For the holiday season, we decorate our living room floor (a LARGE section of it) with Disneyland, DCA, and WDW attractions and resorts.

We have about every "Monorail Accessory" ever made in the last several years.

Monorail trains (TWO of them with lots of extra elevated track)
Contemporary Resort with Monorail Pass-thru
Poly Resort Bldg. and Monorail Station
Grand Floridian Monorail Station
Epcot's Spaceship Earth
MK Castle
MK Main Street Train Depot (added working clock)
MK "Steam" Train (HO Scale)
MK Dumbo Ride
MK "Mad Hatter" (Teacup) Ride
MK "Astro Orbiter" Space Rockets Ride
MK Space Mountain
WDW Haunted Mansion
DLR Haunted Mansion
DAK Tree of Life
MGM Stu. "Sorcerer's Hat"
DCA "California Screamin' " Roller-coaster (HUGE)
DCA "Orange Stinger" (Bees) ride
DCA "Golden Zephyr" ride
DCA "Sun Wheel" Ferris Wheel ride
Many of the "signs" and lamp posts that were available last year are now installed.
(I'm sure there are a few things I've left off this list.)

And I have BUILT from adapted off-the-shelf hobby store parts:

"Fantasmic!" mountain (ala MGM) with "fireworks" effects, water effects, and various lighting effects, with Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey "spinning" at the top.

"Splash Mountain" The "last big drop" has water cascading down it. No "logs vehicles" dropping down that, but there are some "logs" rotating around in the water at the base of Chickapin Hill (if you wiggle your fingers, you WILL get WET).

I also scout for many other items that seem to "fit" like a Pirate Ship, Steamboat, Old West Fort, and many "small" accessories (flags, lights, Characters, "guests", etc.)

To many of the resort buildings and larger items I have also added tiny electrically operated colored Christmas lights.
These and every accessory that can be battery-operated is connected to a central power supply so that everything "comes alive" with the flick of one switch.

Takes a lot of time to set up, but we love it and so does our extended family and other holiday visitors.

Anyone else?

OK... I've EDITED this post to now include several pictures.
You can click on each to see a larger image.
These are stills I captured from a VIDEO TAPE I shot last year so the quality is not as good as if I'd used a digital still camera... but you get the idea.

Wow, this sounds great. How about posting a picture. I am sure everyone would love to see this.

You need to upload the photos to the internet. A free source like Photobucket (www.photobucket.com) will do the trick nicely. Once its uploaded to Photobucket they are helpful enough to provide the image link you need: just make sure to copy the tag that starts like this:

Copy that tag and paste it into a reply to this thread and your photo will appear!

HTH!

TOO COOL! Dh told me last year he ALMOST bought me some of the monorail set-up for my birthday, but he wan't sure I would like it. I think this would be a really fun project for DH and I to take on together--recreating WDW! Where did you purchase the pieces (someplace in WDW or mailorder)?

We do this on a MUCH smaller scale--we have the monorail but only the Contemporary and the Epcot ball. And it takes up a big chunk of the floor in our small living room! But we also have a TON of Disney ornaments on that tree. (the family room has the "traditional" tree with the village, etc.)

I like your set-up! We put our monorail stuff underneath our Christmas tree, although it's extending far out from the tree now. We don't have as much as you, and we just went last week and found out many pieces aren't available anymore. I'm upset; if I had known, I would have gotten them. We have the castle, Poly, CR, GF, Epcot ball, Haunted mansion, space mountain, AK tree of life, main street train station, the signs (for WDW, GF, etc.). I like the idea of adding lights to the resort buildings. DH talked about that a couple of times. Where did you get the small lights?

This is in my back yard, Not sure if I want to keep ip up much more though. The Forida sun has taken its toll, and three major hurricanes and one minor one have all done damage. But it was fun. Either way it will either be taken out or added too in the next few weeks. I'm thinking of trying to spruce it up at least till next hurricane season, have it wired with lights at night, and I love to sit outside and look at it at night.
