Coffee blues

I agree that the coffee at Fountainview Cafe is better than most other Nescafe serving locations because it is not from a coffee concentrate, but rather from freshly ground beans. Or maybe it's because the wonderful desserts there also make the coffee taste better. :D

One other location that I know of that has pretty good coffee is "The Writer's Stop" at MGM where they also have some pretty good pastries. The CM there said that it was not Nescafe.

I think it was about five years ago when they stopped calling their coffee "100% Columbian" and began calling it "Nescafe". It was much better then. :(

We are up in the Seattle area where you can't walk a block and a half without running into a coffee place or two or three.
On our 2001 I had packed a Starbucks T-shirt. On two of the days I wore it I was asked where to find Starbucks coffee.
One lady actually seemed a bit frantic.
At the time there was a Starbucks in the Target Greatland off of 517. I don't know if its still there or if my location is right...its been a few years.
I have been told the coffee at the Kona Cafe coffee bar is better, but I havent tried it...I tend to save my calories for treats (mickey ice cream bars) while on vacation ;)

Kona Cafe has Kona coffee in the press pots. I got CarolAnnC one on one of our previous visits and she loved it. The normal coffee there is a Kona blend (I think something like 10% Kona).

I've never had coffee at Artist Point in WL, but a couple Dec's ago they were running a new water supply pipe to the beverage bar in Roarin' Forks and were bringing pots of coffee over from AP for those wanting coffee. It DEFINITELY wasn't Nescafe.

We bring our own coffee with us, even bring disposable styrofoam cups & lids so when we leave our room we carry a cup or two without being bogged down with our lifetime refillables.

I don't foresee Nescafe going anywhere in the near future...... but I also didn't expect to see Exxon dropping its sponsorship of UoE.

I've become a Starbucks addict lately. That was one thing I missed on our last trip. We even tried a cappucino at he Italy pavillion - that had to be good, right? - wrong it was undrinkable. I did find a Starbucks at the premium outlet mall, but we only stopped there once. Is there any site that maps out the area Starbucks? Too bad Disney won't partner with them.
Starbucks - Columbian for us! We never have coffee blues when we stay at WDW, because a pound of Starbucks is always one of those "essential" items we pack.:teeth:

By the way, they've started serving press-pot coffee at Artist Point ( it started a few months back). Our server said they use a special blend of java beans from ??? ... Not Starbucks Columbian, but not bad. Also, we found the coffee stand on the boardwalk was ok in a pinch.

I wish they would put flavia brewers in each unit. They are a little pricey, but each person can choose what type of coffee they want (reg, decaf or flavored) and they create far less mess and waste since you brew one cup at a time.

I have one at home and it's the only thing I miss when we're at DVC:(

So you want everyone to only drink your preferred coffee? Are you getting kickbacks? :cool2:

Given that we get (1) coffee filter for (1) pot of coffee (Decaf don't count!) I'm not quite sure what the hub-bub is all about. For coffee in the room we all have to acquire additional coffee. We all have our strategies for feeding the caffeine monster.

Personally, we just pick up a pound of Blue Mountain beans for each week we're away and bring our own grinder. It's not cheap, but it is comparable to the 'hipster' coffee chains in terms of cost per cup and in ONSHO's, much better.

We bring our own from the local Health food store. It's called Wicked Woman Blend and we only buy coffee at the Poly's Kona Cafe and also the Coffee at Boma's (also a press pot) is a treat.:smooth:

Pig Pen, LOVE that Green Mountain Coffee! We'll be taking that with us this Sept. when we're at SSR and BWV.

Can anyone tell me what size filter the coffee makers at SSR and BWV take? TIA!

Sure would be nice if they got a better coffee in the rooms....we always bring our own b'cuz we really don't like the complementary one.
Where's the best coffee served in the parks/resorts??? I'd travel far and wide for a really great cup of coffee.

DH thinks I am nuts -- but then again he is not a big coffee drinker! I always bring fresh ground hazelnut coffee from home, pre-measured in ziplock baggies. I also bring my own filters, creamers, and sweet 'n low. That way, I can make my coffee the way I like, wherever we are staying. I even made "coffee gift boxes" for my parents and in-laws when we took them last summer to BCV. Glad to know I am not alone in my little coffee fixation.

BTW, going on the Magic this summer and I will pack my own flavored creamer and the pink stuff! Hopefully the coffee on the ship will be okay. ;)

Just like keenercam. i grind my own and bring it with in ziplock bags .. along with the filters etc.. I have never tried the coffee at WDW just cause I am so picky..

Me too...I am a coffee fanatic and don't like brown tinted water, I want the high test and it had better taste good. So I grind my own beans at home and take it in ziplocs, and I also take my own powdered milk (I will not use cremora or other substitutes), and I take my natural sweeteners like turbinado sugar or succanat. Yes you can see I'm the picky one around here! And when I get enough coffee into me I look like *this*: :Pinkbounc

The problem isn't ONLY the quality of the coffee that they leave in the DVC units, jimminarik, it is the overall quality of the coffee all over the parks and resorts.

I would love a decent cup of coffee with my dessert at dinner at any of the sit down restaurants at WDW, but am hard pressed to find a place that serves anything OTHER than Nescafe.

We are also very picky about our coffee. The only thing we miss when we are down there is our local coffee place. God bless Joe at the Babylon Bean. After many years of suffering with bad coffee while on vacation, last year we finally figured out that to make good coffee in the villas you must use bottled water and bring your own blend. The bottled water was actually the key. Fla water is pretty bad.

Yep. That's exactly what I want.

It's all about me.

Me, me, me, me, me!

Thanks for articulating it so well for me.

Did I see the word Dunkin as in Dunkin Donuts??? THAT is the one thing I miss in Disney. My friends tease me the week before a Disney trip, wondering if I attend "meetings" of Dunkins anonymous while I am there. LOL

Is there a Dunkin Donuts near any of the DVC. I may have to consider buying more points closer to a Dunks. LOL

It must be a South Shore thing Deesknee-

That's where I live too!:D

P.S. There is a Dunkin Donuts out on 192 Heading East on the Left Hand side- maybe there's one closer, not sure.

This is my one big complaint about WDW. Finding a place to get a good cup of coffee is difficult. The only place I have found where you can get cappuccino, or flavor shots, is the coffee tent on the Boardwalk. I think that is one of the reasons why I like BWV so much! ::yes::

Most of Disney had weak coffee, so weak it doens do much for me at all in the am. try getting some coffee at the Kona cafe thet have really, really good coffee. You can even by soen coffee from them to brew in your room. Also they Italian pavillion in Epcot has really strong coffee(espresso). I usually bring a pound or two of Starbucks for the room

We stayed at a Residence Inn in Raleigh a couple weeks ago - and they had the single brew Green Mountain in the breakfast line - I think they were testing it out!! I LOVED it - .. they also had regular brewed coffee that tasted like water in comparison!

We also have Green Mountain regular brewed at gas station near us here in South Texas.

It is VERY good coffee!!

Anytime. If there's anything else you need me to clarify, I'd be happy to help.

I notice you avoided responding to my question. :p

FWIW, those little single brew cups do tend to be much better than most office coffees (the primary target market) and the machines neat little gadgets. I just don't think they'd be fair to foist on us who prefer our own coffees.
