Nice you know how to sew. I would need a sewing book for dummies. LolI sew my own Halloween costumes.
I have my own Cinderella and Snow White adult costumes.
I always dreamed of strolling the parks in them.
I'm so sad it will never happen.

(I'm assuming the nun in habit I saw at Epcot last trip was a real nun, but I doubt Disney asked her for proof of occupation at the gate, so, who knows? I also found Waldo, three trips ago!)
With no make-up? NEVER!
Actually it's been posted on many sites and confirmed by a CM on here that went to a meeting this morning that at this moment, the ban includes MNSSHP. But that it's a long way off.
Touring Plans confirmed that at tonight's Christmas Party, no costumes. I know it's not many like Halloween but people do go in costume.
Dapper, while it does appear to be just clothes could be confused with the Dappers in MK and DHS and since it seems that is mostly where the guest Dappers show up .... there lies the conflict.
The rule has always been there for 14 and older and they are just now enforcing it. I'm okay with that on a normal park day. There is no reason for a teen or adult to be wearing a costume. My kids didn't even when they were young, they wore themed tshirts and accessories.
Now I think to take away for MNSSHP - huge blow. I rather we all walk through metal detectors and past the dog brigade to be sniffed than give up costumes.
I was thinking the same thing. The policy says nothing that reaches or drags the ground. Most princess gowns don't really reach the gown, so I'm unclear on why they listed that as an explanation for that policy. They probably need to clarify that. But certainly ankle length would work (Think Snow White without a cape or Rapunzel?)
However, from a logical standpoint you wouldn't want Disney to take the metal detector route.
The expense alone would cause a price raise from tickets, to food, etc etc.
Not to mention ruin the experience of arriving there.
Maybe I'm losing it bc I've been stuck in bed for 2 days..lol..
But seriously I keep reading complaints on here..so many complaints.. That I wonder how the parks aren't empty.
The thing is- we live in a dangerous world right now. I'm sure Disney has had threats. And why not ensure everyone's safety instead of taking a chance? And instead of installing things like metal detectors or more security to cause a price raise, do something simple like a costume ban. I'd say adults in costumes are a minority of park guests anyway.
So adults can't dress up-- seriously? This is the end of the world?
How horribly does this impact you when the reason is safety for all?
That's the thing though.. Some restrictions.. It's not the end of the world if you can't wear something that you could in previous years. Just wear the costume to another Halloween party, or modify to fit the "restrictions" if you want to wear it to Disney. Not sure why you chose an older post, particularly since Disney has now released the rules for costumes for the party - allowing with some restrictions.
Been doing the parties a decade and no, adults in costume are not a minority.
Banning costumes absolutely will not keep weapons out of the parks, that would take metal detectors. The thought that the ban makes us safer is laughable. Especially since adults continue to wear "costumes" on a daily basis.
For some the fun of attending a HALLOWEEN party is wearing a costume, why care?
There are lots of complaints due to the huge number of things impacting guests trips.
DIS is a tiny percentage of those going, but they are a well informed group so they complain.
Even if we all stayed home, the parks would still be very busy.
Why won't it happen?
MNSSHP costume policy would allow both, so long as you don't have a train (Cindy) or the Snow White cloak.
TBH, I am surprised they haven't enforced such w rule long since. Crowds plus drag plus rides equals not great.costumes dragging on the ground are not only a tripping hazard, they can hamper ride evacs.

It's overwhelmingly sad that these rules have been put in place. But not because of Disney, because of crazy people who's mission in life is to kill others. If a huge company/theme park sets rules to keep people safe, then I'll happily oblige even if it's a bit of an inconvenience. Not to mention that an obnoxious amount of people have gone lawsuit happy..doing something of their own fault and then suing the "big" company. So rules are made to accommodate this day and age.
I've been going to Disney World since I was a 1 year old..minus 4 years until I thought the I was ready to tackle it with my son. Things have ALWAYS changed. And they will continue to change. That's life. That's business. But to be upset about a safety issue? I think that's a little over the top given the current climate of the world.
Not being rude.. Just saying that if you look at this from a logical perspective then it makes sense.
