COSTUMES NO MORE FOR ADULTS!

You're arguing a moot point. Disney has released their costume guidelines for MNSSHP this year and I haven't found anyone complaining about them.
Ok..I swore that I read someone saying yesterday, on this thread, something about not being able to wear a princess costume, and before that - stating that they will not visit again bc of new rules.

I'm not arguing though. Just don't like to see people stress over something trivial...or cancel a trip over it ...when if they actually though about the bigger picture- it could prevent their stress and they can keep their Disney vacays ...and mainly- bc I'm just so shocked at the massive amount of complaining right now. Disney World is fine. We're fine. Things change. End of story.

Someone did say that, but they were just relaying something that Guest Services said, and Guest Services is notoriously unreliable. They're the same people that said SWW would definitely be happening this year. They really have no idea what's going on. Disney has already posted costume guidelines on its website.

I'll second that!!! I was told 4 different times that I couldn't link my old non expiring tickets on MDE, that I had to wait until I arrived and couldn't make fast pass selections until that day.

I personally know people who have link them in the past.. And guess what? The 5th time that I called and asked if there was a manager available- magically (after a 10 minute hold) my tickets were able to be linked.lol

I don't think most of the phone CMs have ever actually been to WDW.

The scary part is- had I not personally known someone who linked their tickets- I would probably have taken the first CM at their word and given up. No fast passes reserved even though I booked my vacation 8 months in advance (the longest out that I've ever planned!!lol), bc of that I was actually considering still holding on to the passes if I couldn't make FP selections in advance.

Dear Disney,

With the recent changes to your costume policy I was wondering if you could update your "everyday clothing" as well. Can we start with getting rid of skirts up to the crack, shorts with butt cheeks hanging out, and braless nips poking through thin shirts?

Regards,

A 28 year veteran who would prefer for her sons to see girls in pretty, full length princess dresses than clothing that exposes every crack on their body.

But I bet your boys don't mind seeing those 'sights'!

I just can't get worked up about the costume ban and I can see some of Disney's concerns. We are frequent visitors and have seen guests in some amazing costumes which is part of the problem. Sometimes it is difficult to tell a cast member from a guest. Will your princess be able to tell the difference from the "Disney" prince charming and the "Creepy guy" prince charming? If a costume is so professional and accurate, will a costumed guest be able access areas that are not intended for guests? I know it seems extreme but we all know that there are reasons that these new rules have been put in place.

If Disney is willing to give up the revenue from the sale of toy guns, you can be sure there is a valid reason.

A lot has changed at the World over the 25+ years we have visiting and I will admit I am not a fan of all of the changes. But most of the time the changes are reflective of how our world is changing. At the end of the day Disney gets more things right than they get wrong. Once I stop believing that, I will no longer spend my time or my $$ there.
I agree some of the guest's costumes are so good it would seem like cast members working for Disney instead of guest.

Adults can always DisneyBound! It's the grown up way to give a nod to your favorite character, while wearing regular clothes. My kids love it, too.

I couldn't agree more! That is what we are planning to do.

I honestly don't see what the big outrage is...Disney is protecting their own interests. Part of the magic of WDW is the characters...meeting your favorite Disney princess and interacting with them. You expect them to begave like the character. Suppose I stay at CBR and walk around like Jack Sparrow! Sounds fun, until "Capt Sparrow" cusses someone out or acts inappropriately....then the Disney image is tarnished.

People need to understand that Disney is protecting the magic, not destroying it! Also, it is a security measure, which some have already mentioned here.

Remember, just because it's Disney, doesn't mean we get to do whatever we want! There are still rules, there are still consequences. Just keep that in mind, fellow DISers. Let's use our heads, PLEASE! (rant over):thumbsup2

Disney has released guidelines for costumes for adults. They are still allowed for adults at MNSSHP within the guidelines.

The title of this thread is inaccurate and it would be great if the OP would consider updating it.

Dapper Days does not count as a costume. They mean costumes that make you unidentifiable or otherwise have lots of extra fabric that can be used to conceal a weapon (like robes, long dresses, capes, etc.)

And for what it's worth, adults were never allowed to wear costumes UNLESS it was a special party, like the Halloween Party. A grown man dressed up like Prince Charming would have not been permitted into the parks prior to this new rule. Anyone dressed like a Disney face character would be turned away.
Well...when I was there two years ago there was a drunk guy dressed as captain jack at the MK (I am not sure they let him in as he was heading from MK to the monorail) - he got on the monorail and went over to F&W - and they let him into Epcot ( I was in the same car as him and observing his unusual behavior)

I'm pretty sure I know exactly who you are talking about. It was my last year as a CM actually. If it is the Captain Jack I came across he was very very clear on the rules and pushed the limits if you ask me. He was not allowed in MK because Captain Jack actually met there. Since he was not a face character at Epcot he was simply stopped by management and reminded under no way shape or form could he say he was Captain Jack or take photos or autographs with guests and if he was caught doing either he would be booted. I think the rules got stricter over these people who toed the line a little too close and pushed the boundries and the rise in adults dressing up and going to the parks.

Yes. They are totally fine, as long as they are not inappropriate--have something violent on them, or depict drugs/alcohol/cuss words.

I have seen tons of T-shirts, especially at Epcot during F&W, with beers, wine bottles/glasses, drinking around the world etc. Are these banned now?

Would this count as a costume do you think? I wore this to one of the 24 hour parties in Disneyland a few years ago and it was a blast! It'd be fun to bring it out again in WDW, if it's allowed.

I wish this thread with fade away or the original poster would come back and change the title of it.

Disney has released updated costume guidelines that really aren't vastly different from previous years. You would be fine wearing that to the Halloween party. It would be against guidelines to wear it on a regular Park day, but then that has always been the case.
