I will never cease to be amazed by the number of WDW visitors who clearly have done absolutely nothing to prepare for their trips - no guide books, videos, etc. They arrive with absolutely no idea of what there is to see or do. How do I identify these people? Its easy - just listen to their conversations. We got back from WDW yesterday. Here are a few comments we overheard during the week.

1. Overheard at the EPCOT front gate: One guy talking to another - "What's that big golf ball anyway? Is that new?"

2. Same guy - "I hope this park isn't as crowded as Disney World was yesterday." (I assume he was referring to MK)

3. My daughter and I were entering Mission:Space. There was a family in front of us at the turnstiles - mom, dad and 2 young kids. The CM stopped them to measure the kids to see if they were tall enough. Dad says, "Oh, is this a ride?"

4. As we are getting ready to board Kilimanjaro Safari, a mom says to a dad, "What if the kids are scared of the animals?" Dad's reply, "If they're scared, we'll just get off."

So let's hear your best overheard clueless guest comments.

A coworker just got back from a five day trip to WDW. My favorite line that I heard from her when she returned:

"We only rode those Dumbo things and those spinning cups. We didn't see any other rides!"

I asked her if she meant that they didn't see any other rides that her five year old son could ride and she said:

"NO! It was like all of the rides are hidden or something!"

Ummmm... so the signs and maps just didn't clue you in?:rotfl: :rotfl: :sad2:

I know, that sounds so mean! I understand if you are not a Disney addict like all of us here on the DIS, but come on! :rotfl: :rotfl: :sad2:

I have posted this story before, but it fits well here too....
A conversation DGF and I overheard while in line at Mickey's Philharmagic last year....
Guest (Very Agitated): "Why won't you let me in here...I have one of those FastPass things!!!"
CM (Very Calm): "Ma'am, this FastPass is expired...and it's for Peter Pan."
We were :rotfl:

All I can say is :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

What a waste of a lot of $$$$$$$...

Some people waste their money and it amazes me this person can hold down a job...Park maps are everywhere...Get a clue.

You must be the BIG CHEESE at work and your co-worker is the test subject for your lab experiments, right?!?!?!

On the monorail

DW-lets go to Mk
DH-no lets go to universal
DW-I think that is further away
DH-nope this train will take us right there.

MY whole family:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

 This was on another thread but it blew me away...

While sitting peacefully by the Mickey Pool watching and photographing my children as they went down the slide I was privy to a very interesting conversation:
Kid (about three): Mom, I have to go to the bathroom.
Mom: Number one or two?
Kid: Number one
Mom: Then go in the pool.
Kid: Okay.

Nice!
Time to go to the Goofy pool!

The "Shocks" thread has some great ones. One of them was a couple discussing where they were going to go the next day thinking that their passes would get them in to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

To quote "K" from MIB... "A person can be smart... but, people are stupid"

I hear a lot of people refere MK to WDW. But I like it when people say in frustration, "How come there has to be so many kids here?!"

Some people are complete morons...how can you NOT find any other ride?!

I agree that some comments that are overheard are priceless...makes you wonder what the people expected when they "planned" their WDW vacation.

However, if I overhear someone make comments like some of these, I (much to my DH's dismay) will usually speak up and share some of the wisdom I have gained from our visits and the DIS boards. For example, I wouldn't have been able to keep myself from politely offering my advice to some of those people...it helps spread the magic, I think. Of course, as soon as I walk away, my DH always tells me that they will just think I am nuts...but oh, well!

THis really isn't 'stupid' but kinda dopey. My gf just returned from WDW. She was there for a convention. Now, she has been to WDW 3 times. So she says to me..."I left the convention at the CR early. I took the monorail to MK and then had to wait in huge bus lines for the bus back to POR since MK was just closing!!! It took me almost an hour to get back." I told her she should have just walked over and it would have taken her about 8 minutes to get there and there would not have been nearly as many people waiting for buses. You would think people would know better.

In line at Guest Services at Epcot....

A young guy and his girlfriend were buying one day tickets to Epcot and wanted to buy one tickets to Islands of Adventure. The clerk was nice and told them they are not Disney parks and he would have to buy them at Universal Parks. He says ok.but it sure would make it a lot easier if you sold Island of Adventure tickets here too since it is right next door...... He just did not get the fact that Universal and Disney are not all one park system and not right next door to each other...:sunny:

I was talking to a lady going to Disney the same time as us. They have never been there before, so I understand her comment a little.

They are getting a taxi from the airport and we are getting a town car. I told her we are getting a grocery stop and it was close to Disney. She said, "Oh good, we will just walk from ASSports to the grocery since we won't have a car. Since it's close."

I just had to laugh. She was under the impression that you could walk anywhere at Disney and didn't need a car. She didn't even know that disney had busses, she thought averything was within walking distance. She'll be in for a SHOCK!!!!

I did fill her in though. Also, she didn't know she should make PS's before hand. she actually thought she could walk into CRT for breakfast on whatever day they decided to go there!

I don't see how you can spend so much money on vacation at Disney and not even do the slightest bit of research. I gave her the Allearsnet website. She never heard of it. lol:hyper: :hyper:

Once while waiting in line for the Haunted Mansion, a youngish couple in front of me asked, "Have you ridden this thing before?" I said oh yeah, many times. "Is it scary?" the DH asked. I shrugged, nah not too bad. As the line started advancing closer to the door they got more anxious looking (and this is a couple in the early to mid 20's mind you). The DH turned around again, "Do you walk through this or is it a ride?" A ride mostly, I said. Finally they looked at each other. "Do you want to do this?" asked the DH and DW shook her head. "Okay, let's go back," and they exited the line.

All I could do was shake my head.

Oh I've heard many, but my fav is when people say "I'm going to Disney and then we'll do Epcot." Yes they are talking about MK, but it just gets on my last nerve. And as others have said I love it when people ask CMS how to get to Universal, where do they get the bus or train. Unreal!! I too am guilty of sticking my nose in other people's business. I just can't help myself. My family just rolls their eyes. I'm always explainging stuff to guests. Oh I just thought of another one. This was from a relative!! He kept telling me he was staying at the Poly and the monorail would take him to all the parks. I tried, in vain, to explain that the monorail would only take them to MK and Epcot, but he thought I was stupid. Never mind that I have been going since the 1970's. Well, when they got back (and mind you this was a one time trip, they "didn't really like it") they told me that the monorail only goes to MK and Epcot and you needed a bus for the rest of the stuff. DUH!!!

One of my favorites is when you're at a hard-to-get-into restaurant (like CRT) waiting to be seated and you see a family going up to the hostess desk asking to be seated without a PS. What is funny is the look of surprise and shock on their faces when they learn about this mysterious thing called "Priority Seating" and that they didn't know anything about it.

This has happened at so many restaurants.

+++++++++++++

The other one that gets to me is when people refer to MK as Disney World. YOU ARE IN DISNEY WORLD!!! LOL

Absolutely! I have done the same thing many times, including during our trip last week. I find people very appreciative of the input.

Here is one of my favorite guest comments. While at Epcot, my DH and I were walking through World Showcase. While strolling past the Canada pavilion, we passed a family admiring the scenery. One of the kids said, "Mom, take a picture of that." And the mother replied, quite seriously, "Oh, I can't. It's not a Kodak picture spot."

I've seen plenty of clueless people with kids who don't know about the baby swap. I explain it to them and they seem surprised.

People who do no planning or research are the ones complaining about crowds when, with a little planning, they could have avoided a lot of the crowds by getting to the parks when they opened, using fastpasses, not going to the EE if they weren't going to get there the hour early, etc.

Friends of ours went a couple weeks ago. They stayed offsite and I told her to make sure they didn't go to whichever park had EE for that day. She sounded a bit surprised to have to plan their time to that extent. :earseek: I haven't talked to them since they returned to find out how their trip went.

A little planning goes a long way at WDW!
