Does Cafe Rix sell DDP Snacks? We are going to use our dining plan snack credits for breakfast items in the morning like fruit/donuts/muffins, etc. I know Cafe Rix has these items--do they accept the snack credits for them? TIA!

SO Close now to our trip!

I am wondering if it's now too close - to request a specific building that is? We arrive in 11 days. TIA!

Yup. There's all sorts of pastries, fruit cups, milk... that you can buy with snack credits.

Yes they do. They let us use leftover CS credits as well. If I remember correctly they gave us 4 items for 1 CS credit.

Thanks marivaid and saskdw; this is great news. My wife asked me not to microplan this trip but I can't help myself.

Does the maya grill serve lunch? I thought there was a menu on this thread but looking back I did'nt find it. Was hoping to have lunch there the day we leave before we have to catch ME back to the airport. Any other close places? We will need to be back to the resort by around 1:00 and were hoping to have a really nice lunch. I'm not even there yet and I'm already dreading having to leave to come home. :sad2: It's just such a wonderfully fun place. I'm also in the process of makinkg ADR's . I've already found out LaCellier is booked for lunch the entire week of our stay! Bummer!! I was really hoping to try it. Any of you CSR foodies who would like to offer suggestions of don't miss restaurants I'd love to hear them. It's just my hubby and I and we like kinda basic but delicious food. We have reserved Beirgarten and Whispering Canyon Cafe. Thanks.

I know exactly what you mean. I wish I could let it go but I'm constantly calculating 'ok, the trip is 1/10th over, 1/4 over', etc. My favorite part of vacation is when I pull out of the parking lot at work because I have the whole thing ahead of me. :cloud9:

Yes just there and we used up our leftover snacks and CS credits and we got 4 snacks for 1 CS!

You're trip is closer than mine, but I just want to say I am now only 30 days out. Yep, today is the 10th of August and the 10th of Sept I'll be checking into CSR. Can't wait!!:cool1::banana::banana::banana:

I put in a request for somewhere on the first floor in the Cabanas (preferably Cabanas 8A), back when I first booked the trip. I have a request in for the same location for my Nov 26th-Dec 4th trip too.:rotfl: I love the Cabanas, but mainly just don't want to be stuck way out in the Ranchos.:rotfl: If I was you and location important, I'd call today and have them add a request to your reservation. I believe room assignments are made about three days out. Good Luck and have a great trip!

No lunch at the Maya Grill. The Pepper Market has a nice menu, we enjoy eating lunch and/or dinner there. I like the fajitas!

The Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club has a really nice breakfast buffet. It's one of our favorite places to eat breakfast. I enjoy the lunch menu at Le Chef's de France. I also enjoy eating at The Coral Reef. Lately, I've make my own entree there. Their breaded shrimp is amazing. I get that appetizer, add mashed potatoes and I'm set. I also like the mushroom and spinach stuffed phyllo, but I hate the sauce so get it without sauce. DH loves the Mahi. The rolls at both Le Chefs and the Coral Reef are sooooo good, and I am not a bread eater. The only thing I DO NOT like at the Coral Reef is their lobster bisque. In my opinion, it's horrible. The lobster soup at Le Chef's de France puts it to shame.

Biergarten and Whispering Canyon are fun places, though the food I would not rank as outstanding. I have ADRs for Biergarten. I enjoy the chicken spatzle with hunter sauce and the cheese spatzle. The only think I absolutely love at Biergarten is their Bavarian cheesecake!!! The entertainment is very nice and festive.

The Plaza Restaurant is one of our favorites. The strawberry salad is wonderful as is their tuna sandwich.

If you are looking for a signature restaurant, Narcoosees at the Grand Floridian is great! I love their crab crusted fish, with cream lemon sauce. It's a nice relaxing place to eat. Can watch the boats in the lagoon while you dine.

Another fun place to eat is 50's Prime Time Cafe. My husband got into so much trouble there! He had to carry his plate to the kitchen.

If I didn't have picky eaters in the family I would love to eat at Via napoli or Tepan Edo!

Come on over to the dining board for info on different dining establishments. There's also a sub-board called dining reviews which has been very helpful to my planning several trips over many years.

One thing I can say is that I personally would avoid WCC if you are a mature couple who enjoys delicious food! Of course, that is only my opinion; you will find more over there! :)

A question that all the CSR veterans would probably know...

We decided not to take ME this trip (bad experience the last time) and would like to stop somewhere to get beer/wine/water for our room on our way to CSR. We're from Pennsylvania, to the liquor rules are VER different than most places...in PA you have to go to a liquor store to purchase wine and a beer distributor to purchase anything larger than an 18 pack of beer. Is Florida the same way, or could we just stop at a grocery store and pick up wine and beer? And which place would you reccomend we stop at (any favorites?)

TIA!!

Just looking at wikipedia's listing of liquor laws by state, it looks to me like beer and wine are fine at grocery stores:

"Supermarkets and other licensed business establishments may sell beer, low-alcohol liquors, and wine. Liquor must be sold in dedicated liquor stores which may be in a separate part of a grocery or a drug store. Beer must be sold in quantities of 32 or fewer ounces or greater than 1 gallon. Forty- and 64-ounce beverages are illegal."

We're driving from Houston to WDW in December, and my plan was to stop at a Walmart Supercenter just north of the Orlando-ish area and get milk, ice, and anything else that needs to be refrigerated... and probably some wine too! :lmao: I'm even newer than you are around here... but hopefully that will help. (All I did was search on google maps for "Walmart Supercenter" and then find one on the freeway we'd be coming in on, since I'd heard the store close to the resorts was kind of a madhouse.)

Thank you for your help! We're going to be at the Mercy of the limo company probably as far as where we'll stop. But as long as we can get beer and wine in the same spot, we'll be good!

I will be returning here next July with my boyfriend (it will be our second time together). I can't wait!!!!

No problem - glad I could! From what I've heard from other posters, there's a convenience store relatively nearby (I cannot recall the name of it for the life of me - someone else feel free to correct me here). I say "nearby" meaning a short cab ride away, again just from what I've gathered. Couldn't say for sure since I was very young last time we were in Florida, but if convenience stores there are anything like they are here, you can also buy a limited selection of wine and beer there. I'd imagine the limo company might know of somewhere that's "on the way" where you could make a quick stop for the essentials? ;)

Just popping in to say hello. I booked our 2012 trip yesterday and we are staying at CSR. We are heading to POR in 11 days and I know we will enjoy POR, but I am very excited about CSR for next year.:goodvibes

15 Days to CSR!!!!

At one time POR was our favorite resort. It's nice to take the boat to DTD. (They are back to having the campfires at POR, back where the wooden playground use to be. And movies in front of building 90!) Then SSR took over as our favorite resort, but CSR took over as our favorite resort when we stayed there in March!

I did online check-in yesterday so now we're down to single digits in our countdown!:banana::banana::banana:

:cool1::thumbsup2 Hurray for the single digit dance!!
