COSTUMES NO MORE FOR ADULTS!

The rules posted are really no differnt then other years. They state discourage not deny. Only difference I really saw was layered and prop around body costumes. Which to me seemed to indicate your costumes gotta let you fit htru detector which I have no issue with.

How prevalent is the perve situation at the parks to begin with?

I'm willing to bet more prevalent than you think. It's not like those in question would walk around holding up a "Perv" sign. There are some sick, sick people in this world and unfortunately Disney is not immune to people of ill intent.

There are mixed opinions on whether not allowing costumes makes anyone safer, or whether there are alternate ways of achieving the same level of "safety".

For the love of all that is holy, why can't this be left in the hands of the trained professionals!? why does every Tom and Jane assume he or she has a better understanding of security than someone trained in that field???

Glad costumes are okay, but noticed some rules that appear different ...
.... No toy weapons that could look like weapons, so I read that as swords etc because they didn't say just guns.
.... No layered costumes which for RunDisney included Jedi Robes etc.
.... No full length costumes like Princess Dresses ... so no more Maleficient, Queens etc.
.... No masks for adults.

Costume Guidelines
Before you brew up ideas for your next disguise—review our latest list of tips.

While we encourage creativity, we also value safety and good judgement. Please take a moment to read over our latest rules and regulations:

  • All Guests may dress as their favorite character, but may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests.

  • Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable or violent.

  • Costumes and some masks may be worn, as long as the mask does not cover the entire face and eyes are visible.

  • Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground. (e.g. full-length Princess dresses)

No need to get so worked up. It is in the hands of the trained professionals. Nobody here is setting policy. It's a discussion board. And we have been discussing. My opinions are my own and I plan to continue having lots of them.

One of my posts mentioned that I thought it was a bad idea to have security set up in a way that backed up lots of people in a holding tank right outside the gates. That's an area that anyone can access with no prior screening. They said the attackers in Brussels airport yesterday actually chose to attack a similar area right outside the security perimeter. I continue to think it is unsafe to bottle people up in that area a moment longer than absolutely necessary.

But it was ok for you to say in the original post?????

In my original post I was meaning Disney could say follow our policies or do not come. I would never tell another guest that. Not my place. Doesn't matter now, they are allowing costumes with reasonable restrictions.

That is what everyone wants.

Please understand that a well themed costume on an adult could allow access to unauthorized areas. They are simply trying to cover all bases.

As silly as it is, the no full length dresses thing kills it for me. The whole reason I go is so DH and I can have cool and elaborate princess/prince couple costumes. We probably won't go anymore for the party.

I understand the safety aspect to an extent, but it sort of kills the fun. Also if someone wanted to do damage as many had mentioned they would just do it before security where everyone is stuck in a crowd.

What about ankle length instead of floor length? It would keep still keep the princess essence?

I was thinking the same thing. The policy says nothing that reaches or drags the ground. Most princess gowns don't really reach the gown, so I'm unclear on why they listed that as an explanation for that policy. They probably need to clarify that. But certainly ankle length would work (Think Snow White without a cape or Rapunzel?)

When i saw them list princess dress I figured they meant the elaborate ones. I mean people wear maxi dresses all the time and thats allowed on regular days.

The policy has always been nothing dragging on the ground. I wore a full Elsa costume including cape that skimmed the ground and no one batted an eye. It is really for your safety so no one steps on your garment. I do not really see this as a change of policy.

Hmmm. Gotta figure out how the "layered" thing would impact our pirate costumes.

Pirate costumes sound like a lot of fun! :)
I too, am still trying to figure out what layering means for costumes. I guess layers of fabric and or accessories and or props, in one form or fashion. Idk. Lol. :faint:

Dear Disney,

With the recent changes to your costume policy I was wondering if you could update your "everyday clothing" as well. Can we start with getting rid of skirts up to the crack, shorts with butt cheeks hanging out, and braless nips poking through thin shirts?

Regards,

A 28 year veteran who would prefer for her sons to see girls in pretty, full length princess dresses than clothing that exposes every crack on their body.
