Closing Time!

It is taking a long time to load points at the moment. My contract showed up last week (10/20) and I called today to see if points could be loaded. I was told ‘no’! First time in 12 resale contracts that they have refused… and I usually call or chat 24 hours after contract shows up. Bah humbug.

I don't think I've asked to have them loaded on a Weekend, maybe you'll have better luck on Monday? Pretty sure my last one (showed contract added between 10/18-10/20) had points available by phone on 10/21 - but that was a Monday ;)

I chatted in less than 24 hours after we got our club id email and got them loaded on Friday.

I also contacted MS via Chat to get my points loaded. Initially the agent said it would be loaded within a couple weeks. I mentioned that I heard they could help me load them sooner, and the agent asked if I was trying to make a reservation now and I told them yes. Then the agent was able to load the points for me immediately, and they showed up right away after I refreshed the page.

Reactions: ehh

Just closed today on my first resale contract! Took longer than expected due to the seller waiting for approval on the HARPTA exception before signing the closing documents, but glad it's finally done.

This may have taken longer had I not made some calls/chats with Member Services. On 10/21 I received the initial email with the Activation Code. Did not get the other email with the Club ID however until calling Member Services a couple times, but eventually got them to send out the email with the Club ID. After setting up my account, I contacted Member Services via chat the following business day to see if they could load my points, which they did. So after 82 days from when I submitted my offer, I have the points loaded and able to make my first DVC reservation now =)

Congrats!

Just one data point but I received my activation code email this past Wednesday 10/23. I was unsure of the process with the Club ID so I called that day to ask about it. They couldn’t really help because they need my Member ID to help…sort of a chicken and egg situation. They suggested calling back today 10/25 if the club ID email didn’t arrive.

I called today and they were able to reach the department that handles that information. The email with my Club ID showed up within the hour. I was able to setup my account easily.

I was curious about the points getting loaded so I called on my drive home. They were able to load them during the call which was awesome.

Now to book some trips…
Thanks so much for your advice! I was able to call MS and explain my situation (same as yours) and now we are all set, points loaded and ready to book! Process was 51 days total from date of offer to points loaded. I will say I had to be fairly persistent with my calls to MS and after the third call since your post I found a rep who was willing to help me. Thanks again for posting your experience so I knew to call 😊

A reminder to those new. You must post a link to the brokers website or the post is deleted. Please do not use names.

If you don’t have enough posts to do that, just leave blank.

If it shows up as ***, then you just leave it like that as it means the boards filter did its job.

Out of curiosity, when you sell a contract, how long does it take for the points to leave your account/ dashboard? I closed on 10/14, I got my check over a week ago, but the points are still sitting in my account? It just seems odd.

It seems to take about 3 weeks for Disney to show them formally moved over to the new Owners.

I've bought contracts from three different brokers in the last few months.

One specifically wanted to know when points appeared in my account so they could release funds to the seller, the others didn't care. I went out of my way to inform one of them and they basically replied with '...thanks and congrats?'

Was it TRCS? That’s the one good thing about them.

Is it really three weeks from when the deed is recorded to when you get the email for a DVC account and points loaded? I am so close and counting the hours... Deed was recorded 10/28.
