Coffee blues

The problem isn't ONLY the quality of the coffee that they leave in the DVC units, jimminarik, it is the overall quality of the coffee all over the parks and resorts.

I would love a decent cup of coffee with my dessert at dinner at any of the sit down restaurants at WDW, but am hard pressed to find a place that serves anything OTHER than Nescafe.

I guess it's a matter of perspective...we don't go to WDW expecting a culinary delight, so on the off chance I want coffee and we're not cooking in the villa, I'm not disappointed.

. I just don't think they'd be fair to foist on us who prefer our own coffees.

Point taken, but it would be much better than the crud they are foisting on us now!

It was my personal wish. Nothing more.

We lived in Europe for 11 years, where we got used to good, strong coffee. Definitely can't find that in WDW! Wanted to warn everyone about Norway - we thought maybe that would be a good cup to go with those yummy pastries - but nope, nothing but brown dishwater!!! Even the coffee at Kona isn't strong enough for us ;-( Where, o where, is a good cup of coffee at WDW?

I didn't read the whole thread, but don't they serve Kenya AA at AKL? I think I had a cup at Mara.

Now, if they only built a DVC resort at AKL... :scratchin

Now you coffee drinkers understand what we tea drinkers have to put up with (almost) EVERYWHERE in the US. I carry my own tea with me. I prefer loose tea but have found a few tea bags that are "acceptable."

When I'm in a restaurant I order hot tea and only hope that I get water that is more than lukewarm. Usually the tea bag they provide is Lipton's or something of that calibre so I just take out my own and use it.

Even at the GF tea they don't brew it properly - they leave the tea in the pot. It can get bitter if it stays in too long.

Ah, Wicked Woman Blend....its my best friend's favorite...very good! Get it at the little natural foods market here too. I wonder if Chamberlin's carries it?

I just bring my Gevalia. I have a bizarre addiction to powdered creamer....though usually I use real cream or half and half...it get my fill of the scary artificial stuff while at WDW. I keep a jar of it in my DVC bag, with the laundry detergent cubes and salt and pepper.

There is an Einstein Bros. bagel place up off Sand Lake Rd (near Chamberlin's)....they have pretty decent coffee too.

I'm not that picky though...drank instant until my Mom realized that I was drinking coffee every day and finally got a real coffee maker. She didn't see the use in brewing real coffee for just herself. She does now! Still brews it barely stronger than dish water though .

And yes, I hear you on the tea too....good tea is an art form.

We pack our own coffee & filters - can't trust what you'll get in a DVC kitchen! As far as the WDW restaurants go, the coffee at Victoria & Alberts is pretty cool - you get your own personal table-sized alcohol-heated coffe maker (looks like something I made in freshman chemistry!). The coffee seemed to taste better that evening - although the atmosphere may have had something to do with it!

 I have a hard time drinking coffee in 99% of all dining facilities.
The best way to deal with this situation is to buy a coffee press. They are small, and don't require any filters, or plugs. You can use the coffee maker, or microwave in your room to make hot water. Instructions on how to use a coffee press are on coffeegeeks.com.
I bring my own coffee. I also roast my own coffee beans at home. I prefer the Yemen, and Kenyan coffees. This might seem a little extreme, but it's a great hobby, and there is a large selection of green beans available at sweetmarias.com. You can't get fresher than that.

www.campmor.com
has lexan coffee press in 3 different sizes, also a variety of 1 cup brewers and 1 cup filters for backpackers, these are great for travel as they take up almost no room in luggage

After many years of suffering with bad coffee while on vacation, last year we finally figured out that to make good coffee in the villas you must use bottled water and bring your own blend. The bottled water was actually the key. Fla water is pretty bad.

Ditto! We always stop at Publix to get jugs of water for coffee and drinking.

I'm huge on coffee and can't stand this instant crap Disney throws at us. It's not even acceptable, how can they think so? Even a contract with Folders would be better. Maybe when they signed the Nescafe contract coffee wasn't as important as it is today.

I didn't see it mentioned earlier - Tubbi's at the Dolphin serves Starbucks.
