Unfortunately, WDW understands sooner or later some dimwit will get the idea of attacking WDW....its bound to happen.
After that people will be saying why didn't they do more to prevent it.
No one will know for sure until they do the parties this year. I'd say if you think it might be considered a weapon, it probably will be unless it's made of foam or something.
Its hard to know considering we don't know yet their rules. I've gone in with a 4/5ft broom with no issues, I have never seen someone with a bat though. Having not seen that movie, but having seen what it spoofs (Dawn of the Dead) how are you planning to do makeup? If it's going to scare guests they may turn you away due to that.
mostly around the monorails and busesI'm thinking the security will be more strict since the events of this morning.

Check CNN or other news outlet-event in Brussels. What event happened this morning? Do you have any details or possible link to read something about it?
I'm with others who have felt this does not really register on their outrage meter. Disney is floating things out there, and doing things, that really make me question my love for WDW, but this is not one of them. I can completely understand the ban on costumes (and play weapons). I have never dressed up to go to WDW (nor had the urge to do so), so it really is not an issue for me. These rumored resort fees? Closing half of Hollywood Studios all at once? The $149 premium for three hours at MK? These cause me far more angst about the direction WDW is heading.

only security increase around WDW is at MCO
Kinda hard to limit how many water bottles bring with the extreme heat of Florida. But I can see how a backpack can be more of a security issue then adults wearing a costume at the Halloween Party.
Even when the precautions are silly? I hope everyone realizes the next thing to be banned will be large bags, liquids and outside food. I don't want to hear they can't do that, it is private property they can do what they want. If you don't like it, don't come.
I agree with Angel Ariel, the Halloween party costume issue, is not a security issue.
I was talking to DH if WDW gets too wacky with the security we might go somewhere else.
Exactly. And if you don't like their costume policy, don't come.
