OH and by the way...I do believe in global warming but not so much as the reasons that they put forth...maybe some emissions are causing it but I believe it is just part of how the earth goes through natural changes....like the Ice age.

Also even if it turns out that it is not true, this planet could use a good cleaning up and if it means getting there by stating the world is melting than so be it. Maybe people will start thinking about what we are doing with all this pollution. Has anyone been in Los Angeles lately....YUCK!

Gee I sound grumpy today dont I...:rotfl2: I'm not but my posts are sounding very angry....:headache: :lmao:
Al Gore and his ilk are counting on people thinking like this. Sorry, but if you believe it's naturally cyclical, why in the world would you support bogus efforts like Al Gore's to limit people's freedom, commit billions of government dollars we don't have, and keep the Third World in poverty? I just don't understand that kind of thinking. Should we pick up trash, limit pollution, and seek affordable alternative energy sources? Yeah. Should we spend billions and form some kind of "one government" assault on a bogus scam? No.

Welcome home, mkingdomlvr. Glad you had a good trip. :)

Hey...it's warming up here. It's only -15 now. I'm not being funny...I'm being serious. That is a big improvement over yesterday.

Our friend came and fixed our water problem. My DH's car still won't start, but hopefully it will soon when it warms up.

Also, my mom called, and my step-dad's tests ruled out any big problems (praise God) but he still is not feeling well, so now they are trying to figure out exactly what it is he has, and how to treat him.

Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts. :goodvibes

Continued prayers and positive thoughts. :goodvibes

Hi guys! My friend's husband just left...we dismantled the carport that fell down on his boat under the weight of the snow on Christmas Eve. (Btw, that is Frank sitting on the hood of my car  )

UGH!!!!!!!

looks like frank makes a good supervisor. my felines are excellent supervisors too.

You tell Frank this: Too many chiefs, not enough indians. He'll know what I mean and maybe he'll pitch in and quit supervising. :rotfl:

Hi guys! We are back home and NOT looking forward to going back to school tomorrow. I think the alarm will not be my friend in the morning!

Michelle the boat doesn't look too bad. Just the cover maybe. Will the insurance cover the car port? and the work area? Hopefully you won't have any more weather like that this winter!

1476 days doesn't seem so long! We can make it!

we could sing that song, every time one of bho's "colleagues" is thrown under the bus. come on! EVERYBODY!!!

:rockband: party:

the wheels on o's bus go round and round,
round and round,
round and round.
the wheel's on o's bus go round and round,
you'd better watch your back.

party: :rockband:

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

Verse 2

The people leave o's bus right away, right away, right away...
The people leave o's bus right away, to keep from being in-dict-ed....[or rolled over]

I don't know if you all have seen this, but it's got it's funny parts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWiXy55OHyY

It does poke fun at our half a bit, but the very first joke and the last 2 jokes are priceless :)

that was great - I subscribed to Uncle Jay's channel, now I'll know all the news and in a sing-song voice, too!

Wow! I go away to visit family and you guys start a whole new thread!!! I'm not even going to try and catch up.

Hope everyone had a blessed Christmas and a safe and Happy New Years!

Mine was cheerfully politics free, I don't think we even watched the news more than a couple of times-and that was to get the weather and tide info for the beach! :rotfl:

Happy New Year to you, too! Thanks for the cinnamon bread - I spent New Year's Day making some - delish! I'm not nice enough this go 'round to give any away - I'll just keep it in my freezer to save for breakfast for the next few weeks.

Hi guys! My friend's husband just left...we dismantled the carport that fell down on his boat under the weight of the snow on Christmas Eve. MAN that was a little bit of work! We thought it was made of PVC, but it was actually steel. :lmao: Busted two saws-all blades just trying to cut apart the first span of bars---the ones that came down onto the boat. Once we got that one apart and took some of the tension off the structure, we were able to take pins out and take the rest of it apart like Tinker Toys, thank goodness. It was still hard work though!

Here's a few pics in case anyone is interested. The day it came down:

IMG_1505.jpg

The damage once we got the structure off the boat (not too bad, actually).

IMG_1548.jpg

And this USED to be a two-story-high welding shop at my ex-MILs house. It came down the night before the carport came down on the boat. Fortunately there wasn't any welding equipment in there at the time. Nothing much lost besides the structure itself. Sorry the picture is pretty dark, it is pitch black out here at night. No street lights. (Btw, that is Frank sitting on the hood of my car  )

Hey, Obama's commerce secretary nominee — Gov. Bill Richardson — has withdrawn his name for consideration amid a pay-to-play scandal. With a grand jury looking at him for corruption, it seems he can't answer any confirmation questions because, errr, they don't allow cabinet nominees to plead the fifth.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28493919/

So, we've got Obama's chief of staff embroiled in the Chicago governor's corruption, and a growing controversy over Hillary involved in pay-to-play to benefit Bill's library, and now Richardson stepping aside so he doesn't have to incriminate himself before Congress. Yup, it's gonna be a lonnnnng 4 years. Are there any dems left that aren't lining their pockets with corrupt money?
LOL.
loco, loco, loco - tsk, tsk, tsk - Gov Richardson probably had many other reasons why he wasn't pursuing this cabinet thing...surely it wasn't due to scandal. You know better than that - only Republicans get involved in scandals - Dems are pure as the wind-driven snow, always....and PE Obama will prove that to us, right? Nancy will too - she herself told us that her dems are the most ethical in history, right?
LOL.

Also, my mom called, and my step-dad's tests ruled out any big problems (praise God) but he still is not feeling well, so now they are trying to figure out exactly what it is he has, and how to treat him.

Glad to hear the good news.

So, hockeymom - got a link to your trip report?

sorry if I upset you that was not my intention :flower3:
I never said I support anyone, least of all Al Gore :rotfl2: all I said was that through out the worlds history our temperatures have changed. As the Ice Age was a change. As for Al Gore I pay him no mind. But I do believe that the Earth is warming. I dont feel that it is due to people causing it.

And even if it is bogus..... if it gets people to stop polluting our waters and our air and start respecting the planet we live on it will be a much nicer place for us who walk on this Earth and the ones that live in the sea.

I for one left LA because the pollution was so nasty. I would go to work in the AM and look out at the hospital windows at the mountains that were in a dirty sky but could see them and by 3pm they were no longer to be seen because the pollution was sooooo bad. I could no longer jog every day because I would start coughing...

So if this so called warming helps clean up the Sky's I for one am all for it.

Can you not tell me that you would not like for people that dump there car oil in the sewers and the chemicals that people rinse into the sewers and all the countries like Mexico, that use there rivers as there plumbing in there houses as there toilets that wash into the Oceans to stop...:confused3

You may not believe in global warming and that is cool....but you cant say that cleaning up this planet is not needed....can you :confused3

Al Gore is an extremist ....there are scientists that say it is and scientists that say it is not.....I do believe there is a change. We have seen it in the storms, the rain the snow. I think something is going on with this planet...after all it is old.....does it have to be called global warming ...nope ....call it what you may.

Hey to you creative and funny people --

Going to WDW in less than 3 weeks!!!! And can't seem to stay away from the computer for all the planning- fun fun fun fun!!!

Our group will be pre-ordering the photopass CD so we'll get the nice, fun group shots. I read on another site that it's a lot of fun to take themed pictures - ie pics of the hidden mickeys, funny hats, flowers, signs, entrances to rides, etc. That sounds like fun - I'm terrible about remembering to take pictures - I'd need something like a theme to keep me taking them. Have y'all done that kind of thing? If so, of what?

Thats a fun idea....I have seen many fun hats at WDW...like in Epcot at each country they were different hats and clothing....maybe a hat theme and everyone in your group can pick somekind of hat to wear.

Okay I was REALLY looking forward to my kids going back to school tomorrow, but it is snowing hard and sticking. AGAIN! I get the feeling my kids will not be going to school tomorrow...:sad2:

The boat isn't damaged nearly as bad as we were afraid it would be. As for the insurance...we aren't going to claim it. The boat winters here every year, but with the understanding that it is at our friends' risk not ours. Too many tall trees around here, we were not willing to be responsible if one fell on it. Unfortunately a tree didn't do the damage...if it had their insurance would have covered it. Snow damage is specifically excluded. Didn't seem like an issue on this side of the mountains... Our homeowners would probably cover it, but it wouldn't be worth the ding we'd probably end up taking in our premiums. Our friends are going to buy the parts, and my husband will do the work. Everyone is satisfied with that arrangement. Fortunately it looks like the window frame and pane that broke can be replaced singly, and won't affect the other two. The leather canopy is undamaged, and just the aluminum canopy frame is junk. Where it attaches to the boat it snapped without damaging the hull, thank goodness.

The welding shop is on my ex-MILs property. Her insurance would cover it, but I'm not sure she will claim it either. It had pretty much served its purpose. Since my ex-FIL passed away there's no more boat building or fishing gear construction going on there, and the shop had pretty much become a ginormous storage shed. Thank goodness there were no acetylene tanks or anything like that in there any more. That could have been a really bad scene. Here's another picture of it from the front. Pretty scary. It was log construction. REALLY heavy.

WOW....what a bummer....:sad2: that is about the boat not the kids going back to school:goodvibes Hope it does not cost to much to fix.

I have been following your weather....so much cold and snow and ice. Bet your kids are in there rooms crying right now knowing that they may not be able to go back to school tomorrow.....gotta love snow days!

My one son starts back tomorrow and he is walking around the house saying "Do i really have to go back to school"...like I'm going to say "No Micahel you can just stay home forever"......NOT.....

My other son in HS goes back on WED...he has a total of 2.5 weeks off....fun.

We have no snow days off here, or rain, or ice...but we do get fire days off when the Ca. fires are so bad that we cant see a thing.

My kids are actually really anxious to go back to school. They are bored to death with each other, and miss their friends. Right now they are fighting and arguing and driving me bananas.

Yikes, this thing is a train wreck already and it hasn't even pulled out of the station!!!

Well, on the bright side, if Obama spends 4 years dealing with all these types of controversies, he won't be able to do much to destroy the country.

Happy New Year all! We're back from Christmas and family trip to Virginia, complete with family drama. Hey, wouldn't be a family trip without some drama, would it?

I like the bus song for Obama! Seems to fit in nicely, esp. after the Richardson announcement.

School's back in tomorrow-back to the grind!
