Yay a new thread! :cool1: Thanks hockeymom. :)

Okay so here's the peanut butter Buckeye recipe:

3/4 c butter (no substitute)
3 1/4 to 3 3/4 sifted powdered sugar
1 c peanut butter
1 TBSP milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
16 oz semisweet chocolate
1 TBSP shortening

Melt butter in saucepan over low heat or microwave to melt.

Combine butter and 2 c of the powdered sugar in a medium mixing bowl and beat until smooth. Add peanut butter, beating until combined. Stir in milk and vanilla. Beat in enough of the remaining powdered sugar to make a firm, crumbly-looking mixture.

Roll mixture into 1 inch balls. Arrange on a tray and chill for 30 minutes.

Melt chocolate and shortening in a heavy saucepan over low heat. Cool slightly. Using a fork, dip 3/4 of each ball into the chocolate mixture so the ball resembles a buckeye. If the chocolate mixture hardens, remelt over low heat.

Place balls with the undipped portion up on a tray lined with waxed paper and chill until firm. Store in refrigerator.

Yay, a new home! :goodvibes

How about we make the quote the title and add the specific holiday greetings into your first post, hockeymom? You could update it at the appropriate times to have themed pictures we could all provide?

I just really like the idea of our title saying what we are out to accomplish. But, if y'all want to keep it as is, I'm just one little church mouse, so don't mind me. :rotfl:

Those sound yummy, but we keep a MICHIGAN household. LOL

Ain't nothin' wrong with "Old School" conservatism. If our leaders will remember that and their roots. We just might get back on track.

It reminds me of a conversation I had with a young Jewish woman at the Vatican. She was saying, her Catholic friends wished the Church would change....progress. I kind of reminded her....that's why the "Episcopal Church" exists. She laughed and smiled...and then said..."she couldn't wait to give her friends that answer."

We are conservatives. JM lost support because he was not. We don't have to change our values to fit other's wants and needs

”Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking your potential." - Liane Carlos (from a page of the 77 greatest hockey quotes)

The will to win is important, but the will to prepare is vital.” - Joe Paterno

You miss 100% of the shots you never take.” - Wayne Gretzky

I also like Citius, Altius, Fortius. It's painted everywhere at the Olympic Training Center. It means Swifter, Higher, Stronger.

:lmao: In that case, you buy the little candy cups and you put a dab of chocolate in the bottom, flatten the ball a little, drop it in, and cover it with chocolate. Peanut butter cups. :thumbsup2

Ohhh we can do peanut butter cups! :)

I think the latin makes us sound really smart, plus it's kind of throwback. :thumbsup2 But I like what you've done too. We can file away the Citius, Altius, Fortius for the next thread. Feel free to use that in your classroom too. When I redo my condo, I'm putting it up on one of my walls. Just not sure where yet. I think it's so inspiring!

I love the Gretzky quote too. :cool1:

I'm going to warn you now. If you do it, and if you give them out on your Christmas trays, you will not be allowed to stop. EVER. Your friends and family will descend on the tray the moment you hand it to them/set it down, and if the peanut butter cups are not there they will WHINE LIKE BABIES!!!

They are sooooo good, but a bit time consuming to roll, so I'm just warning you. If you don't want to be stuck doing a zillion every year DON'T SHARE. :rotfl2:

 I love it! I just think it's a great, positive quote, and from a President who led in a time when the country started going thru a lot of economic troubles.

TLSnell, there's definitely nothing wrong with Old School Conservatism. That's not what I meant in the other thread. I think we're looking at up and coming leaders who are our "New School" that represent Conservatism. Same types of values, but a different way of presenting them. Some are more Reagan-like than others, but there'll never be another Reagan. And admittedly, when I hear or read Old School, I think rap music. And I hate rap music. :lmao:

Thanks for the new home! We'll be all moved in and comfy by tomorrow!
(DS was on the right road and has arrived safely) :thumbsup2

I like the Latin quote, too.. for the same reasons, and for the meaning.

The more I read the Paterno quote, the more I like it! We do have Michigan/Buckeyes/Paterno on the same page.. maybe its a big ten theme by accident?

Glad to hear he's safe and sound!

I'm about to turn in for the night. I've been reading WDW menus and dining reviews so long, I feel like I'm cross eyed. Time to give it a rest, methinks. :scared:

I really liked the Paterno Quote. Hmmm, maybe we're destined to use the big ten theme?

I'll go look for some more good ones on the net. There's always good sports quotes!

It's no accident that they use the latin quote at the OTC. That's where we train the best and the brightest. :thumbsup2

Now that he is home I gotta get some sleep. Early church is going to feel really early as it is after 12 now. Enjoy all you night owls. :goodvibes

You're welcome, just trying to save you guys some grief. ;) We learned the hard way. Our Christmas baking group (core is my best friend and myself, and then her SIL, my mother and sister, and a couple of other friends depending on who can actually make it any given year) is absolutely required to make certain things or we face the whining. The peanut butter cups are one of them. English toffee is another, and then I make these mincemeat popover things (but I use a home made fruit and nut filling instead of mincemeat) that take forever too. We make all kinds of other wonderful stuff, but if we try to skimp out on any of those three things, the whining is deafening. :lmao:
