I don't mean to sound stupid, but I see ya'll talk about e-rides...is this something that if the park offers it you have to purchase seperatly? I'm trying to get on the "ins and outs" before our first trip and what to expect and plan for. Also, I see you all talking about PS, can you only make reservations for those if you are staying inside the park or can anyone make reservations to attend a character breakfast, etc.? One more and I promise I'll let ya go On the different parades, and special shows at night, I take it from what I've seen ya'll post is that you just need to show up for those things early to get a seat, but is it best to get a seat or can you find other places within the park to view them?

Thanks so much for all your help!! My DH says I'm putting way too much thought into all this, but I'm just trying to get all my "little mickeys" in a row so the family doesn't miss something that we didn't know about.

OK let me see if I can help a bit.

E-nights - You must have a ticket to do this. The parks stay open (in a limited way, not every ride) after close and if you have a ticket (which you do have to buy) you get to stay! I am 99% sure this offer is only open to onsite resort guests.

There is an info page on the DIS site (there is a huge website in addition to these boards!)

PS-Priority Seating- Avaliable for all sit down meals, not just character breakfasts. If the meal is inside a park (like The Storybook Breakfast in Epcot) you also need admittance to the park. Anyone can make PS resservations, not just resort guests.

"Seats" for parades and such. The only one that really has seating that comes to mind is Fantasmic, and yes if you want to see it you need to show up early and get a seat (how early depends on time of year). For most of the parades a 'seat' is a bench or curb along the parade route... we don't seek out spots 2 hours in advance for parades, we get lucky and catch them sometimes but if I am going to wait around a long time for something it better involve a high speed drop or chocolate

Someone who likes to fight for a good bit of curb in order to see the parades might be able to tell you more about that.

E-ride nights do require the purchase of a separate ticket. It seems like they were around $12 or $15 for the 3 hours, if I remember right. You need to be staying onsite to participate in those.

Anyone can make PS's for any of the restaurants, including character breakfasts. Just call 1-407-WDW-DINE within 90 days of your trip. The really popular meals fill up, so it's best to make PS's pretty close to your 90 day mark, especially if you're going a a busy time.

You'll need a seat to see Fantasmic at MGM - it's in a stadium. You can expect to wait in line for 1 hour at busy times, which is why we haven't seen this one yet. We're doing the Fantasmic Dinner Package (also made through the same number as other PS's) this trip so that we can finally see this show. The others (Spectromagic parade, Illuminations, Wishes) are out in the open, but you'll need to pick a spot along the parade route (the route is marked on park maps) or a spot where you'll be able to see the Wishes fireworks. People start lining up early for these, although we've always gotten good viewing spots about a half-hour before showtime, even during busy times.

Don't listen to your husband this time!!

You can't put too much thinking into this ahead of time.

It's better to spend the time and energy NOW learning as much as you can, then to spend your precious vacation time stuck in gridlock, or standing around dazed and confused!!

Check the park hours for each day you plan to be there. And check everything again when it gets closer to your trip.

I thought one of my favorite attractions was going to be closed during my trip, but the dates have changed and now it's going to be open.

If I hadn't seen it on this forum, we would have missed it.

Planning and research are very important to having the vacation you are dreaming of.

The unofficial guide to Disney had a good section about where to watch the parades. I got a copy from my local library.

So true! Most people that have never gone to WDW before have no idea how large these parks are. The more choices you make ahead of time, the better...you can always change your mind, but it's much harder if you are not prepared. Use this site and Deb's site...what a difference it will make.
