Coffee blues

The coffee being served at DVC resorts is (terrible)!!! Can anyone tell me when the nescafe contract runs its term. and will we have the coffee we used to have back in 2000! don't know the vendor but it sure was good. the nescafe must go........

We just bring our own....one more reason why it's so nice to have amenities like a coffee maker in our rooms with DVC!

I wish they would put flavia brewers in each unit. They are a little pricey, but each person can choose what type of coffee they want (reg, decaf or flavored) and they create far less mess and waste since you brew one cup at a time.

I have one at home and it's the only thing I miss when we're at DVC

I think the coffee has been Nescafe since the 1980s (if not before) Nestle sponsors "The Land" so its been that long (and I doubt its going anywhere).

This is my one big complaint about WDW. Finding a place to get a good cup of coffee is difficult. The only place I have found where you can get cappuccino, or flavor shots, is the coffee tent on the Boardwalk. I think that is one of the reasons why I like BWV so much!

Guess we're not coffee connoisseurs - the pack they had at SSR was fine. It was cheaper to go to Winn-Dixie and buy the 10-pack of Maxwell House. As for the Flavia, aren't those individual packs a lot more expensive? I can see if you've got 5 people, one who wants regular, one decaf, one orange, one mocha and one chocolate it might be nice - but for the two of us, we just brew up a pot....

They come out to about forty to forty five cents a cup- Not cheap, but not $1.25 that dh was spending at Dunkins every morning. I don't drink coffee every morning, but maybe 3 mornings a week I will, and I can make tea if I want instead too- just made more sense for us, but I keep thinking it would be great at DVC too.

The biggest reason I like it- No pot to clean!

But Flavia is owned by M&M/Mars so until Nestle's out of the picture, I guess I won't hold my breath for it.

This is my big complaint too!! Even on the Disney cruise, where the food was top notch, that crummy Nescafe coffee was served! It has such a weird taste....usually by the second day of our WDW trip I am dragging my family to find good coffee in the parks. MK doesn't have a coffee cart anymore, but the other parks do- and in my experience they always have a long line!!!

One other coffee puzzlement... the WL store sells coffee, but not filters for the villa coffee makers. Is this the case at other DVC's?

Now that I think of it, I'm not sure I've ever *tried* the WDW coffee. I usually bring a bunch of filter packs to brew coffee in the rooms. When I'm at the parks, I generally want something cold to drink!

Dh and I are 'heavy' coffee drinkers, so I always bring my own coffee and filters. A coffee maker in the room is one of the small pleasure's of DVC.
A good place to get a cup of decent coffee or expresso is at Epcot's Fountain View.

I live in the land of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters so that Nescafe stuff tastes vile in comparison. Our rest areas even serve GMCR for free!

We ALWAYS bring our own. My mom, first DVC visit, was insisting that she should pack her coffeemaker just in case we didn't have a pot in our room (she's a newbie, please forgive her). I assured her that we would have TWO in our 2 bedroom villa!

The original sponsor of "The Land" was Kraft. Nestle didn't come on board until about 5 years ago.

LOL!!!! Judy- the way I look at it, I'm saving 80 cents per cup-(okay once the brewer is paid for) compared to Dunkin's- that'sabout $300 per year, so that just about covers one of our passes!

Plus it is really good coffee-

I've had Green Mountain too! That's another good one!

First stop we make is at Publix to pick up REAL coffee filter packs. I agree that the stuff they supply is vile.

Lucky for us, we have a friend that is a "local" and now anything "leftover" goes to him and he holds it for us until our next visit.

I've become a Starbucks addict lately. That was one thing I missed on our last trip. We even tried a cappucino at he Italy pavillion - that had to be good, right? - wrong it was undrinkable. I did find a Starbucks at the premium outlet mall, but we only stopped there once. Is there any site that maps out the area Starbucks? Too bad Disney won't partner with them.

We're from a small town, so coffee isn't coffee if it has flavorings added. DD moved to Chicago and got into the Starbucks habit, now when she comes home everyone here makes fun of her "habit". They call her "soft" and "rich", since everyone here buys their ready-made coffee at the local Wesco for 85 cents. Wesco is a gas station, and they recently got flavored milk for the tourists, so now our town is cookin'! Needless to say, we think Disney's coffee is just fine.

I live in the Pacific NW, where coffee is king. When we moved here from Massachusetts 10 years ago, the coffee craze had not yet hit the country, so we were surprised to find espresso carts outside of nearly every store... and we were even more surprised that they existed in the high school halls, so that kids could pick up a cup to take to their next class.

Starbucks has a pretty mediocre reputation around here. We have plenty around, and the quality is OK... but most people seem to think of it as mass-market quality... at premium pricing. I think there are a lot of places better than Starbucks... but I don't avoid the place either.

I also wish Disney would partner with Starbucks (or better yet, Caribou) as I do not like the NesCafe coffee made from "syrup", either.

FWIW you can get Starbucks coffee at Tubbi's Buffeteria (in the Dolphin Hotel).

LOL! They serve Nescafe there, too. (I asked). It is better than most of the coffee seved elswherem though, probably because they use the whole beans and grind it right there. I think most of the places with the "not so great" Necafe stuff use some kind of "coffee syrup" to make it. IMHO, it tastes just a hair better than the instant coffee my Mom used to keep on hand (from the 50's).
