Okay guys...quick prayers for me please. This storm is coming in fast already. I'm about to venture out and see if I can get to the gas station and the store. Cross your fingers!

Prayers sent! And be careful!!!!

And, please let us know when you get back home - we worry about all of y'all ....

Don't worry, will do! I haven't left yet because I have to wait for the sheet of ice to melt off the windshield.

Hey, and somebody start us a new home while I'm gone, eh? We're gonna get evicted off this one pretty soon.

I've been watching and I haven't seen a single car go down the road in the past half an hour. This. Is. Not. A. Good. Sign.

A Christmas Story for people having a bad day:

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.

Then Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.

Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.

Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drank all the cider and hidden the liquor. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.
The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?'

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

Just watch out for SwedishMeatball. She'll tear you to shreds for bad/improper use of punctuation. Just ask Charade, he had one measly little comma and all heck broke loose. :rotfl2:

:confused3 I miss all the fun.

I swear I've never pointed out any sort of grammar issues before.:rotfl: I mention one little random comma though and he's not going to let me forget it.:lmao:

THATs the Swede I know. I was thinking you had a personality change. And PLEASE, Do not go after my bad grammar or spelling......

Someone PM me with the new thread link! I liked the earlier suggestion:
"Conservative Thread - We're still smiling."

Along those lines.... It was a pleasure to hear that the latest Palin thread was closed. :)

Be careful, Michelle! Prayers said for you.

prop. 8 won in california. marriage was determined to be between a man and a woman. they're reviewing it because of the violence and intimidation tactics still going on today against prop. 8 supporters, and, of course, because those who voted in favor of prop. 8 are not smart enough to vote i guess. whatev, right?
I find the entire situation sad. But one thing that really irritates me about this entire thing is the protestors who keep saying the Mormon churches, for example, broke the law by getting involved and thus need to lose their tax exempt status. I find this irritating because these people clearly don't know the law yet speak as if they do. The law as I read it in various newspapers says a church cannot endorse a candidate and keep their exempt status, but they can support or oppose a proposition, bill, etc. and put their money behind it, as long as it's not a good chunk of their total spending (I believe the number's around 5%). So despite all of the people saying they must lose their tax exempt status, the law doesn't jive with those statements. They did nothing legally wrong. If you're going to protest the church involvement in Proposition, at least get your facts straight beforehand.

I saw this the other day, but didn't read it. Thanks for posting; I enjoyed it very much.

Hi guys, we're home safely! My road was pretty bad but once I got up to the highway it was cleared so I took the cables off. Made it to the store just fine. It started snowing as we were coming out of the store. I think we're as ready as we'll ever be now...

I'm so glad you got home safely, Michelle!

Since seemingly "ain't nobody here but us chickens" (aka you and me :rotfl2: ), would you like to do the honors and start our new thread? We need a new home now. :goodvibes

you are correct, just not candidates and with a limit on the contribution. the mormon church is targeted due to the high dollar amount contributed, but there were lots of other contributors and supporters too. it has been pointed out that, based on exit polls, about 71% of black voters were in favor of prop. 8, yet the black churches are not being protested. in my own city, the mormon church and roman catholic churches have been "hit". on one occasion, the roman catholic church was graffiti-d, and the two spanish speaking women were hired to clean it off the walls were beaten up.

i was on a thread about this prop. prior to the election. i expressed the concern that, if the prop. did not pass, there were likely those who would make an issue of of a church, minister, or other official who did not want to perform the ceremony. naturally people on that thread came just short of calling me an an idiot for thinking any such thing would happen. based on the response of that prop. having passed, i suspect i was spot on. i also find the protesters behavior so abhorrent that, besides the obvious reasons, the prop. should not be overturned...if only feeds the evil.

I've seen people jumping all on that idea too, that no one would dare demand a church marry someone if they opposed it. Yeah, right. I find that very hard to believe.

And I don't care what your beef is with a law, destruction of property and assault is inexcusable. Those people belong in jail, period. You can protest something without making fools of yourselves and harming others.

Ummm....okay. :confused3
You've never heard the song "Ain't Nobody Here but Us Chickens" I take it? Must be a Southern thing, sorry. :rotfl:

We went to a Brazillian steakhouse in Orlando. Has anyone ever been to one? It was so fun. The people walk around the restaurant with HUGE skewers of different kinds of meat (beef, pork, chicken, sausage). You have a card on the table that's green on one side and red on the other. If you want them to stop, you flip it to green and if you don't you flip it to red. Plus they have a gigantic salad bar, soup, dessert. It was so good and I ate TOOOOO much! The service all the way around was just about the best service I've had anywhere. I'd highly recommend it, but come VERY hungry!

Texas de Brazille? We have one in Memphis, and I love it!
