need it….

Here’s your engraved invitation!

Your presence is cordially requested at:

The Daily Grill in Bethesda, Maryland
at 12:30 PM on SUNDAY, AUGUST 29th

There you will have the honor of buying your own lunch from the menu, enjoy the silly shenanigans of your DISPals, and otherwise make merry. We expect this palooza to last approximately 2 hours, give or take a bit, depending on how much we like each other in real life. In other words, it could go on for hours; I’ve never met a DISer I didn’t like. You can find all the details, including a map and the lunch menu at this link.

http://www.dailygrill.com/details.php?loid=17

Actually, it probably won’t go on for hours, since the next thing on our agenda is a quick Metro trip into DC Proper (?) to tour one of the sights. At least one of the attendees has never been to our fair (?) Capitol, so the choices are wide open. We could do this democratically, (huh… what an irony this is!) and take a vote on where we go/what we see. Still waiting for feedback on this.

After our sightseeing excursion, fully paid for by YOU, we’ll head back to Bethesda for further Hoopla. Join us, if you will for dinner at:

Mon Ami Gabi
at 7:30
You can find all the information you need at the following site.

http://www.monamigabi.com/bethesda/menus/dinner.html

There again, you will be treated a nice dinner, complements of yourself, lots of Disney Talk, and your very own PTR/TR material (who doesn’t love that?!), pictures included!

Families are most cordially welcome as well! Come one, Come ALL! Bring a friend, or co-worker- just come! Both restaurants have children's menus.

As of today, I have 8 confirmed guests, but there are still yet others who are seriously thinking of joining us. Here’s all I ask, by August 20th, please let us know if you can make it, and how many will be in your party. I’d like to call up the restaurants and make a reservation for us. Don’t want to be caught ADR-less, so to speak.

Be prepared for outrageous fun, and maybe even a game or two! See you there!

Good morning!

I can see I have a lot of catching up to do, but so far I am really enjoying your TR. Hopefully I will have some free time at work today. Shhhhhhhh! ;)

OK, now I"ve had all my hedgehog puzzles fully answered, and will wonder no more! But if my husband had tried to woo me with fingernails on the chalkboard, he wouldn't have had much luck "calming" me! :lmao:

THanks, Dani!! Great job at explaining all of that. :thumbsup2

The words to America's "Muskrat Love" come to mind...

"And they whirled and they twirled and they tangoed
Singin' and jingin' the jango
Floatin' like the heavens above
It looks like muskrat love"

I wouldn't have been able to quote ONE word of that song- not. even. one.

Oh yuck. Lower intestinal "things" are NOT fun. I hope it's over quickly for you!

Thanks! Usually when things heat up, and stress strikes the household, Mike is the one who gets intestinal stuff. This time, I"m pretty sure it was food. Odd, I almost NEVER get sick when everyone else in the house does. :confused3

Liessa will ya please make the next CLUE easier:lmao::lmao:

How about Who is Liessa gonna meet in DC with an accent ?????:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Yes, for you, Rosie, I'll make it easier!

But, I'm afraid that one would be TOOOOOOOOOOOOO easy!

Sorry about the intestinal thing, hope you're feeling better soon!

As for the latest question, I'm pretty sure I know the answers without looking back, so I'm going to take a guess:

Thanks, feeling a lot better today, just tired some from not sleeping as well.

GREAT guess! Got it in!

Liesa, somehow I missed that you weren't feeling well and had an "intestinal" thing. I hope you are feeling much better soon.

ANd you too, Kathy!! Did those antibiotics work?? I think I set the world's record for Immodium intake over the last couple days.

Good morning!

I can see I have a lot of catching up to do, but so far I am really enjoying your TR. Hopefully I will have some free time at work today. Shhhhhhhh! ;)

Hey Mary Ellen!! I haven't welcomed you yet, (not quite to your first post yet ;)) but assuredly you're VERY welcome here!!! Great you could join up in the ranks of this Batallion!!

Psssst..... (as opposed to pfffftt) I won't tell a soul.

I wish I could come to DC to meet everyone. We have offices all over DC, Maryland and VA. Too bad I don't have an excuse to visit one of them!

You just HAD to go there...... :rotfl2:

Yes, I did.

That's nice to know. Can't wait to try them........both!:thumbsup2

Me either! I really hope the other ladies order sumthin' different!

That must have been Hanniford. I never asked for help in that place.

Men never do. Anywhere. Well, once. Glenn did, here.

:worship: Wow, I only had to deal with 9 boy scouts for 4 days!

I've never dealt with Scouts, and you guys are scaring me!!

Now that I think about it, I"m not sure what'd be worse, Boy or GIRL Scouts. :confused3

Okay, I just make it back home and have to take an exam already! This one is gonna take some quick work....time is running short!

Get out your slide rule- they may not get any easier!

New York Cittteeee???

Maybe my favorite ad; that or the Pilsbourghy Dough Boy ads.

Sorry you aren't feeling well, but YES, I have a little more time to catch up and don't miss any of your questions! I would never hear the end of it if Glenn took the lead ahead of me in the contest.....:)

I've attracted some seriously competitive people here!! I love it!

Here are a couple pics of both meals & the pancakes for you to drool over till you get to try them all! :)

STOP IT!!! The drool is wrecking my shirt.

You are amazing! You're absolutely right -- the Hanniford at Monkey Junction!

That is some really freaky grocery store telepathy going on there!! :scared1:

Hi Liesa,

I hope you're feeling better this morning.

I'm so happy to hear your Dad's surgery went well.

I hope Elizabeth is doing ok...

Hey Tracy!! Good Morning!

I did wake up feeling much better, THANKS!

I need to call tonight before they fly out to say hi.

Dad is doing well, but often, too often lets the pain get the best of him. He's like me and much too reluctantly takes anything for it. :sad2:

Hi Liessa Glad your Dad is okay and hope you feel better soon!!!

He seemed in good spirits last night thanks!!! He'll be in a full cast for 2 weeks, then he's not to use it for 2 full months! And 6 months of PT on top of that.

Hi there.

Just wanted to see how you're feeling.....

AWww, thanks! Doing better today.

:rotfl:

Glad your dad finally got in and I am so sorry you aren't feeling well.

Your answer was fine!! You know your stuff!

Both of us are on the mend.

Okay, I have spent WAY too much time on this today. Again I guess my competitive nature is kicking in. Every time I decided I had looked fruitlessly long enough and tried to just give up, I would turn one more page of you TR and look some more. I guess I am paying for waiting way too long to jump on board reading your reports. Even now I'm not 100% certain of my answers, but here they are:

Part A -
:confused3

Part B -
I knew women were complicated, but I think there has to be an major award if anyone figures out you two!!! :lmao:

Great job on the guesses! The whole point was to get you to dive into the history and recall the details so they are fresh in your mind before our trip. Obviously, it served its purpose perfectly with you. :thumbsup2

We are complicated beings- what can I say?? Just the way we're made I guess...

Hi Liesa, I'm jumping in! Thanks to your handy-dandy links, I was able to catch up on ALL 3 parts of this huge PTR. :faint: Looking forward to being able to participate now!

:welcome: DENISE!!! :welcome:

And what a massive accomplishment that was!! I think you've set a DIS Record for most complete threads read in a weekend!! :worship:

So glad to have you here!! Make sure you chime in often in our goofy banter. We like the chatter- as you can see. ;)

Congrats to your friend who is adopting! It is not easy (foreign, domestic, infant, toddler, or teen) but well worth it!

I hope your dad is doing well!

This particular adoption has been wrought with waiting and pain!! They were here a year ago and went home empty handed- only to return to try again. Hopefully this time all the paperwork and red tape will be all right!

I hope it is full of joy for them, in the end!!

He's still tired, but doing well overall. THanks!!

I wish I could come to DC to meet everyone. We have offices all over DC, Maryland and VA. Too bad I don't have an excuse to visit one of them!

I really do too, Sophia!!! Wouldn't it be fun to meet there too BEFORE we meet up in WDW?? Ah well, Illuminations ought to be a pretty good time. I"m really looking forward to that with you and Joe! :yay:

(But just to be sure, did you ask your boss if someone needs to run any errands to the DC area?? ;))

Ok...I have not gone back to read anything yet...someone fill me in later - I don't have much time for now.

I had a very busy weekend - good busy, but busy!

And I have officially had to cancel the trip for the family we are trying to send to Disney. We are going to send them - just not over Labor Day - we still have $1000 to raise. So I will be looking for a really good discount for the beginning of 2011, probably.

So...It sorta brings our trip back to the original status - which is good for us! Probably more of a vacation for me this time - which will be great - but I am sad that we have to put off Bakers trip - but it will happen!

Wow Mary, I am really sorry to hear that! :sad1: I was hoping to "hear" all about this special event and join in on the TR for it! :)

Well, the internet's great for that sort of thing. ;)

It's good for a lot of inane stuff.

Such a bummer for them!! I really hope it will come to pass sooner than later for them (I"m feeling elvish today). Maybe it just needed a bit more time to get the money raised, and knowing you, you'll find a great deal for them! :thumbsup2

Me too, Marv! :goodvibes

Good day to you, Liesa. I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better. I'm still not 100%, but definitely better than I've been (Mark and I even went to the zoo yesterday). I wish we could come to DC...but that is five days before his procedure and he will have a lot of work to get done just in case he needs to miss more than the long weekend from work.

Good Morning all !! Is the next clue gonna be easier?????:confused3:lmao:

Yes! It will be easier, but I'm not quite ready to get it up. UGH! Running on fumes today...

Hi Kathy! Then we're both not 100%, but on the mend. :thumbsup2 going to the zoo is a great sign that things are improving!

I wish you could be there too!! Dang! But, Mark DOES need to focus on preparing well, and healing after, his angio! He very well may need to miss more work than anticipated!

I think I"m ready now to type out the answer to Question #3 of Ready, Set, Remember. (I know! It's about time.)

But first…

Phew it was a crazy weekend, and will get worse before it gets better. Wednesday is THE big day for getting our shipment of 14 boxes on the train to be shipped ahead of us. So, it's a whirlwind of packing, decision making, and such. Does this go with us, or on ahead to Portland?? Do we need this for the next 3 weeks or not?? Can we live without this or that?? On and on, and on...

The good news is that the 5K race I've wanted to enter for months, has finally been announced, and we sent in our race forms today!! It's official! We've registered for something we’ve never done before. “And how does this relate to your trip, 7??” you may ask. Remember, my friends, this is The Year of Celebrations ( or some other catchy advertising gimmicky name). I can now go to Disney and give an honest answer by saying, “I’m celebrating a personal achievement!” (I actually did enter than on my reservation.) And it certainly will be! And of course, it’s also a stepping stone to something bigger and better. What’s bigger?? A half. What’s better? WDW. When? I dunno, but I think running in Disney would be really cool. Someday. It’s a goal, and goals are good. For now I hope for a cupcake with a candle on top. Or better yet a Fastpass. I’m sort of thinking though, that may not happen. I mean do you really think the CMs are going to stop me and say, “Hey, what sort of personal victory are you celebrating?” See what I mean?

Moving on.

The short answer to question #3 was bananas. All about bananas in fact. I hate them. Maroo loves them.

BUT, I can do bananas in one form- FROZEN choco-covered ones, with nuts to lend texture (afterall, it IS a texture thing!). And I do plan to get one in the MK during my trip… just once, as I used to do as a little girl. But, you gotta eat them fast, once they get melty and mushy, all bets are off, and it gets tossed into the nearest Pinocchio themed trashcan in Fantasyland.

Maroo does NOT like her fruits and veggies food group in general but, ironically, will eat a banana RAW, in its unadultered, mushy state as a snack during our trip. For those of you who said she’d eat a choco-covered strawberry to redeem herself, can also count yourselves as correct. That was mentioned too.

Count up your scores, and over the next day or so, I’ll try to do the same. I’m a bit behind in this task, and may just leave it up to ya’ll.

Now, here comes question #4: I promised Rosie I’d make this one easier just for her. ;)

What is something we Lady Soldiers are looking forward to doing in WS’s Japan, besides eating at Teppan Edo??

I'm going to be lazy and not look this one up:

Pick a pearl?

D.C.Dismeet sounds great. Lunch, sightseeing, and dinner? Wow! I wish I lived closer :sad1:

I think I got this one even though Maroo didn't exactly say so !!!:rotfl2:

IT is Se Miyuki the Japanese Candy Lady !!!!

Not sure how to score myself on the last one I did gues frozen bananas !!BUT that was all !!!

I THINK I know this one and as I am sure I wont find the time to confirm it by reading in the PTR I'll just write it down:
Pick a pearl.

I wished you lived closer too!!!! Drat! Don't you think Scott would let you come out though, anyway?? :confused3 Ok, not likely, but it sure would be fun!

See?? this was easier! It even had multiple correct answers, just for you.

Not sure either?? Half a point??
