Hi Patkingpin, can you bring a box of ziplocks? Head to the food court and fill the bag up with ice??? It's just ice can't imagine that anyone would have a problem with that. My DH and DD drink SOOO much that I would go broke if I had to keep buying bottles of water all day so I figured I would pick up a big thing of Juice Boxes and bottled water and toss a few in a little cooling bag with some ice each day.

Ok, am I the only one who is thinking about the fact that there are ice machines in the hotel? Fill Ziplock bags with ice before going to park. This way the water is cool without having to worry about the ice packs. Plus when the ice has melted, either dump out the water or drink it yourself and fold up the bags to reuse for the next day.

Mimiecp-when in Sept will you be there? We are going Sept 6-19! Maybe we will run across you at the pool, or food court or bar or bus stop...
Hope you have a wonderful trip!
Anyone else going to be at CSR around the same time? Wanna plan a quick meet and greet???

We'll miss you by just a few days - we check into the Coronado on the 25th after staying one night at Pop. We leave on the 2nd. I hope you have a great trip too! :yay:

Ice is available on each floor by the elevators. No need to walk to the Pepper Market.

:cool1: Thanks to the awesome free dining deal that came out this week, we're now booked to return to CSR on March 4th for a week! Woo hoo! My Dad will be coming along, and some cousins, so it should be a fantastic big family adventure.

This will probably be the last time we can take the kids out of school - my son will be in 5th grade but I don't know that I will feel comfortable taking him out once he's in middle school. So I'm hoping it will be a great week and we can make the most of it!!

Thanks Gothtink and Mickman, I didn't realize there were machines on the floors. Even better than having to go down to PM. This will be my first stay at CSR and my first trip back to disney in about 18 years!!

Hi Robin K

This is our first visit to the CSR. We will be spending a lot of our time at the resort and less at the parks this trip. We are there Sept 13th thru Sept 22nd. It would be nice to meet others there at the same time :grouphug: and get some updates and interesting things each are doing or has done. :scared1:
Have a GREAT vacation, hope to see you there.

Thanks everyone. I love the ziploc with ice ideas. Could be how we end up keeping everything going. I will report back in October with the results!

We put the fridge on the coldest setting and filled it with water bottles. Some would be close to frozen and those served as ice packs in the cooler bag most days.

Overall though, we always travel with ziplocks in various sizes - great for taking fruit or extra food away for the kids to snack on when they're hungry 2 hours after a meal, great for putting dirty stuff in to keep your bag clean, etc. Heck, I pack some items in ziplocs in my suitcase just for organization!

We decided today to switch from Pop Century to CSR. I am so excited! :hyper:

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

We have also done the switch from Pop to Coronado and we couldn't be more excited. It is going to seem like forever to get here but the planning is going to be fun. The resort looks awesome and I think it is about time for us to try out a Moderate :goodvibes

I think you will really enjoy staying at a moderate.

We're not going until December, but I promise we'll have a million of them to give you. I think our family would kill us if we came back without them. :rotfl:

Thank you! We can always use Christmas decoration pictures from the resort. :)

Well, I am sorry that I won't get to say hello in September if we had crossed paths at the pool, but if you can't pass up a great opportunity. I will take lots of pictures in September. You have been very helpful to me in my trip planning! :)

I am sorry too...but perhaps we'll run into each other at one of the parks. I will have my KatMark bag on my back which was given to me by a DIS member last year.

KatMark don't feel bad ! Maybe you can swing by just to make sure everything's okay

We're going to stop by for a Gelato. :)

Is there a toaster we can use in the morning at Pepper Market or Cafe Rix? I like a very particular bagel I would like to bring from home. We go to the foodcourt each morning anyway for mickey waffles or chocolate chip pancakes for the kiddos. TIA

I thought there was, but now I am second-guessing myself. Kathy will know when she pops back in. There is a microwave, which won't make very good bagels!

I truly don't remember if there is a toaster or not. :confused3

Wow - not sure what to say! :sad1: that you won't be at CSR (it's kind of a tradition), but :) you get to try two new resorts this trip. Each resort offers something different, and even though CSR is home for us, I enjoy staying at other resorts sometimes. Enjoy your trip, eat a meal at the Pepper Market, and hope you don't run into any CSR managers who want to know why you're cheating on CSR! :rotfl2:

I know...I am still kind of in shock about the whole thing. But it is impossible to pass up a free studio room. :sad2:

Even though you won't be at CSR, it sounds like you have a great trip planned. You can still run over to CSR and have lunch at the Pepper Market and lie in your hammock with a nice cool beverage.

Congratulations on the DVC villas. You're right that's too good to pass up!

Thanks, Vanessa. The idea is taking some getting used to. But I've always wanted to stay AKL, and Old Key West looks really, really nice.

As I stated above, we're stopping by for a gelato and looking in the lake to see if Ally or anyone else has joined.

I hope it is a great time for ALL of you. :)

I am saddened to say that we will NOT be staying at the CSR. This is the first trip since 2004 that we have not stayed at the CSR. However, an opportunity that we could NOT pass up, was presented to us. We are staying at AKL in a one bedroom villa for two nights and just hanging at the resort (this has been the case since our upcoming trip was planend) and for the last four nights of our trip, rather than be at the CSR, we are staying at Old Key West on points given to us by a friend.

I will need ALL of you who are going to the CSR in the near future to take pictures for me and, if possible, let me use some of them when I update this site the next time.

We ended up at OKW in 2007 when we went last (supposed to be at Animal Kingdom Lodge but with all the construction starting we switched) and we really liked it, we had a studio which had a mini fridge and microwave (which was very handy to have).

We are planning on staying at CSR end of next May for the first time (my son (14) will love the Dig Site Pool:cool1:) so hopefully I will have lots of pics to post when we get back.

Aww, Kathy, so sad you won't be staying at CSR this time. I think you will really like OKW! And I know you will LOVE AKL, because it's just so different from a typical Disney stay!! Once you stay at a DCL resort, it will be a little difficult going back to a typical resort room. OKW is awesome because the rooms are nice and large!

Be sure to check out the community center at both DLC resorts. There is always something going on there.

We are at the 21 day mark to CSR!!!! You know I will go picture overboard. If there is something in particular you need for the new thread, let me know.

We added two more weekends, one in Oct and another in Nov, but this time at POP and ASMo. The full size beds will be a bummer, but we love those resorts too.

LDcruiser-
Sounds like a plan to me. I know we have nothing planned in the morning of the 13th-we are doing MNSSHP that night. Then we are there on and off the rest of the week. Let me know what works for you!
I hope you have a wonderful vacation too!

Anyone else want to join us?

I'm surprised no one has said it yet...

Dibs on the hammock!

Sounds like a good plan Kathy :). We'll just have to find some time to run into each other at one of the 4 or 5 days we're overlapping (or however many it was, it's on my spreadsheet. In cyan as a matter of fact!)

You know, with my new toy, I'll be taking lots, and lots, and lots of pictures :)

(Oh hey, nifty, my ticker says 1 2 3 today :) (1 month, 2 weeks, 3 days).

Okay I need you guys (youse guys?) advice on rooms at CSR. When I originally made my reservation I asked for Casitas since I know buildings 4-5 are standard even if 1-3 are preferred. But now I'm sort of second guessing myself because I've also heard that Cabanas are good/better. Ugh. So what we're looking for is a quiet place, but one that isn't a trek all the way to El Centro or to the Dig Site. I think Ranchos would be too isolated for us, but maybe I'm wrong? I did request a top floor room since that will help with noise. Any thoughts on all this? What are your favorite rooms at standard level? Thank you in advance!

Maybe Cabanas 9 would be more to your liking for distance?

For our upcoming vacation I requested Casitas 4 or 5 OR Cabanas 8A or 8B. I thought it would be nice to be near the fitness center, and the quiet pool at the Casitas is nice too. It's not that far of a walk to the Dig Site, about 5 minutes.

We had Cabanas 8A in March. It took us seconds to get to the Dig Site, or the quiet pool at the Ranchos. It was about a 10 minute walk to El Centro. Our room was 8152, it faced the ranchos and was very quiet.

I appreciate all the info, let me get that out of the way first ;) Yeah we did put in a request for Casitas 4 or 5, maybe I should call back and add Cabanas 8A or B onto the end there. Mostly we were concerned with being TOO close to the pool or El Centro because of the noise (we're light sleepers). I'm wondering if I should ask if I can be away from the elevators, but I think that might be asking too much.

Maybe you might want to ask if you can get a room that does not have a connecting door. Our neighbor was loud. We heard every word of his conversation. We have a Conair Soothing Sounds with clock radio we use as a noisemaker so we can't hear outside noises. It worked great at drowning out our neighbor! Rainfall is the sound we used.

:goodvibes Can't wait for our first trip to CSR. We will also be there Sept 24-30. There is a total of 17 of us going, staying between 5 rooms. We have requested to be away from the dig site. Our kids are all older but one, and she will only be 9 mths, so we figured we could walk there is needed. Thanks for all the tips about CSR.

My one question is.... What are your thoughts on The Maya Grill? Any good? Worth using one of our dining credit on?
