I keep seeing posts about their kids costumes. Do all the kids at WDW wear costumes every day or just some special events? We have never been so please fill me in. I don't want my kids to be left out. Thanks!!!

We've been many times and have never worn costumes. We want to be comfortable and my daughter's idea of a costume is her favorite dress and saying she's Princess Diana. We are going to the Halloween party for the first time this year - so we will be dressing up for that!

The majority of kids do not dress up in Disney world for regular days. There will be a random kid or two in pirate garb and several more than that in princess clothes, but it's really not a lot so your child won't feel left out. The majority do not do it. On the other hand, if your child wants to dress up, it's perfectly fine!

Some do, some don't. It's up to your kid basically.
We went to DL last year in June and DD insisted that she wanted to dress up. We were planning this trip ahead of time, so the year before, I bought an extra Cinderella costume during Halloween time and saved it.
She wore it one day and for a few hours. She did wear it to meet the princesses so those pics are really nice. Luckily I put her jeans and a tshirt under though because she stripped that costume off right away.

I can't imagine my DD wanting to wear a princess dress each day. She is all about comfort! I am considering buying/making some disney themed shirts for both kids to wear though to be a bit more magical!

When oldest was four, she wanted to wear her process dress but I knew her well enough that I brought shorts and a tee along with me. It is hot and those dresses are not very comfy for a long day in the heat. She changed mid way through.

Same thing last year when my little kids went to MNSSHP. We packed their costumes but when it came time to get dressed for the party, my boys knew that they were not going to be comfy so they wore shorts and tees. My dd3 wore her Minnie dress but ended up changing later that night.

On a side note, we took our kids to Sesame Place one year for their Halloween party and being from New England, we have snuggly warm costumes. That day, the weather was so warm that they were dying in their costumes and I had them change. We didn't even pack shorts because we weren't expecting 80 degree weather but they had pants as tees on underneath so they were ok. There were so many parents there yelling at their kids to leave their costumes on! Kids dressed up in those plush animal suits, sweating to death. It was sad. Moral...bring a change of clothes.

We were there earlier this week. Some kids do and some don't. Mine did Pirate League and that was the only day they really "dressed up". They otherwise wore Disney themed clothing. I did see some little girls dressed in things that resembled costumes but weren't. For example I saw girls in fluffy ballerina style skirts and Elsa t-shirts with attached cape.

You will see some little girls in princess dresses but not the majority. It's cute and fun if you are doing a princess meal that day. We have always done themed t-shirts. I try to match the day to the park. For example Jedi Mickey on HS day and we had a jungle Donald for AK. We hit the disney outlet where my BIL works before we go it really cost us very little.

My oldest wore her princess dresses to the grocery store so you bet she wore them in Disney! My youngest on the other hand is not a fan of costumes (too itchy) so she doesn't wear them in the parks.
