So. If I have a preferred room, would you still recommend cabanas? Which Casitas would be best, ( need an elevator) and how far of a walk is Casitas to bus stop 2?

Does anyone know if you can get a cot or roll away bed brought to the rooms in CSR? My brother will be going with the rest of my family in July and doesn't want to have to share a bed in the room and is wondering if they can bring a cot up, or if he would be allowed to bring an air mattress.

We're checking to CSR next week (OMG! Its finally almost here!) and had a few questions I was hoping someone here could answer:
4) We booked thru a AAA Disney specialist. Can I call CSR or Disney about where our king room is located? We aren't picky, but it seems like a non parking lot view would be more...magical? romantic? all of the above?

You can't find out where your room is located until you check in. My King room was on the top floor of building 2 facing the parking lot and was defninitely not a corner room. I was really disappointed in it. What's bad is that location is now in the preferred area.:confused3 Building 2 is the only building that does not have an elevator so my choice was to use the stairs by the quiet pool and climb four flights of stairs then walk all the way around the building or to walk all the way from the bus stop to building 3, use their elevator, walk across the bridge walkway, then walk around to the back side of building 2, and then walk the whole length (going around two corners to the last part of the building) to my room. Definitely not magical. I asked a CM about the area my room was in when I couldn't find my way back to it that first night and the CM laughed and said I was in what the CMs called "no man's land" because that part of the building is so hard to get to. I couldn't believe they had put a King room up there facing the parking lot.

Couple quick questions about the King rooms :

**I just read that usually Kings are in the corner with possible two windows? Has this been everyone elses experience? That would be fantastic!

** Also, I think I read that the king rooms have a little couch/bed (like at the Poly, sorry cant remember the names of those little beds). If so, is it something my 10 year old could sleep on? It will be hubby and I and our 10 year old. If we can get the king bed and kick the kiddo to the little bed :lmao: that would be great!

Thanks!

see my above post. My king room was definitely not a corner room, nor did it have two windows, nor did it have a day bed. They will not let a party of three book a king room unless the third person is under 3 y/o and in a port a crib.

Preferred rooms are in Casitas 1, 2, or 3, so you would have to give up your preferred room to have a chance at the Cabanas. Cabanas are still classified as standard rooms. If you want to keep your preferred room I'd request Cabanas 3 to be closer to bus stop 2 and to make sure you don't get a parking lot view. If you switch to a standard I'd request Cabanas 8A (close to main pool, 2 minutes from bus stop 4, and less than 5 minutes to main building) or maybe Casitas 4 or 5 if you wanted to be close to bus stop 2 (the first stop). The only building that does not have an elevator is Casitas 2. The first time I ever stayed at CSR I was in Casitas 1. It was a good location because if it was raining we could stay undercover all the way to the main building, restaurants, and to bus stop 1 (last stop). I wouldn't pay extra to stay there though as we prefer Cabanas 9B, 9A, or 8A and those are standard rooms.

A winter storm advisory was issued yesterday for our flight time tomorrow (Friday). So rather than sit and worry that we wouldn't get off the ground I rebooked our flights to leave this evening ahead of the potential storm. I was able to add a night to our CSR reservation (tonight). So we leave today!!!:cool1:
The first 2 days of our trip we don't have tickets as it is a room only reservation. We'll be at Universal on Sunday. We'll have plenty of time to relax at the resort so if anyone has any questions while we are there I will check in to the thread.:goodvibes

Safe travels Pigletto! Enjoy your vacation! Sounds like you got a better deal out of the storm!

Have fun!!

I'm sure I'll be thinking of you as I shovel out the driveway tomorrow. ;)

Pigletto, that's exactly what we did with our early Feb trip! The airlines hadn't yet called the alert/advisory even though this major storm was coming, so we decided to just make the change and rebook. Good thing we did because the storm effected travel our scheduled departure day and the day before! Ended up with 2 extra days at CSR! :) Safe travels and lots of fun to you!

I am so glad to hear that. I felt a little bit alarmist rebooking because of a warning. The issue was if our Friday flight was cancelled there was only two very expensive flights to change to late on Saturday.. making us lose airfare money and 2 days of vacation. The way it worked out the Thursday night flight was cheaper, I ended up with a credit and CSR had room.:thumbsup2
Roughly 150 dollars to not lose 2 days and pay through the nose? Sign me up:rotfl:

I am exhausted. My brain went into overdrive at midnight and I had to work at 5am.. but who cares? 10 days of vacation start today.. I'm sure I'll catch a nap!

Thank you so much for the good vacation wishes everybody!:grouphug:

Is there WI-FI in the room?

Casitas 3 would be closest to Bus Stop 2 if you are in a preferred room.

Yes, you can get a cot. I'm not sure of the cost per night (I want to say $12?); I believe they are first come, first served. Many people have brought air mattresses to CSR to use for kids who don't want to sleep with siblings.

Hoping for a little guidance here. We are staying at The CSR for the very first time in August. My family likes being close to the pool, food court and buses. We presently have a preferred room booked, but after reading some of the posts, I am a bit confused between the cabanas an casitas :confused3. Can anyone recommend a good central location that we can request?

Thanks a bunch :flower3:

Thank you for those yummy pictures dina7, Oct. can't get here soon enough!

So we booked CSR and requested a standard room with a king bed. We want something quiet but not too far from the main building. Suggestions?

Dina, thank you so much for sharing these. I am so happy to see the past back on the menu with the alfredo. I'll for sure be having that in September. :)

If you pay for preferred, you will be in Casitas 1, 2 or 3. These are all very close to the main building (registration, food, gift shop); Casitas 1 is close to Bus Stop (the last one picked up and dropped off); Casitas 3 is closer to Bus Stop 2 (the first one picked up and dropped off). These three buildings are a longer walk to the main pool, but about five minutes to the quiet pool.

So we booked CSR and requested a standard room with a king bed. We want something quiet but not too far from the main building. Suggestions?

Cabanas 9A or 9B would be ideal...both a short walk to the main building and not too bad of a walk to the main pool (we were in Cabanas 9A in 2009 and it wasn't more than five minutes to the main pool).

So, am I crazy for not requesting a specific section @ CSR? :confused3 I know that it's just that... a request and that there are no guarantees. Since we've never stayed here, we're not sure which section we'd prefer. After looking at all the pictures (a million times it seems) and studying the map, I'm not sure I have a section that stands out to me more than others. Ideally, I'd like to be close to a quiet pool/laundry room and a bus stop. I don't mind having to take the girls to walk to the main pool or building, so I'm thinking that just about any section they put us in would be okay. The Ranchos do seem pretty far away, but again, I'm not sure it's a "bad" section.

When we stayed @ POR in 2008, we simply requested the Magnolia Bend area (I think that's what it's called), and ended up in a great location. When we stayed @ CBR last year, we requested Jamaica (my parents had stayed in this section before and found it very convenient), but ended up in Martinique. Actually, I loved staying in Martinique, as we were close to the main house, a quiet pool, and a bus stop.

So, I'm thinking of just playing the waiting game, and seeing where we get put. It seems that everyone has a different opinion on their favorite section. We did not book preferred... just a standard room. I don't mind having a parking lot view, since we literally sleep and take short breaks (sometimes) in the room.
