Contemporary Theme Park View vs. Polynesian Club Level Theme Park View

Doing a split stay at the end of April. For our last 3 nights we are currently booked into a Contemporary Theme Park View that is not discounted. I have been checking to see if any discounts pop up and nothing has.

I decided to check the other Magic Kingdom resorts and see if they have anything discounted. For about 20 more dollars we can switch to the Poly Club Level Theme Park View room. Is it worth it?

I'm worried about the construction and view since the Bungalows have been built. Does anyone know if this has affected the view? Will the pool be open yet?

Looking for any details that anyone has on the view. Thanks so much in advance!!

Have you checked either Tikiman's FB page or the construction thread here on the DIS? That should give you some additional information regarding the view. I've read from some that the view has been greatly impacted, but how it will impact your stay I think that's hard to really know unless you knew your exact room number ahead of time...

I have stayed at both Poly TPV and CR TPV. They are very different. Poly kind of gives you a "wide angle" view of the lake with a very small view of the park. Fireworks are seen from straight on, but are in the distance. CR gives you a more up close and personal view (although the parking lot is below you, we have never really paid any attention to it). Since you are to the side, the fireworks go up kind of between the castle and Space Mtn. The fireworks are a lot louder too.

Depending on why you want the TPV room, I prefer the view from CR. I like to be able to see the park in more detail and I like being closer to the fireworks.

As far as whether it is worth it for $20 per night to upgrade to club level, I would ask if your reservation includes the dining plan. The dining plan has so much food, that the offerings in the lounge aren't all that important. If you are not on the dining plan, you may really appreciate using the lounge for breakfast and snacks you would otherwise be purchasing OOP. Since I do not use the dining plan, if I were in your shoes I would probably seriously consider it.

Thank you for your replies! We decided to stay with the Contemporary. My family wants to really experience the sights and sounds of the Magic Kingdom and monorail views. They said they want to watch the Disney magic throughout the day and watch the fireworks from our balcony.

I'm definitely going to take the monorail over to the Poly and check out the new construction. We have previously stayed in a Lagoon View room at the Poly and loved sitting on the beach watching the boat parade and fireworks.

Thanks Again!
