(CLOSED) The Smoking DSA's @ Resorts Info Thread

There should be links to all the resort maps with DSAs in the first post in this thread. Pop has many DSAs. Request "first floor near a designated smoking area".

I would request the 50's bldg. nearest the lake. there is a DSA in the middle of the 3 50s bldgs. there are also dsa's along the lake, with benches. we once had a ground floor in thei building and it was the exact same amount of steps to either dsa.
the ones by the lake are kinda pretty to sit at.
you do not want the 70s section. there is no dsa at all, unless you are on the lake side.
when you check in, have them show you where your room si (or the general area, if it's not ready yet) and where the dsa is. you can always say, "what have you got closer to a dsa?" you usually don't have to accept the room they assign you.

Where do we request a room to be as close as possible to a DSA at Pop Century. Ground floor is my first choice then what building and should I book preferred or standard for the closest DSA ? Is frustrating when you have to walk a mile and go up and down stairs to smoke LOL. Anyone know of any room numbers they have had close to a DSA at Pop ? Thanks for any info :)

I ask for Lake view !!There are DSA's allaround the Lake and if you are on the 1st floor it would be just awalk across the lawn !!! Loved it in the mornings to sit and watch the ducks and the lake !!!

We just stayed at Pop Century last week. I had a preferred room ground floor and started out in 50's section building 1. It was a little hike to the DSA and the closest one was small and not shaded. We switched rooms the 2nd day there and were in 60's section building 4 ground floor facing courtyard not pool. It was a great corner room, quiet and closer to DSA. I used the pool bar DSA and if the tables were full there I went up by the main building. We always book preferred and like 50's and 60's sections. The first room was right by parking lot and I did see people smoking there. My picks would be 50's building 3 or 60's any building ground floor.

So do I have to book preferred or standard to get the 50's building lakeside near the DSA ?

I looked at the map but it doesnt say the building number. I was looking for 50's building 3. How do you tell what the building numbers are ?

You can tell by the room numbers (first number is building number) for example rm 5113 would be building 5 ground floor rm 13.

I am just back from the Yacht club and it was very nice to find several DSA right on the porch so that you could actually sit and watch folks at the pool. there was also a covered smoking area by the quiet pool area which was nice.

Was at Animal Kingdom on Saturday. They have removed the DSA in Africa near the Dawa Bar, but there is a new DSA in Camp Minnie/Mickey. I'm thinking it is in a corner back near the Old Pocohontas show.

are you sure the DSA by the Dawa bar wasn't just moved?

it used to be where you could just hang over that wal overlooking the water. last time I ws there, it was further back to the right, way behind.

as far as the one by cmap minniemickey,I hope that's true. you walk all the way over there so you have time to spare, then no DSA ANYWHERE near to wait till the show is close to starting.

Yep, when I was there Labor Day Weekend, it was still way back in the back past Dawa Bar almost to the CM backstage wall/entrance. This last weekend it was gone, and was removed from the map.

The one in Camp Minnie/Mickey was most definitely there because I sat there, but it was not yet on the park map.

that is SO bad!!! so, I wonder where in Africa you can smoke? they keep making DSAs go "poof" and people won't even TRY to obey the rules.
yes, I was irritated when the Dawa bar one got moved back into the dark, boring area. I liked hanging over the wall, looking at the water (looking for gators!). but, oh well. they moved us further out of the way. I can understand that.
maybe they have us climbing over the wall, following a thorny path, and sitting on a rock?:rotfl:
really, the new one way in the back wouldn't have bothered ANYONE, why "poof" it?:headache:

Yeah, 'cause, you know, it makes a lot more sense to have a DSA in a children's area instead of by a bar.

Lots of thought went into that one, I can tell.

I just wish they'd bring back the one on the "hidden" trail that parallels the main thoroughfare between Asia and Africa. I don't understand why they closed that DSA, either. No one ever went back there, so I don't see how anyone could have been bothered by the second hand smoke.

When I was there over Labor Day, it was a Character Greeting Area.

well they still need one back in the minnie/mickey area, because of the lion king show. you get there early, and want a smloke before you go in, there is plenty space there to put in an ont of the way DSA.
but, you're right, there's no rhyme or reason. jsut to confuse us, I think.

Anyone have any pictures of the dsa at cbr ? I'm keeping fingers crossed for an inside courtyard room. Are all courtyards dsa?
We go in Jan.2011 for our 25th !! My husband has no idea yet...Hope it turns out that he's as happy about it as I have been the last year planning and saving!! I have the trip paid for in full and now saving for rental car, spending money and drinks!!

I agree, there should be one in each "land."

I was there last week. the Dawa Bar DSA is gone. but there is a nice one in camp minnie/mickey. even has some tables and seating. it is tucked back in the corner before you get to the lion king show enterance.
