Go figure. I haven't updated since the 21st! I really thought I had done an update last week.
Senior moment!
I was really expecting to have a lot more free time over the holiday break but I guess the good news is that I was surprisingly productive at the office.
I probably shouldn't have bothered but that’s a story for another day.
Sigh.
Anywhoo here we go!
Training wise it has been an ok couple of weeks. While I can’t say the ankle is really better, or anywhere close to 100%, it’s not worse. Right now, I’ll take that. It’s different, which may be good, or not, but so far I still have a full green light with the caveat to not do anything stupid.
12/24, Christmas Eve, I did speedwork at the Gym. It went ok. 4x800 with my average pace ending at 8:18. That’s just under the top range for my plan which is that 2:03 finish but definitely over the sub 2 hour pace. I did notice the ankle though. Could be the treadmill, could just be going faster.
12/26. I decided to skip this run. I was supposed to do a 4 mile tempo run but given how the ankle felt on xmas eve, it seemed best to rest it.
12/28. 8 mile long run. Goal was a pace between 9:39-9;55. Happy to report this came in at a soggy 9:29 pace.
12/29. Saw PT/Chiro. General consensus was the mobility is actually a bit better and since running really doesn’t seem to make it worse, I can keep going.
12/30. Foam rolled the snot out of my left leg. Seriously. I must have spent 10 minutes on that calf!
12/31. Saw PT/Chiro who noticed improvement again. Ugh, that means foam rolling really works. Did speedwork at the gym. 3x1600. Goal was a pace between 8:24-8:40. Came in at 8:29.
1/2. 5 mile tempo run. Goal was a pace between 8:54-9:15. Came in at 9:01. I have to admit. This sucked worse than the speedwork. I decided it’s a mind game. The speedwork and tempo runs suck so much that you look forward to the long ones and they seem easy. I am being brainwashed!
1/4. 10 mile long run. Goal was a pace between 9:39-9:55. Happy to report this came in at a soggy 9:42 pace. Felt the ankle quite a bit after but 3 hours in compression socks and I have to admit, it feels a ton better! I tried a new fuel at the 5 mile mark and BLEH! It tasted ok but once again, major sugar rush which just makes me feel icky till it settles down. I would really love to find something that didn’t have the sugar but had electrolytes and caffeine and I don’t think it exists. I’ll stick to my margarita blocks I think. I did have one of my squeezable fruits after the run and OH was that lovely! I may have to pack some and put in my checked bag for the race. They do give you a box of food of course but this was SOOO nice!
I may have had an AHA compression sock moment. Jeff and I had a lovely date night last night. I am SO tired of flat shoes, I decided to hear a heeled boot. But, my ankle felt decidedly unstable so I wore compression socks instead of boot socks. Not only did it feel much better but this morning, my ankle felt better than it has in almost 2 months. VERY exciting.
I did do some trip planning over the past 2 weeks!

PHM trip planning
1. We booked some FP's! They are largely placeholders and certainly subject to change but I'm glad to have them on the books.
2. Ann and I spent, no joke, almost 50 minutes on the phone with member services getting our 3 reservations linked so that we would not have to move rooms. Apparently each ressie has to match exactly! To the . at the end of a middle initial, phone numbers all of it. But, it is done! And I can even "see" it worked as we now have only 1 magic band order instead of 3. YAY for that.
3. I spent yesterday figuring out how our costumes will go together and feel like we have a better plan that should be relatively easy to execute and be comfy!
4. I ordered some new shorts for the costume. I was REALLY warm at the 12K I ran in my black knickers. Granted, that could have been the race legs I had on but it was not warm out so it’s a bit concerning. We will see if they work.
5. I ordered a new tank for the costume as the color of the one I’d previously bought was not right at all. Sadly, it arrived and it wasn’t right either. Still working on this one!
6. I booked a massive spa appointment for the day after the PHM. 80 minutes of pure bliss in the form of a sports massage.
7. I put together a budget! I had to see if I could really afford that spa appointment after I booked it lol.
8. I started my pack list.
And........Some Spring Break Trip Planning!
It's official, we have plane tickets! We are headed to Hawaii for spring break. I feel a bit like a traitor, we are flying Hawaiian both ways, the price just couldn't be beat. While I won't get my 2 free bags each way, we will all get a full meal each way so that's kind of nice.
1 night in Waikiki and then 5 at Aulani.
Major happy dance!
In 49 days I get to run through a castle!
Just not this one

Yep, I finally got my DL half pictures. I wish you could see more castle and I was actually the focus of either picture but hey, at least I am smiling!
Last but not least, keep Ann in your thoughts. She tweaked her knee on Thursday and is scheduled to run the WDW 1/2 next Saturday.
