Something interesting happened to me today. I was at the CVS one town over (but on the same road as my local one) and I ran across the burts bees. Found the lip balm, bath salts, and foot lotion but they were marked 75% off. I picked up several anyway, thinking I would get some to complete my future baskets. (there were only 2 salts and 2 foot lotions left anyhow). When I got up to the register I had a conversation that went something like this:
"These are 75% off."
"Yes, ma'am, 62 cents."
"You know down the road they're 90% off."
"Well, OK, I'll give them to you 90% off but they're not supposed to go to 90. We put a stop to that about a month ago."
Well..I wasn't asking to get them 90% off but YAY..OK! But I don't understand the rest of what she said. She made it sound like 90% off was no longer a permissable price point. I wished I had grabbed more!
So here's an idea: if you come across a store that has them 75% off but go to another "local" store that has them only 50% off..politely ask them to match the price! You may say, why bother if I can go to store A and get 75% off? Because they may not have all the "varieties" left!
