I love seafood but with three degrees in food science (i.e., multiple courses in food microbiology) I could never bring myself to eat raw seafood, until about 5 years ago. A friend who is admired for his food-sense told me about cold, briney oysters with equally cold gin or vodka to go with as being an ultimate experience. One day, I finally followed his advice and there's been no turning back (although I forego the shots these days)! I've never had sushi but that's because I don't like the layer of seaweed that most is wrapped in. However, last fall I bit the bullet and has sashimi at Morimoto in Disney Springs and man, did I enjoy that! [and TBH, I am not why the thought of raw seafood was so off-putting... I eat bites of raw hamburg, always have, ever since I was little, so...]
