D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

Liesa, somehow I missed that you weren't feeling well and had an "intestinal" thing. I hope you are feeling much better soon.

Just a couple of housekeeping items:

Remember that little girl who badly broke her arm?? Elizabeth? I promised an update, and here is what I got a few days back- sorry I forgot to post earlier!
Ah, nuts! I was just checking e-mail before turning off the computer, and it turns out that little Elizabeth and her mommy and brother and sister are heading back to the US afterall. Apparently, at her 2 week check, they did not like the look of how things were (not) healing in her arm, and need to get further testing and opinions. They fly out Tuesday, while daddy stays behind to help their teammates wrap up and move back to Australia. :sad1: Been a rough few weeks/ months for them.
Thanks for keeping us updated. Hope everything goes well for them!
I've tried hummus a few times and, well, let's just say it probably looked like someone I know who gags during teeth brushing... :rolleyes1:rolleyes1
You just HAD to go there...... :rotfl2:

You know, you can still get Tonga without the bananas?

If you order the BIG KAHUNA, you get french toast smothered in cinnamon and sugar-just like the Tonga, minus the bananas.

Just throwing that out there! :goodvibes
That's nice to know. Can't wait to try them........both!:thumbsup2
OHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOO, the toast vs. pancake tug-o-war!! This is simply too difficult!! I say get both and share!!
I wish I had thought of that.:lmao:
When I lived in NC for a few years, now about 10 years ago, Judy sent me to the grocery store with a list, and one of the items was couscous. I had no idea where in the store that would be so I went up to the info. counter (or whatever it's called). A teenage boy and girl were working the counter that day, and when I asked where the couscous was they looked at me like "are you putting me on?" They'd never heard the word before in their lives. I explained what it was and they were able to direct me to the "international" section. I think they were surprised that I actually came back with the stuff. They still weren't sure it was real.
That must have been Hanniford. I never asked for help in that place.
Liesa,
Wow I take 4 cub-scouts (9-10yrs) to Omaha for a week and you guys fill 12 pages LOL.
:worship: Wow, I only had to deal with 9 boy scouts for 4 days!
Again, all who played Ready, Set, Remember got Question #2 correct!!! HURRAH for you!! :woohoo:
Yessss!!!!
Now, onto Question #3...

This one is going to take a little searching and/or remembering- and it's multi- parted; here we go:

Pt. A- What is the one food Soldier #1 avoids like bubonic plague, but will make an exception for WHAT snack?? I hope that makes sense; that was some tricky syntax I had to work with there.

Pt. B- What is maroo's food group of avoidance, but what snack is she planning to get to redeem herself?? Hint: there's a sick twist of irony here!
Okay, I just make it back home and have to take an exam already! This one is gonna take some quick work....time is running short!
Does anyone even remember that commercial?? The Pace Picante Sauce one with the Texans?? :lmao::lmao::lmao: I, as a Junior High kid thought it was too funny to quote it over, and over, and over, and over. :rotfl2:
New York Cittteeee???
Thank you so much for thinking about Dad last night. He wasn't called in for his procedure until almost 4:00, and was getting rather cranky by then from hunger. He is like me- when you need to eat- you need to eat RIGHT NOW, and waiting makes for a "Grumpy Butt" situation.

When they finally got him in there, he went vago on them, and they ended up having to put his IV in his neck. He was not happy, and furthermore, it shows that he was a lot more nervous about things than he was letting on to, as well.

But, they did repair the 3 tendons and a nerve, and was well enough to eat pizza by 8:00. I guess that says a lot.
Glad everything went well so far!
Thanks again All!! It's been a stressful week, and to add extra on top, I came down with a lower intestinal "thing" I think I picked up at dinner last night. I had hoped to get a new post up today, but it's not going to happen. :guilty: My guts hurt. Immodium is my friend.

So, I guess for those of you who need a little extra time to get your answer in, (Rosie) you get all the way until Sunday night!! That's plenty of time to go to (hint) Thread 1 to find the answer, AND the answer may not be completely in a major post. ;)
Sorry you aren't feeling well, but YES, I have a little more time to catch up and don't miss any of your questions! I would never hear the end of it if Glenn took the lead ahead of me in the contest.....:)
The words to America's "Muskrat Love" come to mind...

"And they whirled and they twirled and they tangoed
Singin' and jingin' the jango
Floatin' like the heavens above
It looks like muskrat love"
You mean that wasn't The Captain and Tennille's song?

That's nice to know. Can't wait to try them........both!(Tonga & Big Kahuna):thumbsup2
I wish I had thought of that.:lmao:

Here are a couple pics of both meals & the pancakes for you to drool over till you get to try them all! :)

You are amazing! You're absolutely right -- the Hanniford at Monkey Junction!

I would never hear the end of it if Glenn took the lead ahead of me in the contest.....:)

Eat my dust Marv!

You mean that wasn't The Captain and Tennille's song?

They sang it too, but they couldn't write their way out of a paper bag.

Hi Liesa,

I hope you're feeling better this morning.

I'm so happy to hear your Dad's surgery went well.

I hope Elizabeth is doing ok...

Again, all who played Ready, Set, Remember got Question #2 correct!!! HURRAH for you!! :woohoo:

Now, onto Question #3...

This one is going to take a little searching and/or remembering- and it's multi- parted; here we go:

Pt. A- What is the one food Soldier #1 avoids like bubonic plague, but will make an exception for WHAT snack?? I hope that makes sense; that was some tricky syntax I had to work with there.

You despise bananas...in their nautrual state or cooked into anything. No tonga for you. However frozen Bananas covered in chocolate and nuts is your number one snack. Which somehow seems appropriate. The covered in chocolate and nuts part.

I am struggling with pt. b. she doesn't like condiments (which I don't think counts as a food group) and dole whips (also not a food group) however I believe the food group is vegetables! It must be fruits AND vegetables since I think the banana is what redeems her. Or the chocolate covered strawberries. All I know for sure though is she agrees to eat her zucchini and cucumbers at each meal, or she must ride the tea cups twice in a row. I'll have to get back to you on part 2. See this was all before I was around! or I'd just KNOW.

:rotfl:

Glad your dad finally got in and I am so sorry you aren't feeling well.

Okay, I have spent WAY too much time on this today. Again I guess my competitive nature is kicking in. Every time I decided I had looked fruitlessly long enough and tried to just give up, I would turn one more page of you TR and look some more. I guess I am paying for waiting way too long to jump on board reading your reports. Even now I'm not 100% certain of my answers, but here they are:

Part A - You do not appear to like bananas, but a frozen banana with chocolate (dark) and nuts is a favorite snack because it brings back memories of your happy, carefree days of youth when trips with your Grandmother to Disney brought so much joy. BTW, DW shares your strong dislike of bananas because she says she loved them as a child and OD'ed on them. She can't even stand the smell now, and it keeps me from getting one of my favorites, banana pudding. Of course, she also ate huge amounts of olives right out of the jar when she was young, but she still loves those. Go figure! :confused3

Part B - This one is more difficult. There are multiple references to Maroo and not liking vegetables based on comments about not eating them for her, etc. However, there are also many comments about Weight Watchers and eating certain vegetables, including zucchini and maybe squash and broccoli (if I am remembering correctly after all the reading). I also remember something about an chocolate chip cookie/ice cream sandwich and eating a salad to make up for it, so this all adds up rather strangely.

Then there are negative discussions about fruits, but eating bananas and strawberries covered in chocolate I think. So based on your clue to Part B, and it being ironic I think, I would guess that Mary's willingness to eat bananas, especially on cereal and milk, is her substitute to eating vegetables.

I knew women were complicated, but I think there has to be an major award if anyone figures out you two!!! :lmao:

Hi Liesa, I'm jumping in! Thanks to your handy-dandy links, I was able to catch up on ALL 3 parts of this huge PTR. :faint: Looking forward to being able to participate now!

Good Morning All, (esp. Glenn, who seems to be the only one up)

Happy Monday Morning :) I'm feeling better, thank Goodness, and have lots of news to share- from the answer to #3, to the invite to the DC Meet, and some silliness in between.

Hope you all are well

G'mornin', Rosie!! I hear your plans are cooking right along! Sounds like you got a great hotel room! :yay: I am going to type up the whole schmeil about the Meet later today. I think we're in for some fun times! :thumbsup2

Glad you are feeling better Liesa!!!!!!

I have to go to bed. Tomorrow is Melody's grandmothers funeral (on Mel's birthday) 7am is going to come very quickly.

Glad you are feeling better Liesa!!!!!!

I have to go to bed. Tomorrow is Melody's grandmothers funeral (on Mel's birthday) 7am is going to come very quickly.

I am feeling mostly better. I ran last night, but almost threw up on the track, so stopped early. But today, I'm feeling much better.

What an awful day to have to go to a funeral! That's terrible!! I hope you can help her find some way to make it a little better- dinner out??

Her grandfather came up from Florida and it just had to be on this day. It just worked out best for her family. Melody didn't even remind him that it was her birthday.

Well, I do hope that it is a nice gathering of remembering all that she was to the family and the good things that her life held. You're in my prayers!

Have a good sleep and we'll see you soon. :goodvibes

The answers must be BANANAS.

Congrats to your friend who is adopting! It is not easy (foreign, domestic, infant, toddler, or teen) but well worth it!

I hope your dad is doing well!
